¹MI200-01: World’s fastest data center GPU is the AMD Instinct™ MI250X. Calculations conducted by AMD Performance Labs as of Sep 15, 2021, for the AMD Instinct™ MI250X (128GB HBM2e OAM module) accelerator at 1,700 MHz peak boost engine clock resulted in 95.7 TFLOPS peak theoretical double precision (FP64 Matrix), 47.9 TFLOPS peak theoretical double precision (FP64), 95.7 TFLOPS peak theoretical single precision matrix (FP32 Matrix), 47.9 TFLOPS peak theoretical single precision (FP32), 383.0 TFLOPS peak theoretical half precision (FP16), and 383.0 TFLOPS peak theoretical Bfloat16 format precision (BF16) floating-point performance. Calculations conducted by AMD Performance Labs as of Sep 18, 2020 for the AMD Instinct™ MI100 (32GB HBM2 PCIe® card) accelerator at 1,502 MHz peak boost engine clock resulted in 11.54 TFLOPS peak theoretical double precision (FP64), 46.1 TFLOPS peak theoretical single precision matrix (FP32), 23.1 TFLOPS peak theoretical single precision (FP32), 184.6 TFLOPS peak theoretical half precision (FP16) floating-point performance. Published results on the NVidia Ampere A100 (80GB) GPU accelerator, boost engine clock of 1410 MHz, resulted in 19.5 TFLOPS peak double precision tensor cores (FP64 Tensor Core), 9.7 TFLOPS peak double precision (FP64). 19.5 TFLOPS peak single precision (FP32), 78 TFLOPS peak half precision (FP16), 312 TFLOPS peak half precision (FP16 Tensor Flow), 39 TFLOPS peak Bfloat 16 (BF16), 312 TFLOPS peak Bfloat16 format precision (BF16 Tensor Flow), theoretical floating-point performance. The TF32 data format is not IEEE compliant and not included in this comparison. www.nvidia.com/content/dam/en..., page 15, Table 1.

    @mizuhonova@mizuhonova2 жыл бұрын

      @shooppiChan@shooppiChan2 жыл бұрын
    • @@shooppiChan Well its more like the demand is too high for them to keep up, considering we are still on pandemic and the global supply and logistics were severely suffered last year and we are just recovering from it. Overall chip demand isn't just on consumer PCs, there is high demand on datacentres, servers, applianaces, small IoT and even vehicles. Too many products now uses some form of computer chips that we can't make them fast enough.

      @kornkernel2232@kornkernel22322 жыл бұрын
    • @@kornkernel2232 Many of the consumer items that now have chips, don't even need them. They have them because it's the new trend and it makes the product look better and more advanced than the competition. Like my fridge doesn't need to be able to connect to the internet and display weather or the news. Nor does my door lock need to have NFC so that I don't need a key to enter my house. What it will do is greatly benefit China's SMIC as sales of their chips will be greatly increased. Companies are all trying to cash in on the fact that we are going to need more and more chipsets in the future but fail to realize that it's heavily oversaturated and many of the new players will lose billions. SMIC is already big and a major chipsets maker that's poised to capitalize the growing demand. Another reason for this is bc of American intervention to prevent sales of advanced lithography machines to china; so their chipmakers aren't capable of making the top of the line chipsets, which are now in great demand. With the increase in demand for low end chips, SMIC I think will be a major winner as the more advanced foundries, namely TSMC, won't be focusing on these Low tech chips(low tech by their standards).

  • I use 4x MI250 for computational fluid dynamics simulations with 512GB VRAM total. Simulations with 10 billion (!) cells finish in a couple hours. They are absolute beasts, although it should be noted that 1x MI250 is actually a dual-GPU, containing 2x MI200 64GB in the same socket. They appear as separate GPUs in software, and are not the "128GB GPU" as marketed.
