excellent review of the review
@@brianpatrick6388 Fantastic review of my review of the review!
This year I'm doing weddings on a GFX + an FZ and it's an insanely fun pairing. The ZF with the 40mm is so friendly, it changes the energy with people in a subtle but crucial way. I'm hooked!
Yeah I'm sold and I'm not even a photographer. All of the shots are *chefs kiss*
Thankya thankya
One of the better ZF reviews on YT! Great images! I’m thinking of buying this camera, but I only have the budget for one lens. Do you think the 40mm f2 is good as an all rounder? My other plan was to buy the Z5 with the 50mm f1.8 S..
I’m loving the 40mm it has stayed on the camera like 95% of the time!
Most well thought out review. Definitely would buy. Amazing job!
Great profile photo!
Beautiful images man! Loving my Zf too.
Hell yeah!
But fr, your video didn't have to go this hard and yet you did, I could watch you review gear all day Subscribed 🙌
Thankya max your too kind
100%
Loved this!
Thanks!
Great review man! Helped a lot in making my decision 😊
Yay I’m glad!
Maaaaan, I am happy that your video has been recommended to me by KZhead! I am a Fuji shooter (x100vi & x pro3) but this camera caught my attention. Beautiful video and Images, my guy.
I’m so glad you liked thanks my dude!
This is great! Shots are 🔥🔥🔥!
Ty sire!
Stfu!!! Fires are bad 😡😡😡
Great vid. You pretty much nailed why the Zf replaced a bunch of cams for me as well. Subbed.
lets goo
Great Video man :) Awesome Job :)
Glad you liked it!!
Aside from making a dope video, I like the fact that you actually SHOWED photos lol. There's a lot of talk on this platform, and not "enough" imagery to back it up.. You did tho ! Subscribed !
Yo appreciate it! I love when videos show examples I feel like I can get a better read that way
also: only looking at the photos I can tell how much I'm gonna trust this person's criteria/judging... so is actually key
Beautiful photos 👍
Hey thankyou!
Aesthetic and educational
😊
Yeah I’m gonna watch a 10 minute video about a camera review even though I only take pictures on my iPhone
Lolol
I've had a Zf for a few weeks now and have brought this with me more than all other cameras combined. It's in my bag now heading into work ... in an office ... with nothing really to shoot. But I have to have it with me. Super camera. I just wish they enabled IBIS for vintage lenses like Sony and Leica do (where the user selects the length of the lens). You're totally right about this camera fitting into to life better than others.
Super good point I hadn’t tried ibis with my vintage glass yet. Hopefully they decide a firmware update can add it.
I have IBIS with my Z7 and Soviet lenses. I have about 6 different IBIS focal length profiles set up and ready to use with the vintage lenses. I'm sure the Zf does this too.
Still wild you only have 818 subs. Better keep at it man because this was a quality video.
🥲
thanks for share ! like u video style
Thanks I like your comment
Refreshing
hey thanks
awesome vid
TY!
Great video! Love the Zf. Would you consider making some recipes for the creative picture profiles? They’re no Fuji but seems they can be customised pretty good. Dream if Nikon and Kodak teamed up and made some Kodak simulations
I’m sure I’ll mess with them more when I have time but sadly I haven’t been impressed with the recipes I’ve seen so far. The Kodak team up would be GOATed fs
I recently bough Zf and I really share the same feeling about it. Made me sold my fuji and Sony gear. You will be amazed by the Nikkor Z glass they are truly amazing! I currently use the 35mm 1.8S and for a 1.8 it punches way above it's weight! The rendering is amazing!! In a week or so I have already more than 3k pics taken so it really does make me want to shoot!
Amazing! I’ll have to check out that glass
At times I’ve enjoyed the Dream profile. It grows on you.
Wow really? I’m gonna have to try it for longer then
a man dressed in photographer fits reviewing this camera sold me
Ok ok! Sounds good to me
The Zf got me back into shooting and editing regularly. Just like you it made shooting fun and inspired again. Its always funny to see other pros that trash it just because it looks retro and doesn't have a user dial. On all of my other cameras u never used the User modes. I have been using, however, the B&W switch on my Zf. Since it still saves the color image, I'm not losing anything, I just feel like it helps me to focus on the subject matter before the colors.
Ooooo I like the black and white idea! Didn’t know it saved the color to imma try it now!
@@JerichoPatrick yeah it's pretty sweet. As long as you shoot in raw, it saves the color data behind the black and white. The only funny thing about it is that if you want to edit the b&w RAW image, you currently have to use Nikon's own editing software, NX Studio. NX Studio isn't bad, feels like a slightly outdated Lightroom that runs a little slower, but not horrible. If you open the b&w RAW images in Adobe Bridge or Lightroom, initially you'll see the b&w image but once Adobe's apps fully load the image in, they will only show the color raw image. A little quirky but not the worst thing ever.
@@BroccoliFugitive Just a quick tip. If you enable the camera profiles in Lightroom instead of using the Adobe ones only, when you import your raw BW, it brings it in with the correct profile (and still has the color info available also). If even allows you to use all the other Nikon profiles (including the 10 picture controls) in addition to the Adobe ones. Been a real game changer for me.
ok, subscribed :)

I like the footage when you are trying to take a picture and you put the shot up after you took the picture like at 5:27. Would you say this is mostly for still shooting?
Oh thankyou yeah the shots around then I was set up for both photo and video as much as possible. So I’m really trying to do everything but I’ve streamlined the photography part more so I can give it less attention because video needs more but I think the results are about 50-50. Hope that makes sense.
The most important part is some inches behind the viewfinder, second comes the light. 3rd is for sure the lens, then come, for long time, smaller aspects like location, model / subject etc. The least important, until you shoot some niche stuff, is the camera.
Yeah agree the camera plays some of the least important parts of a shoot but people don’t care about YT videos about the location that much 😢
I went from Fuji, to Leica, to Canon. The Canon is great but the lens situation is annoying and the body is boring. I need a happy medium. If the ZF was a 40mp it would be a no brainer for me…I love that Cam Mackey runs Sony glass on his which looks like a great choice for me. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! That is an interesting camera progression. It’s refreshing to see someone leave Leica sometimes I feel like people get locked in to defending expensive purchases. Yeah 40mp would be great but I’ll take the lower cost at this point! The Sony glass and Voitlander lenses look great 👍 shout out to cam for putting me on to the zf
40mm is very soft even in center up to f4. So it is actually f4 too
wish top and bottom plates were brass too 😩
Saaaaame
Wouldn't that add needless weight?
@bigd7696 true! But this is not the camera most practical camera if you’re worried about weight
dang man, you sold the f*ck outta me on this camera. im looking for a full frame compact camera and im stuck bt this and an A7c ii. still doing research and even considering just going with a x100vi(already on pre order) but man the images you got were great. did u do any video with this?
No video tests yet I separate my photo and video setups as much as possible so I just haven’t tried but I do think Nikon has a decent log codec just haven’t checked for myself. And thanks for watching appreciate ya!
Please tell me how you get such nice colours from Nikon digital
A great start is capture one but mostly just a lot of time comparing and color matching film
@@JerichoPatrickinteresting, so do you create presets in Capture One that you’ve matched by eye to film scans? I think I may need to bite the bullet and pay for Capture One…
@davidlr97 will make presets in capture one based on film I like yes but I try and make them for different settings and film stocks and they end up needing to be customized quite a bit. And yeah at least do the free trial but I think it’s ten times better tbh
Which lens are you using ?
40mm 1.2 retro from nikon
Sorry it’s the *40mm f2.0
