Dan Hardy vs Herb Dean has taken the MMA world by storm regarding the stoppage in Trinaldo vs Herbert on the prelims of UFC Fight Island 3, this is my reaction to the recent UFC news, let me know what you guys think in the comments section below.

People commenting "it was a bad stoppage" you aren't disagreeing with me, we know it wasn't a good stoppage, every card there is a fight that could've been stopped earlier, or a fight that should've been allowed to go on, my point is the stoppage did not in any way justify Dan Hardy to scream in anger and go at herb dean live on ESPN whilst our sport is being represented, that wasn't even the worst stoppage THIS MONTH, let alone ever, yet somehow it created the largest uproar thanks to Dan Hardy, who just so happens to be close friends with Jai Herbert

respectfully disagree. His body went limp. That was one of them KO's where his mind disconnected from his body instantly and he flailed back. In my opinion it's good seeing someone have emotion for the fighters and I would have hoped Herb admitted he made a mistake instead of pretending that he did a fine job in that situation. Mistakes happen, but Hardy was just being sincere on how he felt and im sure the fact that he is friends with Herbert made it even worst to not see a fighter protected. Felder was outspoken on commentary as well... from a representational standpoint, it was a bad moment for the sport either way. I mean Trinaldo was literally standing over herbert not wanting to punch him like "dude stop the fight". If someone never saw the sport and saw that they would probably be shocked.

Something tells me that if Trinaldo would’ve walked off and Herbert had gotten up and continued fighting, Dan Hardy would’ve been the first one to say “you gotta keep fighting ‘til the ref stops it.”

At no point did I say this was a really good stoppage, but I mentioned that Herb Dean was put in a situation where anything he did would be scrutinized, very messy from all parties, but I feel like Herb is least to blame, I can almost 100% GUARANTEE YOU that if Herb Dean jumped straight on top of Jai Herbert to stop it, Jai would've reacted to Herb and immediately would've immediately protested the stoppage, especially considering that Jai protested the stoppage anyway.

Guru i agree in all your assessment. Michael Bisping had a similar incident once in a Max Griffin Fight but maybe that was more similar to Jose Aldo vs Petr Yan in a Striking sense just 1 fighter dominating 10-8 rounds. And i felt Dan Hardy and Herb Dean had similar blame because Herb Dean ran and was right by almost on top of Herbert while Trinaldo saw him and was like "is he out; /or is it going to be stopped". If Herb wouldve been nearby but not THAT close to the fighters maybe Trinaldo wouldve TKOed him or Koed him for real.
Jai was gone from this earth my guy lol like you mentioned in one of your videos. He couldnt even get up to defend himself or even lift an arm up to cover.. let alone had any ability to jump on herb to not stop the fight. I cant understand how someone could not see that. Mistakes happen, but no one would of criticized him doing his job and protecting Herbert because there was no debate that he was out. Knockouts where people flail back like a dying fish lol are different from someone being rocked. This was similar to the Jacare Weidman knockout... boom right on the forehead... too much previous damage in the fight... lights out brain disconnects and timber.

One thing I forgot to include, I feel like Dan Hardy found a chance to be considered a Hero in a time where people are turning against him for his lies and character flaws, and he doubled down thinking he would be seen as a savior and celebrated by the MMA fans, but during this he just came off as unprofessional and emotionally invested, I hope he doesn't lose his job because he is normally a good commentator, but he somewhat tarnished an event here.

I would actually argue that Hardy should loose his job, or at least be set aside for a while. You said it, he evidently has issues to resolve and sometimes you just need to hit yourself against the floor to understand that you were in fact falling down... Better to bust a knee than your face in those situations
İ like Hardy's breakdowns but i don't like him as a commentator, i would prefer Jimmy Smith. As it comes to this fight i don't think he's trying to be a hero, he probably knows the guy who got koed. It was a bad stoppage, if Trinaldo can notice he's done, fucking ref should too

I don’t think the stoppage was bad, he was intelligently defending himself on the ground (eyes open, hands up, feet up, head off the canvas, putting separation between him and his opponent) and as soon as a few ground and pound shots were landed he wasn’t defending himself anymore herb stepped in, this is a bad situation for a fighter to be in because obviously in hindsight had herb stepped in earlier he would have saved him some damage but there was no way to tell that he would be finished until those ground and pound shots came, we’ve seen plenty of situations where guys get rocked and dropped to the canvas and miraculously get back up and even sometimes win the fight. Dan hardy was just upset that his friend got hurt, enough said.

I mean ive called out "its over" and it wasnt over. So with that in mind I think herb dis a perfcet job staying calm and assessing the situation. It wasnt a bad stoppage at all to me. I wont say it was the best stoppage ever but it was far from bad and actually makes me like herb more for not overreacting and trusting his process
I agree, totally blown out of proportion. First I think the stoppage was indefensible, I don't blame Trinaldo for showing mercy to his opponent that clearly wasn't even attempting to defend himself and if he was it was purely instinctual to just put his hands out... The stoppage was bad but it wasn't horrendous. Dan Hardys job is to commentate, I have no quarrels with him reacting to the stoppage or on the mic because it's his job to react. However you are right, the spat that you could hear on the broadcast did kind of look unprofessional and my immediate thought was to think Hardy shouldn't have left the desk and the situation would have been avoided. But, according to Hardy, Dean approached him as he was at the commentary booth waiting to give the post fight interview and if that was the case then Herb can't say anything about people not being able to address officials when he supposedly followed up and caused the confrontation. Bottom line; we should be talking about the fights and fighters instead of this. But enjoy the views pal ✌
I agree with nearly every thing you said but I would add It was a messy stoppage, not indefensible because there is a lot to defend Herb on due to all the other factors at the time. And to your last comment about the confrontation, herb explained this, after the fight he needs to know who screamed to stop the fight, he went to the physician who said no, then the inspectors of Jai's corner who said no, the only people left are commentary really, then type in "dan hardy vs herb dean" on youtube, it is clear to me from this video who was the aggressor looking for an argument and who was trying to calm the situation.
@@the-mma-guru Yeah I agree to some extent but Herbs job isn't to get to the bottom of who's asking to stop the fight it's to call the action, once he asked the physician and Jais corner he should have left it at that, because if Hardy is telling the truth and it was in fact Herb who approached him to address him about it while he was at the commentary booth waiting on doing the post fight interview, then Herb caused the whole spat... Just a dumb situation top to bottom. Bad stoppage in my opinion but I'd say Weidman Jacare level of bad... not as bad as a lot of other stoppages. Herbs had way worse calls than this. Whatever the ramifications, I hope neither of them lose there job over it.
@@the-mma-guru They need to take a page out of Pride and PFLs books by attaching referee cams so we get there perspective because from my angle I seen a guy get hit so hard and land so badly that I knew it was a wrap but I concede that Herb Dean didn't get the angle I did and if I seen it from his perspective maybe the call would have been more understandable

Thanks for this video MMA GURU. I doubt Dan Hardy would have shouted "stop the fight" if Dana was in the building. All the time Dana was seated cage side no commentator behaved like that it just happened the weekend Dana wasn't around this happened. I think its learning process for everyone . Also Dana has stamp his foot down anyone tries that again that individual can say bye bye to their job.

This is a very tough situation, I don't agree with what Dan did, but Herb by no means is a perfect ref. From a fan's perspective, there seems to be no accountability when it comes to bad stoppages especially the ones that were similar to this one. I like said, I don't agree with the outburst but I am glad it was talked about it on air post show in order to add and improve the sport.
I'm on Dan Hardy's side. The stoppage was awful and awkward. Trinaldo paused for 6 seconds after the left hook because he himself being a fighter knew that the fight was over.

i've seen fights where a guy was down taking 10+ heavy, unanswered strikes that got less drama than this. the drama queens have taken over the mma fanbase. if he had stopped it immediately there would probably be some drama over that too.

Thats the point though, Hardy stepped up and said something and brought attention to a subject that should be highlighted... bad stoppages. He’s protecting the fighters and felt that in the moment something had to be said. Youre talking about it right now so it obviously worked.

you have to scrutinize Herb Dean based on what he see's in the heat of the moment, because that is all he has to make a decision it is unfair to watch a slowmo replay with a close up of Jai Herbert whilst Herb is running to the fighters and then take it out on herb afterwards.

After Herb let Francis hammer fist Stipe when he was already Knocked out your video popped up. Watched it your take is poor; Dan was the only person taking care of the fighters safety & welfare. A late stoppage is not a good thing, an extra punch when someone is KO'd is not a good thing. Dana's response caused more media reaction, Herbs response videos caused more reaction.

I think we will never see Hardy again in UFC events. He is done. His insta statement is clear, and he knows it. Very unprofessional he was. Herbs statement on this was spot on. I think Hardy is done That said I agree that Herb did let it go for 3 strikes too long. What Hardy did and the way he went about is the issue. He was unprofessional, that is not his job, he should never be allowed to commentate again. I will listen to his analysis and podcasts, but he should never be allowed near a broadcast booth again. Keeping your emotions intact is part of the job. He failed at that.
