For the 100th episode of Microwaved Movies; we're watching something that's been suggested ever since this series started, Bibleman! Created by Tony Salerno and played by Willie Aames, this christian superhero produces camp on levels unknown to mankind. Using lightsabers, the Bible, U.N.I.C.E, and the full armor of God, he'll defeat foes like depression and atheism once and for all.

Bibleman TV Series - 1995
Bibleman is an American Christian-themed direct-to-video children's series created by Tony Salerno that ran from 1995 to 2010. The series centers around an evangelical superhero who fights evil, often by quoting scripture, and sometimes breaks the fourth wall.
Episodes Shown:
S1 E5 - "Defeating the Shadow of Doubt" (1998)
While under the spell of the sinister Shadow of Doubt, Kayla begins to doubt God's interests in her problems. And when Bibleman and his trusted friend Coats come to her aid, the cunning Shadow targets Bibleman as his next victim. Both Bibleman and Kayla learn a lesson in relying on the truths in God's Word.
S2 E2 - "The Incredible Force of Joy" - (1999)
The Master of Misery determines to obtain enough power to overcome the world...by stealing all the joy from Bibleman, and also from a gifted middle-school science-student.

  • I kid you not, when I was five my Christian Kindergarten class played a Bibleman tape. I don't remember much about it other than they put a bunch of evil bugs inside Bibleman and he was grunting and groaning in pain, and it scared me so badly that the teacher had to help move me out of the room because I was screaming and crying in terror.

  • 12:36 That's what happened when the VeggieTales video Rack, Shack, and Benny came out. The Bunny Song originally had lyrics like "I don't love my Mom or my Dad just the bunny" and "I won't go to church and I won't go to school", and kids sang that song, so the lyrics got changed 3 years later in the video to stop the issue.

  • I love the fact that Bibleman is a self insert character in the first season cuz the guy who plays Bibleman wrote and directed it, so he constantly makes meta jokes about it. But then, the show kinda fell apart in the 2nd and 3rd season when it had different writers entirely. It is a great exploration about ego as for sure xD

  • I can remember as a kid being dragged to the local Christian bookstore that was oddly enough owned by a state representative and her family.   • Just watched Spiderman 3 in theaters. Was absolutely the funniest theater experience I’ve had. People dancing to Bully Maguire, applauding to Stan Lee, pointing out and repeating each meme shown, and a whole lot of laughs. Felt like I was in one of your episodes, but with 100+ people. 🧡😆
