Cast net, Cat food and Zip-ties are all we needed to catch these massive Shrimp. I was invited by my good friend Joey Antonelli to help wrangle up some jumbo sized white Shrimps on this video. We had heard stories of catfood working great as chum for this species of Shrimp so we decided to try it out and we were very surprised by what we found out!

Thanks, Captain... God bless you.
i love that size when they show up in the Bug bend.Great eating and great bait for Snookies
I loved cast netting for shrimps or any bait in the gulf. Love big throws. Threw near a cleaning station one time and caught a baby thresher shark, about 11 inches long.
Same =]
Wait till you get a net full of baby hardhead catfish.. net ruined because they have barbed fins and are almost impossible to get out. Not fun.
@@moonpiespotlight4759that's not ever bad man. Try catching saw fish. They literally rip your net apart before you bring the net on land. Catfish stuff is frustrating for sure not nothing like "nearly impossible".
watched video at beginning of it i saw you where on 66th ave in Vero Beach ...right past our home.....LOVE your videos and Joey also . keep them coming ....
Yes good eye! That's my cut through from I95 to sebastian. Thank you! 🙏
Am I the only one that had a huge sigh of relief when he finally dumped the shrimp onto the ice?
Shrimp stay alive surprisingly long out of the water. As long as they're damp they'll still be alive.
Awesome! Those look so delicious!
🦐🤙
I hit the like button right after he said "1 throw of shrimp right there" and then showed the catch !!
I miss the Cozy Kitten Cat food, best chum ever
Come to Pamlico Sound in NC. They get even bigger. We refer to large white shrimp as GREENTAILS!!! Everyone waits for them to show up. I really like your fix with the zip tie. PURE GENIUS!!!!
Sounds like fun!
Wow, Nice! I follow Joe and I almost wasn’t gonna watch you😬 sure glad I did. New subscriber 🤑👍🏿👍🏿
Thank you 👍
Those were some giants, awesome vid!
Yes I was pleasantly surprised by how big some of them were. Lobsters!
Those shrimp were giants nice job 👊
💪🍤
Awesome cast net fishing for shrimp
Thank you ❤️
Nothing like dip netting at night.what a mood setting thing.like your own aquarium.
I agree!
Looks so good
👍
Awesome
We catch em on bait here in SC...it's hard work but fun!
I throw cast net to get shad for cut bait to catch catfish. One time my 5ft net, I pulled about 150 4in shad. It was so many I couldn't get into boat. But I had bait for days
Idk how to catch them but when I peel em I like the tail on and I’ll get my finger and scratch the whole underneath starting at the tail going to the front and that breaks the whole bottom part of the shell the I just unwrap it
Make stock out of the shells for soup. Yum!
👍
Yes yes
Wow..those look like green tales what you where holding..
I just subscribed to your videos will see more of them soon
I was just schooled. Nice work.
I am wondering where you are at! I live in SC, and we catch the same kind/color shrimp here and we call those white diamonds.
Good net skills
Thank you! 🥞
Are those prawns? When do they curl before eating?
When you tie the catfood can to the float..is the can on the bottom of the water? Or the can near the surface?
Wow, absolutely slayed
Great video. just subscribe what months seem to be most productive.
We catch some time 1-2# each throw of shrimp here in SW LA. in the marsh. I seen when they runnin.. 2-3# a throw..
💪
When they running?
7:00 goodbye little fishy have a great life haha
😅
That bird made quick work of that fish there
brother thats a lot of shrimp .. yum yum.. what size of cast net were you using
Yes they were delicious. it's a 14 foot net.
what is the basket called? or the brand i’ve been trying to find one
That looks like a area I went before called Fort Desoto fl..🤔
Incredible! In Va we are seeing the same species where we have never seen them before. Same size but in the fall,by winter they thin out. Location?Indian River?Near Sebastian?
That's awesome. Yea I was in the Indian river
@@CaptMattBudd Thank you for the reply. Sebastian is my second home. I left there years ago and can’t wait until I move back.
It's a beautiful area forsure
What area were you shrimping?
Ur underated
💪🏼
the exotic was a cuttlefish. Good eating!
We never ended up using it for bait. He deserved freedom!
Where is this at?
Sick video, how deep was it where you were throwing?
About 12 foot
@@CaptMattBudd thanks
Nice skrimpy skrimp
🍤
Skrimp !
try braking live clams with a hammer and using that for shrimp bait
What size Mesh is your cast net? Is it 1/2" Mesh with a 1' stretch?
Neither, u wanna use 3/8 mesh for shrimp
Just get a wood bbq stick Put it up tail , push up toward head , give it some twist, poop vein will wrap round stick then pull out walah
Separate the bottom half of the head from the top boom sea spiders those are perfect size for it
So lucky ass!!! I'm trying to find out where in texas I can do this. Literally no videos here... wonder if u actually can here...
Yes, you can get shrimp like this here on Copano Bay around Rockport. Right now in the fall is the best time to get the big ones.
There’s shrimp heads I see them in a bag and freeze them and then I Come the water with them the big red face and snapper will be the only one to eat them other than a bunch of crabs just letting you know
Are you throwing on the bobber?
I did on that one cast and then retrieved when the net brought it up.
Nice! I was curious if the fish finder would pick them up.
Yes in our situation it picked up small spots
If you take an ice pick you can stab holes in the can and you don't have to pull the top on it
👍
9:45 🥘🍴I am ready
🔥
What kind of cat food flavor do you find works best?
I think they would all work. Probably because they stink so bad! 🤣
Capt. Matt Budd oh, ok. I thought maybe one of the seafood types might work better but didn't know. I'll have to try that next time I'm getting bait. Thanks
Friskies prime filets, chicken and gravy flavor
Would canned tuna work also ??
@quentinjones4588 yes...
I wish you would tell us how to throw a perfect cast with that net
I already have in another of my videos!
@@CaptMattBudd I found it and man you really know how to throw those large ine absolutely PERFECT!!!
I'd just be saving everything except the poopline for a shrimp stock. Otherwise your cleaning method is fine.
I actually save the shells and heads in the freezer for sheepshead chum.
The head is the best part though
🦐 🧠
What part of the country are y’all shrimping?
Florida
What the name of that place ?
Bigen shrimp, I bet I can eat that just with a dip of soy sauce.😄
can I tag along with you, next time you go to catch shrimp
Nice video Do u charter ? I would love to do this Thx
Yes I charter but this shrimp thing isn't very common in my area.
I live in Melbourne Florida I assume u not so far from me if charter this shrimp thing plz lmk thx
@@CaptMattBudd lmk if u charter this shrimp thing
I never had a problem eating the poop line? am I wrong?
It won't hurt you. Some people just don't like to eat poop 💩🤣
Quite the windup for a 14' net... but good job.
this video needs to be renamed, "Castnet, Catfood, Zip-Ties, and Booger Whistle for Huge Shrimp!"
Guys guys guys guys guys guys
🍟
Was this recent? Thought they were gone by now
Two months ago.
@@CaptMattBudd can’t be given out the secrets to competition!
Where were you shrimping can you tell me the area or is it a secret I wish you would tell the area I’m not close you won’t steal All the shrimp from you lol and please show haven’t broadcast at you doing very well thank you
If want to throw all that in my live well
Beautiful! That was incredible. What size net was that? Looked like about 10 foot with 1/4 mesh?
It's a 14' net with 1' stretch mesh
@@CaptMattBudd thanks. I would have never guessed it was 1” mess
Where are you? Sebastian?
Yes
Who is the other guy is it Joey
Yes it's Joey Antonelli 🦘
Отварить! Да под пивко!!!
👍
Guess u like eating cat food😂
Have Boat... Net & Will Travel. Ho is Up ?
😉
Let DNR or FL DNR get a hold of you with the catfish food, bye bye boat and hello jail
😂🍤🚔
There's no law against chumming for scrimps in Florida.
should have let the little cuttlefish go free.
We did. Never ended up going fishing! 👍
@@CaptMattBudd right now he's telling his buddies about how he was taken aboard an alien ship with a bunch of shrimp and none of them believe him.
No, he must die for your sins.
doesnt that mean hes eating catfood
😜
I mean shrimp are just big bugs when you think about it, the cat food is probably the most appetizing thing those shrimps have ever eaten. They mostly survive by eating fish poop.
Does not look like Jupiter to me.
Definitely not!
Put salt water shrimp in fresh water while alive and they will poop out and be clean
👍
Sorry not to be rude but just to let u know those are prawns
They're actually white shrimp
@@CaptMattBudd are u sure wait do they have long legs
No!!! You gotta eat those! Dont waste such huge shrimp on bait...omg!

Not a fan of the cat food. We don't need more trash in or waters.
The cat food is eaten by everything in the water and the float and empty can are picked up and reused.
Did I miss the part where you did the right thing and retrieved the can of cat food and the line and bobber, or did you just say "fuck it" and leave it, further polluting our precious environment? But, hey, you slayed the shrimps, that's all that matters to you guys, huh?
Since it'll make you feel better I'll let you know that after letting it chum for us for a while we pulled it up. Didn't think I needed to include that part the video or I'd be attacked by someone. Nothing quite like accusing people of being careless, terrible people though. 🤙
To the person that made the s.a. reply about leaving can, u and people like u, are the problem with our country.
Just wanted add to the foul mouth complainer. Clean it up, it shows ur IQ.
