Indeed it was... Volvo has bad tires, is a lot older than that duster, is a lot heavier than duster, prices has huge difference, different drivers skills (Volvo had a bad driver)... I'm not a fan of both of these cars - Volvo always was a crap car, being useless at everything. Whereas Dacia is a good car, capable of doing almost everything that more expensive cars can do, but is cheaply made - plastics does cracking noise, drives not very comfortably, after a while You will want to get rid of it... but You get what You pay for... But I have to say, I was surprised of what a cheap car can actually do :D
Dominykas Stankevičius Volvos arent crap at all. I put 300,000 miles on my XC70 T6 and has no issues, and I beat the absolute balls off of it. Both cars are softroaders a Dacia isn’t an off roader and neither is a Volvo. They work very well for going down a rutted muddy drive way when they need to but both would make it pretty much nowhere in a real off-road place like Moab. both can be made to go much further than factory and brand intended yes but neither are designed for it. Dacia is built down to a price and is at its heart an econobox. Volvo is built up to to a price and is at its heart a luxury car. Also this test is horribly flawed, tires between them are wrong, the Volvo has winter tires AT M+S where as Dacia has better off-road tires by cooper though not great tires defiantly Better tire for muddy trails not speaking for R18 on Volvo vs R16 on Dacia. Additionally the Volvo driver defiantly wasn’t very good at off-roading and not putting his tires where they should go and couldn’t even fully disable DSTC system, which isn’t that hard, additionally Volvo driver was poorly modulating the throttle lot of ona me off making turbo noises which could cause you to bog down and get stuck. All in all for all advantages the Dacia had with better driver/better lines three mud and hills and better tires (huge part of it) and it really didn’t go anything the Volvo couldn’t, and Volvo also weighs a lot which makes off-roading harder.

Duster is so much better in off road . It has better 4x4 system . Check 4x4 test on rollers channel videos he tested all SUVs and AWD vehicles. Your Volvo is a shit on rollers and in off road.

The driver of the Volvo has no clue how to drive in mud and the tires are not made for this terrain. So, yeah, Duster is good but the test not so fare.
Cuánto va a durar el motor dci de la duster, siempre a muy alto régimen, y el embrague cada un año, nuevo!! Será mas barata y hara lo mismo que otros vehículos mas caros, pero se rompe rápido!! Y pongan al mismo conductor en ambos vehículos!!

Volvo driver need to get some lessons
Where I live the XC90 is the school run car off choice. I always giggle following them and they drive around puddles in the road.
The reason of why volvo has worse performance is the esp. If you make it off you will have an equal test.
Being light is a hell of an advantage off road, hence the good performance of your car, Lada Nivas and Suzuki Jimneys. But they wouldn't look so good in a towing competition!

Concluzie : Dacia Duster merge bine prin noroaie si...cam atat? Dusterul aici face fata fiindca e mai scurt, mai ingust si mai usor decat Volvo, iar anvelopele de pe Duster sunt dedicate off-road-ului, pe cand cele de pe Volvo sunt pentru iarna si tocite destul de mult. As dori un test on-road, sa comparam confortul celor 2 masini la drum de peste 500 km fara oprire cu 5 adulti + bagaje, test de impact, test de anduranta, tractare platforma de 4 tone cateva sute de km si sprint 0-200kmh.
I suspect Volvo missed a chance to make somethimg great with the xc90. Hi/lo centre diff and maybe variable height suspension and could have been amazing.
It's a SUV with security first, not a range rover!
Variable height air suspension is an option. I think Volvo designed with their motto objective "Volvo for life", meaning safety is the top priority. I find snow and mud driving depend a lot on the tires and driver's experience. The XC90 most often gets itself out of mud and snow if the driver lays off the throttle and just lets the Haldex transmission do its job at a low speed instead of spinning the wheels with no grip.

Salut.Sfatul meu daca vreti offroad adevarat folositi si cauciucuri dedicate pentru asa ceva,altfel nu se pune.
Eu cred ca acest test a fost facut doar pentru acele persone care ocazional mai merg la tara sau poate rara fac un pic de offroad nu pentru pasionati , da ca sa faci offroad ai nevoie de cauciucuri serioase pe langa alte modificari insa pentru cineva care sta la oras si rara merg prin noroaie este un test interesant
Frumoase mașinile...și ,amandoua, sunt foarte bune pentru grupul pe care îl acoperă : SUV de lux (pt Volvo) si low cost soft 4x4 (Dacia). Videoclip interesant, atat timp cat ramane la nivel ludic (probabil o mica comparatie intre niște amici). Continua cu videoclipurile....e bine....data viitoare faceți un drum de 800 km și comparați confortul la condus,volum de bagaje materiale oameni, transportabil,posibilități de campare în/cu mașinile....doar cateva idei.
TheTazzeye Detin doua xc90 7 locuri si 5 locuri si sunt fan Duster. Campare cu duster...nu prea.bancheta spate nu se culca complet incat podeaua sa ramana la nivel plat.sta ridicata putin si pozitia de dormit nu este tocmai ok. La xc90....hotel de 3 stele.2x1.4 m spatiu spate.Mai ales cel de 5 locurieste foarte ok pentru ca lipseste decupajul deranjant de la cel de-al treilea rand de scaune,dar in schimb ca minus fata de cel de 7 locuri,nu are deschidere haion din ineriorul habitaclului. Oricum,o saltea de 8-10 cm inaltime rezolva tot. Recomand o cutie tip Thule pt a nu fi nevoit sa muti bagajele inainte de culcare.

@@nicolaehirzob1093 Unul manual 6 trepte de 163 cai si conusuma 6-7 la drum lung ,chiar si sub 6 la mers linistit iar in oras 7,5 -9. Celalalt are cutie automata tf80sc 6 trepte 185 cai si conuma 12-13.5 in oras si 8,5-9 la drum intins.

this is not a well done !!!! ... The Dacia comes with speed and the driver does not let the car stop. The Volvo is slowing down and stops in the middle, then making the clutch point is easy to make it skid ... Any experienced driver can see it. These tests are bad for the brand itself.

Unic inconvenient al lui duster este ca nu montează un motor mai puternic în diesel...sa zicem un 1.6,136 cv ii ar venii pe perle. Ah si România este o țară minunată...iarna și vara este splendidă
Pe unii îi ajută marca dar cu cîteva exceptii si dacia este cam la fel ca alte marci iar unele sunt decor ca ori cu 75/300 cp tot pierzi permisul dacă nu respecți regulile, din lăcomie facem mașini de 2t si merge unul de 57kg cîtă risipă.
Constantin Militaru Am ales Volvo nu din lacomie,ci mai degraba din dragoste pentru familia mea si pentru cei care sunt pasageri in Volvo-ul meu. Iubesc Duster si este o masina exceptionala si versatila,dar nu se compara la siguranta cu Xc90. Prefer 2.2 tone de masina sub fund,dar sa il am asigurat

Yep. They have independent suspension, 4x4 amd that is not my foult that .duster is so much better in off road.
So the Volvo has winter mud and snow tyres on and the Duster has summer All terrain tyres on, in the summer. Try this again in the winter in snow and see who wins. Also, see who wins I the Euro Ncap tests. I know which one I would be buying.

Of course Volvo is a famous name in the World. But also name of Dacia-Duster going to a famous mark in the world. And also it is a Big advantage, Cheap and Brave. So, I love Dacia-Duster.
I would made a test but when the cars carry some baggage, because when you go on camping, it's not just you and the car. You have lot of things with you, and it's not fair because the Volvo it's heavier than Duster.

@@dorintudose4374 surpriza in XC90 nu a murit nimeni .... si cum prima varianta s-a fabricat vreo 13 ani (bine a avut un facelift prin 2006) dar tot aceiasi masina e ... cam, spine multe despre ea .
Itt nem a két autó versenyzett,hanem két különböző gumi.Ha jól láttam a dacián Cooper gumi volt(talán),a Volvón meg egy rossz állapotu nyári.Ez volt a döntő szerintem!

haven't checked the translation of the comments in Romanian, but, it's an easy question: Duster outperformed Volvo...and easily 😎....less heavy and capable tires (plus the driver 😉)...and there's something you are not telling us (yet): Duster was pulling Volvo at least once in that second muddy part.....a carabiner is dangling on the rear hook of the Duster ever since 6:30 (plastic cover removed) 😊😎
You have a good sense of observation😄 I did pull the Volvo because it got stuck in the ditches before the muddy part of the trail while going backwards to try and pass the muddy trail. 😁

@@MrSudanPresident _in this video is a xc90 2.9T6 with a very bad 4 speed transmission from GM(General Motors). The transmission can't handle the power of car this is why is having problems. In the D5,2.5T etc. is a Japanese Aisin transmission 5 or 6 that is very good_

I mean the Volvo is much better. Had the wrong tires on it anyway and dont forget it weighs almost 3 tonnes plus the bull bar which is not standard. Watch that dacia shitebox will be in the scrappy soon with a broken engine
No. Check 4x4 test on rollers channel, he tested all SUVs and AWD cars and Duster outperformed Volvo XC 90. Also Auto bild tested last time Duster on 100.000 kilometers and results in reliability were more than good. Only minor corosion was.

Me parece ridículo comparar un carro de Volvo con una de las marcas más malas del mundo. Por lo menos en Colombia son carros muy vendidos porque son lo más barato y a su ves lo más petardo de todo

Tampoco te creas que son una maravilla. El barro del video es un chiste y al Duster le cuesta traccionar con neumáticos mixtos. Son coches altos, nada más. En cuanto les metes por un caminito con un poco más de barro o roderas, te dejan tirado. Autoportantes, pesados, sin bloqueos ni reductora. Por menos dinero te compras un UAZ o un Lada Niva, y son TTs de verdad.

En carretera está claro que no es el mejor, pero fuera de éste, ... No tiene comparación. Ni siquiera el afamado Suzuki Vitara tiene esas cualidades offroad. Lo dicho, no es un todoterreno puro. Es como comparar un Nokia 3310 con un smartphone. El primero es básico, pero es el más resistente y el mejor en su gama. Un smartphone ya es otra cosa. Volvo es como un reloj Lotus y Dacia como Casio. ¿Son malos los relojes Casio (tengo uno desde hace 6 o 7 años con la pila original)? No, pero no son premium.

I have a 4wd duster too and i like it....but thats not the same camparisons ;) best all tiresystem dont work with good wheels..especially in heavy mud terrain. Thats i think u dont know What u write .
@@ek3310 The new Dacia's have come ona long way and are good value for money as long as you don't mind not having any luxury. Shame you're more likely to die or get seriously injured in a crash in a new Dacia even compared to this 15 year old Volvo. Dacia perform VERY poorly in crash tests and my family is worth more than that.
