Even though it's such a small detail Using a minecart chest in order to prevent a Hopper from locking in the reward system was so clever it actually made me laugh. I've been trying to solve a problem like that in one of my redstone builds for a while.
Seeing that solved a few problems for me too, a small detail that I doubt I would have come up with myself

Just a head up for anyone who has this issue, when I first built this, it didn't work, the Redstone block on the top wasn't sticking to the sticky piston so what I did was I added a repeater pointed towards that sticky piston and that fixed it
yeah, Im using this on me modded server, I added a mod too late so the loot related to it didn't generate so Imma just start a shop so players can buy the stuff that they can't get from structure chests, really helpful indeed

Actually ive founds some cons. 1. If i have a reward item mount thats 32 multipayments wont work. 2. I cant put more than the price. If so, first it will take the diamonds i put in and when i add enough to reach the price it only gives 25.
I finally figured out how to make a vending machine that can figure out how many of a certain item you put in and give a different output for each number of items Only problem is that it is huge The cool part is that you put all the items in the same place and it outputs all the items in the same place

Is there possibly a way to do this without having ~ a stack of payment items in it? I want to build like 20 of these for a shop and that is a LOT of diamonds. Still an awesome video tho!
Unfortunately no
What you could do is make a form of currency that uses diamonds as a ratio so like 10 (insert name) coins for each diamond put in. Then, use the coins as the payment in the rest of the machines. Hope this helps. (long story short, make a bitcoin that only works for your shop.)

Make the original floor have a hopper and comparator leading into the shop's front comparator, removing that now-opposing redstone block. Set your pricing with the hopper, and cover that up with carpets. If you don't like carpets, then I'm afraid this design isn't going to work for you.

It is an infinite digit code, depending on how much space you have.
If you use a stacked-nonstackable item filter (watch a cubicmetre video), then you don't have to waste a full stack of payment items for the filter.

Wow! Can you make this thing, but instead of barrel you throw diamonds in the hopper, and get items from dropper? On the server I am playing people can't use barrels, chests or like that.

well i designed a 3 block shop. so you have a barrel/chest and then below you have a hopper and then below another barrel/chest. a 3 block diamond stealer.

This setup sadly doesn't work for my situation. I compared my build to yours several times and everything seems to match. As soon as I try doing multipayments for items over 11 it will start a new order and take payment before fully processing the current one. For example I can have a 4:48 ratio. During the first order the shop takes 4 and gives 48, during the second order the shop takes 4 but only adds 11 items before starting the third order and taking 4 but only dispensing 11 again. Am I doing something wrong when setting up the reward system or is this a limitation of the system?

I'm also having this issue- ive noticed that the two hoppers that have the item being dispensed minus 1 take a while to transfer back and forth and if payment is inserted while the first hopper is refilling, it will only dispense the number of items equal to the number that was present in the hopper at the moment of the transaction while it was refilling. i wonder if there is a workaround to make the hopper refill faster somehow?

I've used this several times in java and it's been great. I'm trying to use it in bedrock and it doesnt work. The issue seems to be with the target block and the piston being powered but doesnt know it part of the build. It seems to know it and drains all the items from the hopper with shovels. Any ideas on how to fix that part?

You can still copy an item name just by putting it in an anvil and copying the name and pasting it to another of the same item.

If I mirror this design, will it still work?
This doesn’t work…at least not 1.20+ or for for multiple payments. (At least for me). It always works with a single payment (regardless, as long as the top reward clock can reset). Otherwise for multiple payments, the max items dispensed for purchases 2+ when processing will only pay out 9 items. I tried to fix it but didn’t have the time so I ended up going with Rex’s & T2’s. I still subbed as there are some unique redstone ideas that I’ve used elsewhere.
