I like Lasky, but I also wish they took Captain Del Reo in a different direction. I don't know why I love the scene in 32:30 where he is just looking out and thinking alone.

He's a great character. I love it when we see a character's growth through many different events. Lasky is a product of the actions of Chief and during Halo 4 Chief ultimately is a product of the decisions Lasky made to assist him. Pretty cool cycle of events.

Not depressed, at least certainly not in a clinical sense. The SPARTAN-II training programme was pretty heavy on conditioning the recruits to be able to deal with losses. They were "designed" to fight Insurrectionists who had no problems nuking 5m civilians. If they had tracked an Innie cell to a town of 100,000 say, and they knew there was a nuke hidden there due to be moved to out for an attack on a large civilian target the next day, they'd need to be capable of calling in a MAC strike and obliterating the town, and see it as a victory because they saved millions, not a crime that killed 100,000. That came in pretty handy during the Covenant War when they frequently had to abandon millions of civilians to save the few they could, and themselves, so they could keep fighting to save more another day. AFAIK, the only one who came close to cracking was Daisy-023, and they managed to talk her down, if a bit reluctantly

Some people didn't like how Cortana and Chief acted, but it makes perfect sense to me. Cortana thinks her life is ending, and Chief is a child soldier who fixes problems when he sees them, even if they are supposed to be impossible. Excellent character development

I absolutely loved H4. I think its the best one yet. I cant come up with a single nitpick. And Spartan Ops too. Campaign was definitely new and had that undiscovered feel to it whereas Spartan Ops was still undiscovered and adventurous but in a more zany way with those colorful and sometimes comical characters. It was just a blast. And them getting Halsey into the Spart Ops storyline was also super cool. CGI and especially the MoCap human renders were just off the cool charts. H4 I think is the best so far.

The part where Lasky and Chief are on the observation deck taking in the view of Earth, And Lasky says "Soldiers aren't machines, They're just people." hits me hard. As soon as he said it he realizes he had just figured out what Cortana wanted him to. He isn't the machine. The way the music kicks in, It makes your heart skip a beat, Chief has just discovered his humanity.

Encouraged her as much as many others in Cortana’s past tbfh. 343 just made it more dramatic and killed off cortan for 1 game for a cheap emotional hook. There was a sense of desperate loss losing her in the first place BECAUSE Chief was human and had come to see her as more than just a door opener. It was why we went after her in Halo 3. It’s why a promise was made in halo 2 to a machine. Etc

I think a lot of people just don't like "different" and that's played a big part in why so many hated 4 and 5, its a lot like chiefs armor in 4 and 5, I saw nothing wrong with it, but many more hated it.

@Brayden Pender Chief is 7'2" in full Armor and considered slightly above average regarding height of male Spartan II's. Male Spartan IV's are roughly 6'9" to 6'10" so this is not that big of a difference honestly.
What is scary is that he has augmented muscle to move his sute. Lock has a sute to increase his streignth. And when chief get the next gen sute it will boost even his streignth. And damn he already hella strong.

The books state that John was not the tallest, or the fastest, or the strongest, or the smartest of the Spartans. But what he did have, that the other Spartans didnt, was unstoppable will, and luck.
The saddest part here is that John has no idea how to express his feelings and how to process it. The S2 program literally destroyed everything that would make up what you would call humanity. A super soldier with only one goal in mind and that is to fight. The most they ever had in their lifetime is Halsey as their mother figure, and each other. For Chief, he had an addition being Cortana.
I think you are definitely right, but i think Chief is getting there towards becoming more human again. I dunno what is gonna happen with halo infinite but i think what is happening with cortana will really push out his feelings about everything they've done together through all the games.

Here though, for his friend, he is so patient. He is exhausted, his friend is losing her mind, and he doesn't get angry at her. It is so very human.

They didn't have the terrain scanned. They were on a blow through op. Cortana states that she likes a little more Intel with her Intel. That is because del Rio is a bad captain, which is why lasky replaces him after his failures. If del Rio had played it smart and sent a recon team, things may have turned out differently. But, the series is also based on a 90s or 80s vision of the future. Sure, in 2020 it would make more sense to have a targeting drone or something like that and autonomous ships, but not having those things brings more focus to the human side of the story

The Didact in Halo 4 was criminally underused IMO. If you want some more Didact stuff, he appeared in the Forerunner trilogy of novels that explained the events of the human-forerunner and flood war that led to firing the Halos. The Halo 3 and 4 terminals both give more depth to this event and provide a summary if you don't want to read a bunch of books. He was also supposed to appear in Spartan Ops Season 2, but they scrapped it due to fan backlash and gave him a comic.

The reality is younger gamers are coming on the field and if they land on Halo 4 first, it's not a bad thing at all. I dont care much for the online changes, i need to check out what 5 did but i didnt like what they did with 4, sprinting, boosters or jetpacks and armor abilities shouldnt be in halo. Honestly reach was the last halo game i truly had fun with and felt like it was a nice addition, some of the changes they made in that i was still not fully into but i found it kept me playing drastically longer than 4. i can hardly remember 4, and most of the people i know havent played 5 and kind of dismiss it to the history books, but i still need to look more into the mechanics and multiplayer changes of 5 to fully understand and come to a conclusion on what i think of it, the story was pretty meh though.

Halo 4 was amazing, Single Player was a great way to start cracking into Chief's human side relationship bond with Cortana. Halo 5 ruined it all with Locke as the main character.

THE ENDING OF HALO as far as I'm concerned. Victory over the Forerunner threat, Cortana dies, Chief rediscovering his humanity a bit....a beautiful ending. Halo 5 never happened as as as I care. If Infinite is truly a masterpiece and brings the whole thing home in a satisfying way, maybe it can redeem this trilogy. If not, then Halo 4 remains the grand finale of the franchise.
Yeah when I played this through the first time I felt like "this isn't halo" but coming back years later I really like the direction 343 took halo in in this game. It's more drama and story than the other halos but I can appreciate it. Just why did 5 have to suck so much ass ughhh
@@galacticsurf979 Yep, Halo 5 is The Last Jedi of Halo....but at least Halo 4 didn't have a cliffhanger ending like The Force Awakens. You can stop at Halo 4, skip over the credits scene, and feel satisfied. If Infinite Sucks....then the MCC will be the complete Halo Journey for me. Would love to see them create Anniversary editions of Halo 3 and Halo 4...they could both have the same new graphics skin and have their cut-scenes remastered by Blur and match the H2 cutscenes....I would be more interested in that than anything else out of Halo IF Infinite sucks.

Sarge is my favorite, I also like Jorge, lasky, cutter, buck, and shipmaster. I don't think I have to mention chief, Cortana or arbiter. I feel like Palmer is an underdeveloped character that I want to like. Some characters also could have become favorite characters if they weren't killed off so fast

One of my biggest gripes about this campaign is the lackluster end to the Didact. I’ve seen the comic to his eventual death but that was even worse!
Would you prefer a drawn out battle where you shoot him with a million bullets in his glowing red spot like every other video game? Or does it make sense that chief was really screwed in the power difference between them and took his opportunity to destroy him in one shot like a real tactical soldier would do when they are at a huge disadvantage? Because if you think about it, didact has god level powers compared to chief, and any boss battle would undermine the difference in power between the 2. Also boss battles require creating an ai for the boss, and anytime you face an ai in a video game, it makes the boss feel stupid when you end up exploiting the ai weakness. I like how they sent Cortana out with a bang. But a slug fest or a shootout with didact would make no sense

The didact should have been a way better villain and spartan ops should have been something that continued through to halo 5. 343 really screwed up. It’s as if they just gave up on story lines and all. And the fact that they hinted to the forerunners still being alive somewhere in Cryptum, primordium and silentium all of which tie into halo 4 then they should have used those plot lines rather than the crap about Cortona turning rogue. I do hope halo infinite is much better

@@GundamReviver Halo 5s plot is epic. It sets up halo infinite perfectly. The problem is the way that halo 5s story is told. Too much focus on characters that we don't care about, or have been given a reason to care about them. Some dull set pieces. A short story that ended without chief actually accomplishing anything. And some of the forerunner enemy types didn't feel right. Just infinite teleporting bullet sponges. But evil Cortana becoming a galactic police force and taking over ancient forerunner ships and technology and forcing human and covenant to work together to defeat her? Epic. Blue team? Epic. Visiting Sanghelios? Epic. Guardians? Epic. Weapon designs? Epic. Buttery smooth gameplay? Epic. If they had done a few things differently, halo 5 would've been perfect. They should've focused less on Locke since hes kinda a mercenary and it would be hard to get anyone to care about him. Focus more on buck since everyone loved him in odst. Chief should've been the main focus along with blue team. More inspired forerunner enemies so that it didn't feel like I was killing a forerunner clone over and over again. Less reliance on being revived by teammates. I found that I went down really easily and was constantly relying on ai teammates to revive me, when I know I have beaten most halo games on legendary without ai help. My biggest issue is that its the only main halo game thats only there to setup the next halo game. It feels alright when halo wars 2 does this because it's smaller budget and has a smaller audience. But there's no excuse for a main story halo game to be filler content in-between halo releases
Halo 4 is like the Star Wars prequels At the time not much love for it , but after some time passes and we get the train wreck that was Halo 5 next thing you know halo 4 was amazing 😂

Halo 4 had my favorite sp campaign, the mp I didnt really care for. Halo 5 was almost the opposite. Disliked the sp but enjoyed the mp alot.

Halo 4 is by far my favorite halo game story wise of all time. It really gets into Chief as a person and less as a soldier. I fucking hate the elite design change, but the story is spot on in my opinion.
Most of the design changes were ass and the promethians while cool are annoying to play against and the ammo constraints are so annoying, but the actual story is good
They needed to use halo wars 2 design of elites. Should’ve kept the art style more similar to bungie’s.

an underrated part of this whole thing I think is the ending when his armor is removed and the chest plate falls to the ground and doesn't even move. it just lands and that's it. that's how fucking heavy that armor he's wearing is. no one seems to appreciate that aspect of spartans, just how goddamn strong they are

Thats harsh. Its not _that_ bad. Its not a terrible game. Its just trying to follow the greats that came before it and failed to live up to them. Plus the the multiplayer is actually pretty good. Most fans will tell you that. I get your dissapointment though. Thankfully Halo 6 is looking pretty damn good.

Plus the multiplayer took years to get where it is now compared to every game that gave a heck of a lot more content on the spot and if I were to choose a better multiplayer I would go for a game that feels fun to play with friends like halo 3 compared to the dumpster fire that is halo 5 plus multiplayer feels like a competitive game more than a game for enjoyment, I cannot forgive the fact it got rid of the best part of having an xbox which was split screen. To show you how much halo 5 sucks you should look at the first thing you see when loading a halo game the starter menu. You can see what and how you should feel when play this halo game just by looking at all of the starter menus than look a halo 5 soulles with no real redeeming qualities and no feeling except for one feature where if you stay on the menu for 5 minutes a grunt will fly past the screen. Also yeah the new halo looks pretty good

As my first x box game I thought this was the coolest game ever. Even after finding out that this game was mostly hated among the other games, I played them after getting the MC collection and I think halo 4 is still underrated. Halo 5 is definitely worse though
Seeing how Laskey here interacts with Chief, coming from the Forward Unto Dawn movie, really shows how much he respects and revers the Spartan.
Halo 4 really does hold up well graphically. I believe the lead artist was also in charge of Uncharted 4 which makes sense because both of them look incredible.

Why did they change Cortana's appearance in Halo 5? She looks amazing in Halo 1-4, especially Halo 3 & 4.
She is technically a different version of Cortana. The Cortana from 5 is one of the rampant clones that she created towards the end of the game. the REAL Cortana died.

Sasha Yudin yeah. She went to a forerunner library of sorts called the domain, and there she was able to find a cure for rampancy, so she essentially became immortal.

@@sasha_yudin504 I suspect that part of the answer is that H4 Cortana is meant to be a sympathetic heroine, hence the huge eyes, full lips, and generally very conventionally attractive model, whereas H5 Cortana is the main antagonist, with sharper features, a new outfit with a military style collar and less... flesh? on display. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if you compared the 2 models to find that her tits got smaller, too, because humans are still basically horny monkeys, and automatically ascribe more positive attributes to attractive people and things
I've always heard that Halo 4 was bad but WOW is that a perfect campaign. They really outdid themselves. It made me tear up a few times, and I'm not even a hardcore Halo fan.
Story wise the campaign is amazing but gameplay wise it was terrible

It was the Halo 3 diehards that screwed up the vision for Halo 5. They thought that 3 can do literally nothing wrong to the point that they'd probably insult Combat Evolved or 2. Those boomers screwed up Halo's future as much as the prequel whiners destroyed Star Wars.

Probably a reference to Spartans being wary about working/integrating with AI. Chief actually wasn't entirely sold on Cortana at first. Iirc from other references, he wasn't really sold until Operation: First Strike.
Killing the Didact was not a good choice, he was a perfect villain to into more lore of halo and forerunners and maybe see the origins of flood precursors and them in a game.... 343 can't choose a proper villain, Halo 4 Didact, Halo 5 Cortana and now Halo Infinite it's the banished... 343 doesn't know how to stick to one villain.
The didact's consciousness survived. He was literally gonna be in halo 5

Good or bad, a lot of people just don't like change. Halo 4's campaign had a lot more good change than bad, imo. It's way more cinematic, all the characters are more fleshed out, and the plot progression isn't quite as schlocky as the previous 3 games. The villain is honestly kinda lame. Definitely not as compelling as Truth , Tartarus, or Guilty spark, but he's still passable I guess. On the other hand, you have Halo 5 which had a handful of incredibly shitty changes that completely overshadowed whatever positive changes it made, the number one issue making Locke the main character instead of Chief. I mean seriously, what were they thinking??? But yeah, I agree with you. I actually think Halo 4 and Reach have the best Halo campaigns.

@@CheekiTiki Imo the Didact in Halo 4 is a complicated subject, because he's not simply a character. Thematically, the Didact represents the Master Chief. The Didact fought for the Forerunners, lost everything, and spent eternity in his Cryptum and came out a shell of a man. If Chief kept on fighting for the UNSC, losing people, and going back into his Cryo-pod to finish a new fight, he'd be a shell of a man, and a shell of a character. Cortana saving him from the Didact represents the intimate, human connection that the Didact didn't have, which is how Chief won and why he's a better man than the Didact. That's more so just interpretation though, the actual lore reason for it is the Ur-Didact (the one we fight in Halo 4) has the logic plague. He's essentially infected by the Flood, which is why his motivations seem so single-minded. Of course, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like the Didact was a more compelling final boss than Tartarus, or a more satisfying villain to kill than Truth, but he was specifically made for Halo 4's story, and for that he was good imo.
@@tTaseric Was this confirmed in the books that he was infected by the logic plague? I was under the assumption he had a deep rooted hate for humanity prior to the flood outbreak due to the Forerunners finding out the Precursor's chose humanity and not them to uphold the mantle.

It's insane how good the interactions with the Didact are after you read the Forerunner trilogy of books. Everything he says just makes so much more sense and adds soo much to the story. It's like playing it for the first time again.

The planet is Requiem. Bungie MADE that cutscene. So, tell me how 343 all came up with Halo 4 ? In Halo 4, master Chief and Cortana are STILL stuck in the ship while orbiting the planet. How is 343 not listening to Bungie's story ? I mean, I guess you could say why are the covenant bad again in Halo 4. That's because they're a fanatical faction lead by Jul M'dama. You see it's not the full covenant because there's not brutes in it. I mean, after a 32 year war with the covenant, you really think things would stay the same just because in halo 3, the elites have a truce with humans and that they have to stop the flood ? Of course the war would start up again because there's probably some elite out there that believes the prophets. There were definitely a lot of elites that believed in the prophets. Sure, maybe it's not Bungie's lore, but it makes sense. If anything makes sense, then it works out.
