  • Love owling! And love the 200-600. I’ve found using DMF can help pinpoint focus through thick tree branches. This was fun!

  • Thank you for your videos...my feedback and please don't feel bad about it as it's in a positive spirit...there is too much clutter in the videos and less to the point, that way you can make it a shorter video to watch and interesting....i couldn't get the tips from this videa at all

  • Great video! I have the 7RIV and the 200-600 as well! How do you deal with noise? Thanks, great content

  • I have this problem of trying to find birds and aerial phenomenon in my camera's view. I was hoping this Sony trick might apply to my Canon; but I don't think I have the ability to choose small area focus. Maybe, I do and I just haven't found it yet. 🤷🏻‍♀ I love how tenacious the blue birds are with that owl! It always amazes me when I see small birds attacking hawks in my area. Monique's ability to stabilize that huge lens without a tripod is astonishing.

    • Sometimes practicing with binoculars first will help hone that skill. Sometimes I don't pick up that big lens for a couple weeks and have to learn all over again!

  • Great video, how many or which af points do you use?

    • For birds back in branches I use single point and manually move the point where I want it. Otherwise small, medium or large tracking.

    • Tough call! Steve recently admitted he is considering switching from the A7riv to the A1. But he loves the versatility of the 61 megapixels.

  • What focus mode and area are you using for those birds in the trees ? I have an a7 IV and 200-600 but often struggle in those situations to get focus to hit the bird :(

    • Oh..... focus small.... hmm... yeah I still often have problems locking on to the animal....... maybe I just need more experience....

    • It does take a lot of practice. Steve likes using the tripod to help. A trick is to zero in on birds with binoculars to practice spotting.

    • Also one of 2 questions I wanted to ask :) Other one would be: which tripod is Steve using? I am someone who rarely uses a tripod but since I started working on a ship as a wildlife Photographer and also love to film it makes sense to have one. Thanks for your reply and your helpful vídeos!

  • I hate the small focus spot on sony cameras cause it ain't actually that small to fit between branches that well. I bet thats why Steve is using manual focus on those situations. i wish the small focus spot was actually as small as a single dot like it was on Canon's old dslrs viewfinders

    @zampination@zampination Жыл бұрын
    • It seems small enough to me but that's a good idea to have an even smaller point. Steve's A7RIV is notorious for it's difficulty focusing. We found that out while comparing it to the A7RV.

    • @@CattailChronicles I use the a7rv and it's great regarding the autofocus but there are occasions that small spot still ain't small enough

      @zampination@zampination Жыл бұрын
    • I enabled DMF at all time in the settings of my a7rv and it works very well to guide focus then let autofocus do the last fine tuning.
