  • My dad, had a deep, professional respect for the German Paras. This was earned from his combat experience against them with the Canadian Army in Italy, France, Holland and Germany. He said they were magnificent soldiers and always put up one hell of a fight. He called them the cream of the German Forces, during the war.

  • 0:25 "An army of heavily armed blokes..." What? In 1940 they jumped *very lightly* armed, carrying little more than pistols, a few SMGs, and the occasional grenade. Canisters of slightly heavier weapons - essentially LMGs, rifles, satchel charges - were dropped at the same time. The FJs faced a two-fold challenge. First, they had to be able to collect their weapons from the canisters before the defenders fought them off. Then, lightly armed as they were, they had to be able to hold on until regular army units could reach them. Bruce's statement has a nice ring and makes for dramatic TV, but is utterly wrong!

  • Bro, the soviets were the first to experiment with airborne infantry, so the Germans were not the pioneers, second it was much before ww2 in the winter war in Finland that they were really used.

  • I think its pretty damn impressive that Bruce preserves every bit of history that he can, Allied or German. Listening to some twits whine that you cant preserve this or that because its hateful, is downright ignorant. Preserve all history

    • I'm not sure but here's an estimation from what I've seen them go for. The helmet would go for around 250, the blouse for about 500 and the the trousers for around 300. The belt and pouches together would go for around 300. So I'd say that the entire uniform would go for around 1350 Euros. These prices are based on what I've seen them go for on Dutch sites such as Marktplaats so outside of the Netherlands they will go for much more. The prices could also differ allot depending on the condition of the items.
