Hey guys, master plane sucker here. The cabin is not pressurized because you’re low to the ground, so you don’t fly out of the plane. Pretty simple stuff

*Just to put 1 in 500,000 into reference,* the chances of dying (in the US) due to choking on food is 1 in 2,535. The chances of dying to a dog attack are 1 in 86,781. The chances of dying by lightning are 1 in 138,849. Often times, the scariest things are the safest, because the most precautions are taken.

- To be fair those other statistics are based on **ever** dying from those methods, i.e. the chance you die from choking on food at any point in life, someone doesn't die from choking once in every 2,535 meals; 1 out of every 2,535 deaths are from choking on food. The 1 in 500k chance is your chances of dying on each jump. Still astronomically low of a chance, especially since the chance of death is even lower if you're at a reputable location.

The plane didn’t suffer any rapid decompression when the door opened. That’s what sucks people out of planes. The plane didn’t have pressurized air in it escaping when the door was opened so nobody got sucked out.

The plane wasn’t pressurized by air, therefore there was no negative air pressure to force the air to escape. That’s why you didn’t get sucked out

Getting sucked out of the plane works like this: commercial aircrafts fly at very high altitudes where the air pressure is very low, so low that humans can’t breathe in such conditions. To solve that problem middle of an aircraft is pressurised. When suddenly on a high altitude there would appear a hole in the plane, all the pressure inside would rush out of the plane and there would appear an effect of a hole “sucking” the people out. But actually what is happening, the air is pushing you into the hole while escaping to equal the pressures. For the same reason when there is an emergency on board, the masks drop from above to let people breathe in case there is depressurisation of the aircraft. And now why in your plane Ludwig that effect doesn’t occur because you are at very low altitude compared to planes in the move and in real life, and pressures in and out of the aircraft are the same

The cabin of the plane you jump out of isn’t pressurized. Seeing as you’re only at 14,000 ft the air isn’t nearly as thin as it would be at cruising altitude.

Dude, when you go tandem, the instructor is doing all of the work. That is why there's no training required other than essentially being told not to freak out and position your body properly to make it easier for them. Wait until you try static, freefall, or IAD.

Hey A&P mechanic here. Commercial airplanes have a pressurized cabin at cruise flight. So if you pop a door off quickly it will rapidly depressive and suck you out the plane. The more ya know

You didnt get sucked out because your plane wasnt pressurized. Commercial airliners have pressurized cabins while small aircraft do not. No pressure difference, no vacuum created. No vacuum, no succ.

in a commercial plane they are pressurized. so when you open one of those the pressure leaves very fast creating the sucking motion. your plane isnt pressurized so thats why its fine

The inside of the plane was most likely not pressurized, so no suck out.

- In fact the reason there was no pressure was because there was no AC, so if there was an AC in the plane, when they opened the door everyone would feel a stronger pull. I don't think they would be sucked out, however, since the sucking you see on a commercial airline is due to them being 30-40,000 feet in the air, and skydivers only get up to half or less than half that, meaning the negative pressure outside is much less sucky.

Hey Ludwig, I don’t know if you are gonna see this but the reason you didn’t get sucked out of the airplane was because cabin of the Cessna you jumped out of wasn’t pressurized. (Pressurizing a cabin means to seal it airtight and pump it so instead of feeling the 30k feet that you are flying at it feels like sea level.) When an airplane door is opened with a pressurized cabin, the difference in pressure will suck you out, such as what happens in those horror movies. So you were in no danger of getting sucked out of the airplane by just standing there.

11:53 As a licensed pilot: AC heavy, plane light. That's literally it that plane already costs 6-7 figures they can afford an air conditioner, it's just heavy. On the sucking thing, you would only get sucked out by rapid decompression, but the plane you were in isn't pressurized, and as such max altitude is limited by Hypoxic Hypoxia.
