Except it isn't George Best never played at a World Cup nor even in the qualifiers for 82 he last played for them in 1977. he was only 12 in 1958 so wasn't involved there either. Northern Ireland should have qualified for 66 but conceded a late equaliser to Albania where the win would have put them in a neutral playoff v Switzerland, In 70 the Soviet Union beat them while in 74 Bulgaria and Portugal both finished ahead.

El Salvador both World Cup were marred by War/Civil War and corruption. The 1982 World they showed up just a few days before the first game, so they couldn't train nor acclimate to the climate. They also didn't even have a full squad. So it is a bit unfair.

@@joules_sw In Haitian football media its said that our dictator at the time Baby Doc bribed the match officials to disallow any goals Trinidad scored. Trinidad scored 5 goals but only one of them was allowed, had the goals been allowed Trinidad would've won 5-2 and finish first in the group, sending them to the World Cup
