Nishikori taking down Djokovic in 2014 was a far bigger shock than Cilic beating Roger. In fact Nishikori Djokovic was probably the biggest grand slam upset on the mens side that year in 2014. Or 2nd biggest, Gulbis-Federer at FO 2014 was a big shock too.
Exactly - who ever in charge of this video deserves to get fired
@@keanulewis1294 They COULD take down this video and repost with the 2014 Djokovic shocker included. Two facts that stand without question: 1. Cilic beating Federer was definitely a very notable upset. A repost should include that upset too. 2. Nishikori taking down Djokovic was a far bigger shock than Cilic d. Federer.
I was so confident that Djokovic would win that match. From what I recall from BetOnline, he was a -1800 favorite to beat Nishikori. I can't recall someone that heavily favored that late in a major tournament losing. It's usually easy work, like Djokovic vs. Gasquet at the SF at Wimbledon a few years ago.
Federer nearly lost to Monfils in the QF. I wasn’t shocked at all he lost to Cilic in the SF. Djokovic losing to Nishikori on the other hand, that shocked me.
bruh... cilic 3x0d roger
Tsitsipas losing the first two sets 6-0, 6-1 is embarrassing.
Yeah 😂 Tsitsipas is an overrated clown 😂 but Match Point #9 is embarrassing too
think he needed a toilet break after that, then he played better
nishikori against djokovic 2014? cilic got more chance of beating federer than nishikori beating djokovic.
Yeah
That too after playing 2 back to back 5-setters. Djokovic should have finished him off in straights... That was a massive choke by the Djoke
@@vyankateshrege9305carried away by heat
How is cilic over Federer in here but not nishikori over Djokovic from literally the same year
Fabio Fognini beating Rafa is not that big surprise. In 2015 he had already beaten Nadal twice
But that was the first time Nadal ever lost from two sets up
@@unforcedterror3136 At a slam it was. Rafa did lose from two sets up against Fed in the 2005 Miami final.
i dont consider Del Potro - Federer an upset. they both reached the final for a reason.
Federer was a 5 time defending champion, Del Potro never made a slam final until then.
@@omeramitai2593 so whats your point? an upset to me is a favorite for winning the title gets kicked out early in the tournament by a nobody. none of that was the case here. Del Potro was a top 10 player at the time and crushed Nadal in the Semis.
That's true
@@Gilgarth That’s an upset. Del Potro is a 20 year old first time slam finalist against the current world number 1 and during that time, was the greatest men’s player ever. That was an upset but when it got to the 5th, I wasn’t surprised Del po pulled it off because Fed chokes tight 5th setters all the time.
Dude this was a young and upcoming Delpo beating Federer after 5 back to back USO wins. A veritable upset if I ever saw one.
I'm more impressed with those who beat the top players at their peak versus on the decline.
exactly - that's why the vinci serena one is by far the biggest upset for me. serena was so close to calendar slam and had beaten vinci 4 times before that in straight sets
Nishikori vs Djokovic should be here everyone remembers watching USO 14 that time thought it was gonna be Novak vs Roger that year
Missed Samantha Stosur vs Serena Williams 2011 women's final. Stosur was playing in just her second grand slam final.
Edberg’s loss in 1993 against Karel Novacek should have also been included, if there is any footage of it. Edberg was then the two-time defending champion.
Emma Ranked 150 v Bencic ranked 11 ??
Us open definitely the oddest slam of them all.
Technically speaking several of the matches Emma played that led to her 2021 title is considered upsets because she was a qualifier meeting several seeded players ...
None of those players Emma beat that year had ever won a Grand Slam , reached a final or considered a favourite for the title. So those girls were expected to lose that year.
@@hashworld9836 they were not expected to lose to a qualifier
nishikori against murray 2016? after french open murray had lost only two matches until the end of the year, one in cincinatti against cilic (right after olympic gold medal) and the other in NY against nishikori
And to Delpo in Davis Cup...
Nishikori was a top10 player it's not that big an upset
Tsitsipas? Really? If he ever wins anything that will be an upset.
You forgot the Tommy Robredo vs Ruger Federer match
What about Pouille vs Nadal in 2014? That was the biggest upset since Federer losing at Wimbledon
it was in 2016, one of nadal's worst years.
@@razlevi8238 Yeah 2016 was worse than 2015 for nadal
@@arslaanpasha3334Wouldn’t say so. He won a M1000 that year unlike 2015.
@@MrPatrickbuit I know but in 2016 he didnt even managed to reach 1QF of GS
He got hurt in rg 2016 he might have made a deep run
What about Lucas Pouille VS Rafa ??? 😮
Eh not really that big of an upset because Fognini's upset of Rafa in the year 2015 (the year previous to Lucas vs Rafa) was a major one
serena vs vinci biggest upset for me, the only thing serena didn't have was a calendar grand slam
Some are not UPSET, but a new era.
Delpotro??? Are u crazy??... He was a wonderful player... Never an upset
I don't understand how anyone beating Tsitsipas, even a player outside of top 50-100, is an "upset" because Tsitsipas' best result at the US Open is the third round (2020 and 2021).
U mean toiletsipas
We were robbed of 2 calendar Grand Slams. One with Serena (lost to Vinci 🙄) 2015 and Novak stopped by Meddy 🐙 2021 It would have been Epic to see even 1 in modern times. They are still 2 Goats 🐐 Nonetheless
But Novak can push for it again this year, you know... he is in 2/4 won till now and counting...

Nice video.
Agassi losing to Srichapan at Wimbledon is the first match that pops into my mind
Anyone who was watching tennis knows that Nadal's loss in 2022 wasn't a big upset at all. He was shaky his entire season after Wimbledon, he only entered the US Open because he did so well in the 3 other slams, but no one was expecting him to go far.
Andreescu beating Serena was not a surprise at all🙄
yeah the one that was truly an incredible upset was vinci serena... bianca was playing rly well and serena after pregnancy had a mental block in finals for some reason
Brown beating Nadal in Wimbledon was crazy
this is a us open page, mate
Leylah is amazing ❤
Wow!!!!!
Very cool list. Nice to see some classics with Sampras, Agassi, and even McEnroe!
bor where is djokovic medvedev 2021?
I know Agassi was established somewhat in 1994, but he won it all in 1994 and he wasnt even seeded or ranked
Kvitova-Safina 2009? Radwanska-Sharapova 2007? Robson-Clijsters 2012?
Half of these aren't that big or surprising when put into context
where’s Barty Rogers? that was definitely a bigger upset than Leylah or Bianca
Serena upset, If she had won us open Open that year,it could have been a calendar year for any male or female player in 20s decades!
Where's Gilles Muller vs Andy Roddick 76,76,76 - 2005 1st Round??
Alcaraz vs tsitsipas 2021
Djokovic- Nishikori ?
Cilic' win over Federer isn't really a big upset. He was a top player for a long time and didn't lose a set in QF, semis nor the final.
That and also Federer almost lost to Monfils in the QF, so I wasn’t surprised at all that Cilic beat him
I think the editor doesn’t know what upset means
This video is disappointing. Needed far more effort and perhaps some background info in general.
Lukas rosol beats nadal in 2012 is biggest upset ever for me
And tsitsipas sould not also include to this video because he is not a grandslam champion and no. 1 rank
He hasn’t even been past R4 at USO
@@gabrielametodieva8360 Yeah, he's never even played a USO last 16 match. His best is 3rd round twice in 2020 and 2021.
Lol Tsitsipas in upset 😂
Who didn’t know Serena was going to lose against Bianca?
americans only, everybody else knew that Bianca was flying high that tournament
Where is Nadal vs poulie?
Im sorry Svetlana Kuznetsova losing is not an upset. I don't care if she was defending champion. This lady lost at every single slam she played, which was a lot, besides two rare times. Beating her is not an acheivement.
Are you serious dude? Kuznetsova has had an excellent career! How many other players have reached 4 grand slam finals, winning TWO, and reaching world no 2 during SEVERAL seasons??!!
Kuznetsova was the defending champion in 2005 so it’s definitely an upset.
Soderling over Nadal isn’t here?
Francis beating Rafa last year wasn't an upset at all,I saw it coming before the match even started but I still thought it's Rafa maybe it doesn't actually happen this time. But in hindsight of course it did and it made absolute sense
If u saw it coming Why didn't u bet your house on it? U would've win 8 times the amount
Wow!!!!!
