There is one more consideration for where to go. You may go to the perfect position for your tank, but if none of your team goes there and you end up on an island you get overwhelmed. I think about where to go, then while moving there watch my team, and turn around if I’m alone. To be fair though, if I’m on a team that ignores a flank or key position it’s a 90% loss to start.

On the concept of "play to the strength of your tank" - I'm just getting beyond speed and fast reload as primary considerations. Your explaining ridge & gun depression helps a lot. I also realized that I'm excitable and need to slow down and AIM - I love cupola shots.

Hey Claus - Yup, good "Map Position 101"; keep up with the tutorials. Now here's an idea: some super unicorn with good coding skills needs to make a WoT Mod that provides either (a) an overlay on the WoT maps that appears during the 30-second loadin before the battle commences (so it knows what tank you're playing and on which map) and displays all the appropriate locations for that tank/map combination. Or (b) operates during the battle and acts like a GPS device to provide directions to the appropriate locations. But such a Mod would likely be as illegal as the old Mod providing a weak-spot overlay on tanks. Then again, maybe WG might like the idea and simply add it to the game themselves.

Great video. You discuss important subjects for muppets to think about and learn to get better. Choice of tanks, their strengths and placement on the maps, the use of most appropriate ammo, the dynamic of movement up and down the maps, like pushing and retreating, how to become a better team player by covering another player's back or flank, or light up enemy tanks.... All of these are learned skills, either from playing many, many battles or from listening to experienced players in clan practice or to you. Keep up the good work!

I obviously go to the point on the map furthest away from the objective, preferably in Encounter and as part of a lemming train, and then play really passively... It's not about how many tanks you can kill, it's about how many other players you can piss off... 😀

Wargaming does not want certain classes of tanks to interfere with the enjoyment of their best customers. Their best customers happen to be Russian server players, so that should explain why Russian tanks overall are programmed to be superior, and since the Russian players really like to brawl in their heavies, the maps have been tailored to suit. That's why each map has a dedicated heavy tank brawling area that is essentially walled off from the rest of the map, so that pesky mediums and TDs can't flank-shot the heavies as they trundle toward the heavy tank playpen. That's also why arty has been nerfed into oblivion and that's why each map has been pared down to only 1 or 2 positions optimized for the concealed long range sniping that is the hallmark of lightly armored TDs.

To be fair, I think this is more a bias of how the game was *originally* designed, and it hasn't really been changed over time (or not changed *enough* over time). It was originally designed with "Russian" (or whatever) players in mind, and the things they saw from Supertest and early that people enjoyed. The Russian/EU server IS their primarily populated server, NA and CA are second and third. They never really evolved it for other markets (or have, but it's been very slow). It FEELS like it's changing now, slowly, but it may not be enough in the long run, and they're also being financially supported as they are, so...

I try to be thoughtful about where I need to go on each map depending on my tank and the enemy line up. Sometimes in randoms you get in teams where they yolo one side and just leave a flank open. Nothing you can do about that- you either die alone or take a more defensive position and do the best you can.

Yes the most common thing I see are lights racing to city buildings to spot nothing of value to the team because A) Spg will not be able to hit things where they are and B) when there are open field flank areas that could be used and pressed. Same with medium tanks, mediums racing to fight heavies from their front in narrow building channels, and I almost always state it at the start of the battle, and STILL they go there, and then the team gets flank rolled because the idiots always go to stupid spots to lose. I will try at times in whichever tank I am in, to get to those flank points to at least delay the enemy but rarely works out unless the other team players are just that much worse.

I wasn't a heavy Tank player, but learned with my clan mates in a platoon of T29's how to keep hull down and use the turret and use gun depression. I found the T29 a good tank the learn how to brawl effectively.

Also... You are right that even during the count down you have to look up the enemy line-up and their tanks. The most important thing in my opinion is the speed and where you can get with your tank, as much as the choke points in the maps if you are playing with heavies. But what most of the dedicated players, especially the tubers won't wan't to say out loud is that after the changes this game has mutated smaller in regards of possible view range and spotting mainly 'cos of the wheelies and made by Citroen , the most reliable car manufacter ever, but aside from my nihilism or cynism, is the fact, that even if the money flow first and upront may decrease, if you enlarge these maps, lets say to a same extend as in Grand Battle maps, you cannot have less money. The old saying from the AMERICAN CAPITALISM SAYS THAT THE CONSUMER IS ALWAYS RIGTH. You cannot put in the game techtree lines of Ethipohian nor Bolivian tanks and tech trees. PEOPLE WILL HAPPILY PAY IF THEY GET WHAT THEY WANT, NOT WHAT IS SUPPOSED THEM TO LIKE. The only real way to proseed is both enlarge the maps and also little by little make more closer to this days modern warfare. But instead of new reward tanks( CHIEFTAINS... excuse mua;P ), premium tanks or any fancy event, you should be conserned about the real content. People are notoriusly fast to get bored in loving relationships too... I have played War Thunder and Armored Warfare too, but so far this is the best, but keeping it that way, you need to listen the paying customers and not just the childrens who have yearned with their plees some money from their parents. The truth that WG doesn't apply is that most of the best players are not fast moving agile and teenagers, but they are between 30-50 years old men.. Not at all children and you can see it yourself in some unconvinient times of the day, when these children will infest the MM. If you dear Claus Kellerman can play when ever you want, I suggest to you in your local time always after 22.00. After those Clan Wars the great players usually play their solo battles too, and they are hard nuts to break, but are indeed very good. In theory the RU server was the best by statistics, but that is completely nonsense. The best clans all are from Europe everyone of them. I have been in I think during my 11 years 'career' on 5 different clans, but they tend to fail on the same things everytime: The commander maybe a very good solo player, but don't know of other humans a shit... In a real army these persons would never ever qualified as an officer.. At least in Finland as we have two step qualification after the 'boot camp' which some still fail... So if you are mentally checked both in IQ and then with pcychological tests.. then you have a chance to became an officer some day in regular army. But in all fairness there are very good female players too and as it happens to be , I know some of them, and they are by no means all 'truck drivers' with different sexual approach and ugly appereances, but just gamers as we are and some of them very pretty too. So this genre cap is more like an imagination, it doesn't fit to anything. All people are different, even your siblings, but by your genre or skin color or your nationatility you shouldn't make an 'effing' difference.

The IS7 vs Conqueror argument is the extreme and I do get Claus's point. However I believe you have to take a view on the relative strengths of tank types in the game and the balance of forces. For example if there was a platoon of conquerors in that game and they all tried to play in that position their team would probably have lost. And how many times do you move to take the corner in el-halluf only to get sniped on the way from the ridge by some tank like AT12 or Pawlack that should never be there?

I actually have to say: occasionally, on the second map, in my 45TP or 53TP, I go to the gravel dunes on the east. You can spot TDs and cause damage, whilst pushing up. You just have to stay clear of the 0 line. However, the west could die quicker due to that decision and you lose. Lastly, this alternate strategy works on both spawns.

I maybe going to the right position with my ta nk, but that doen't help a lot if the other team is going in possible wrong palces and sometimes to a one flank only... GG from the clan Wars where one startegy from the start to the bitter end is always so satisfying... Even in less than 15 minutes the game is always cahnging and yoy have to react to it... Fuck the startegy or pre thought plans.. If something doesn't work in real life, it doesn't work even in a pixel game... too bad

At 22:30. Didn’t go down all the branches because I am cheap bastard. I play mediums pretty much exclusively. You never know what kind of team you have so I tend to stay central to map or where I can provide the most vision for 1. myself and the 2. team. Let game develop for 2 or 3 minutes, however long it takes, and then try best to respond in the most appropriate manner

Doesn't matter where you go, 80 - 90% of time team is stupid, so even you go to perfect spot, you still lose or die quickly alone, old hardcore grinding game was awesome, where bad players would stay lower tiers and learn how to play competitive, reaching top tier, after introducing tons of premium tanks and other shit stuff, new players get to top tiers with help of pay to play too soon, not realizing how game strategically works.. End of the day " It's a shit show" and will be shit show forever ... 😂

This game is totally broken, the physics are screwed up. I have a 650% crew and still miss 4 out of 5 shots in arty. WOT will never get anothe penny from me. About 50% of the games have a pre-determinded outcome. I know I drive arty but I have a very old computer so I can't really drive any others.

Ordinary promotion from WOT tips !! (Haha 3-6-8000 Damage) you don't get 1/4th of what you see here in real game!!! These bastards have a modified mod for promotions to see they are still in the top ranks, what he shoots is a hit!! if a tank hits him.. then a rebound... I guarantee that you won't have it that way!! and it will be the opposite on mil. % and besides... don't buy premium or premium tanks!!! it's useless anyway, the server determines the damage,,..determines victory and defeat .. If you upload min Damage to the opponent, the server will automatically flip and give Victory/ if High damage to the opponent - it is automatically Defeat.. You have a tank of 8 levels and you are approximately at the bottom of the team or on the bottom team composition, stacked from level 10 = It's automatically a win because you have no chance to shoot down Level 10 that is: min. damage = victory.!!! If you are on the highest rungs in the lineup, e.g. team level 8 to level 6 , Automatically = high damage to the opponent and you automatically = Defeat!! Server. BLOCKS....visibility, enemy detections, opponent damage, you can just do whatever you want :D !! it's wasted money!! You actually have more losses than wins in the game!! Ask yourself another question.. how many times have you recorded what you see here? (it's easy to play if you're an admin with a good game mode!), and this thieving company gives replays like this every day ... they're just lying to you and fooling you it's a great game, waiting for you to adjust the game mode to the minimum so that you can put real money into it!! Also note that they offer only premium or 10 level tanks, where you have huge losses in the game even during premium, especially if you use gold-i (premium cartridges)!!! , for 1 battle minus up to 8-20,000 cash... if not more... wt.

I don't have Tier VIIi-X tanks so I don't have tanks that are particularly strong in specific attributes, so I have favorite spots dependent on class. Also first game? No arty, thanks for the pointer re. focusing that ridge. I have taken Empire's Wall off my shite list to give it a try.
I try to be thoughtful about where I need to go on each map depending on my tank and the enemy line up. Sometimes in randoms you get in teams where they yolo one side and just leave a flank open. Nothing you can do about that- you either die alone or take a more defensive position and do the best you can.

Yes the most common thing I see are lights racing to city buildings to spot nothing of value to the team because A) Spg will not be able to hit things where they are and B) when there are open field flank areas that could be used and pressed. Same with medium tanks, mediums racing to fight heavies from their front in narrow building channels, and I almost always state it at the start of the battle, and STILL they go there, and then the team gets flank rolled because the idiots always go to stupid spots to lose. I will try at times in whichever tank I am in, to get to those flank points to at least delay the enemy but rarely works out unless the other team players are just that much worse.
It's rare to see a light played as a scout rather than a fast attack kamikaze machine.
I wasn't a heavy Tank player, but learned with my clan mates in a platoon of T29's how to keep hull down and use the turret and use gun depression. I found the T29 a good tank the learn how to brawl effectively.
Also... You are right that even during the count down you have to look up the enemy line-up and their tanks. The most important thing in my opinion is the speed and where you can get with your tank, as much as the choke points in the maps if you are playing with heavies. But what most of the dedicated players, especially the tubers won't wan't to say out loud is that after the changes this game has mutated smaller in regards of possible view range and spotting mainly 'cos of the wheelies and made by Citroen , the most reliable car manufacter ever, but aside from my nihilism or cynism, is the fact, that even if the money flow first and upront may decrease, if you enlarge these maps, lets say to a same extend as in Grand Battle maps, you cannot have less money. The old saying from the AMERICAN CAPITALISM SAYS THAT THE CONSUMER IS ALWAYS RIGTH. You cannot put in the game techtree lines of Ethipohian nor Bolivian tanks and tech trees. PEOPLE WILL HAPPILY PAY IF THEY GET WHAT THEY WANT, NOT WHAT IS SUPPOSED THEM TO LIKE. The only real way to proseed is both enlarge the maps and also little by little make more closer to this days modern warfare. But instead of new reward tanks( CHIEFTAINS... excuse mua;P ), premium tanks or any fancy event, you should be conserned about the real content. People are notoriusly fast to get bored in loving relationships too... I have played War Thunder and Armored Warfare too, but so far this is the best, but keeping it that way, you need to listen the paying customers and not just the childrens who have yearned with their plees some money from their parents. The truth that WG doesn't apply is that most of the best players are not fast moving agile and teenagers, but they are between 30-50 years old men.. Not at all children and you can see it yourself in some unconvinient times of the day, when these children will infest the MM. If you dear Claus Kellerman can play when ever you want, I suggest to you in your local time always after 22.00. After those Clan Wars the great players usually play their solo battles too, and they are hard nuts to break, but are indeed very good. In theory the RU server was the best by statistics, but that is completely nonsense. The best clans all are from Europe everyone of them. I have been in I think during my 11 years 'career' on 5 different clans, but they tend to fail on the same things everytime: The commander maybe a very good solo player, but don't know of other humans a shit... In a real army these persons would never ever qualified as an officer.. At least in Finland as we have two step qualification after the 'boot camp' which some still fail... So if you are mentally checked both in IQ and then with pcychological tests.. then you have a chance to became an officer some day in regular army. But in all fairness there are very good female players too and as it happens to be , I know some of them, and they are by no means all 'truck drivers' with different sexual approach and ugly appereances, but just gamers as we are and some of them very pretty too. So this genre cap is more like an imagination, it doesn't fit to anything. All people are different, even your siblings, but by your genre or skin color or your nationatility you shouldn't make an 'effing' difference.

The IS7 vs Conqueror argument is the extreme and I do get Claus's point. However I believe you have to take a view on the relative strengths of tank types in the game and the balance of forces. For example if there was a platoon of conquerors in that game and they all tried to play in that position their team would probably have lost. And how many times do you move to take the corner in el-halluf only to get sniped on the way from the ridge by some tank like AT12 or Pawlack that should never be there?
Pisition is important but if you end up on a team that has no concept if position or tactics you have to adjust.

I actually have to say: occasionally, on the second map, in my 45TP or 53TP, I go to the gravel dunes on the east. You can spot TDs and cause damage, whilst pushing up. You just have to stay clear of the 0 line. However, the west could die quicker due to that decision and you lose. Lastly, this alternate strategy works on both spawns.

I maybe going to the right position with my ta nk, but that doen't help a lot if the other team is going in possible wrong palces and sometimes to a one flank only... GG from the clan Wars where one startegy from the start to the bitter end is always so satisfying... Even in less than 15 minutes the game is always cahnging and yoy have to react to it... At 22:30. Didn’t go down all the branches because I am cheap bastard. I play mediums pretty much exclusively. You never know what kind of team you have so I tend to stay central to map or where I can provide the most vision for 1. myself and the 2. team. Let game develop for 2 or 3 minutes, however long it takes, and then try best to respond in the most appropriate manner
I played Onslaught a couple times. I play well and always get shilly teams. So I never progress. I'm glad the stats don't count. I still have fun playing it, just lose constantly. I know get good. Blah blah blah.

The best position for all tanks in wot's is left in the garage. The game in its current state is trash. Quit for a year and cone back for a month of great mm. Do it during December. Game seems fun during the holidays.

Doesn't matter where you go, 80 - 90% of time team is stupid, so even you go to perfect spot, you still lose or die quickly alone, old hardcore grinding game was awesome, where bad players would stay lower tiers and learn how to play competitive, reaching top tier, after introducing tons of premium tanks and other shit stuff, new players get to top tiers with help of pay to play too soon, not realizing how game strategically works.. End of the day " It's a shit show" and will be shit show forever ... 😂

This game is totally broken, the physics are screwed up. I have a 650% crew and still miss 4 out of 5 shots in arty. WOT will never get anothe penny from me. About 50% of the games have a pre-determinded outcome. I know I drive arty but I have a very old computer so I can't really drive any others.

These bastards have a modified mod for promotions to see they are still in the top ranks, what he shoots is a hit!! if a tank hits him.. then a rebound... I guarantee that you won't have it that way!! and it will be the opposite on mil. % and besides... don't buy premium or premium tanks!!! it's useless anyway, the server determines the damage,,..determines victory and defeat .. If you upload min Damage to the opponent, the server will automatically flip and give Victory/ if High damage to the opponent - it is automatically Defeat.. You have a tank of 8 levels and you are approximately at the bottom of the team or on the bottom team composition, stacked from level 10 = It's automatically a win because you have no chance to shoot down Level 10 that is: min. damage = victory.!!! If you are on the highest rungs in the lineup, e.g. team level 8 to level 6 , Automatically = high damage to the opponent and you automatically = Defeat!! Server. BLOCKS....visibility, enemy detections, opponent damage, you can just do whatever you want :D !! it's wasted money!! You actually have more losses than wins in the game!! Ask yourself another question.. how many times have you recorded what you see here? (it's easy to play if you're an admin with a good game mode!), and this thieving company gives replays like this every day ... they're just lying to you and fooling you it's a great game, waiting for you to adjust the game mode to the minimum so that you can put real money into it!! Also note that they offer only premium or 10 level tanks, where you have huge losses in the game even during premium, especially if you use gold-i (premium cartridges)!!! , for 1 battle minus up to 8-20,000 cash... if not more... wt.
