Trying to keep the spirit of "old time hockey" alive through this channel as well as my podcast. I interview former enforcers and fight fans from across the country to hear their stories and share memories of the "good old days"

  • At the 93’ trading camp in Big Bear, I played basket ball with Marty and Wayne Gretzky. The whole time Wayne kept saying,” Marty, the little shit’s a goalie! • Yeah, that incident was very unfortunate and marred his imagine in the eyes of a lot of 'casual' fans and/or people that don't follow our great sport. Casual fans/non-fans simply saw it as one player hitting another player over the head with his stick. It is funny how you don't hear people running Bobby Clarke's vicious slash on Kharlamov from 1972 and what kind of series changer that was. If anything Clarke was/is considered a hero for what he did, as he took one for the team. Or in that case, he took one for our country. Yet McSorley is viewed as a criminal by the casual fans, still to this day.

He could have signed a few then gone down in the players area like everybody else, but he stayed up in the stands and signed for all these kids and other fans. The Brashear thing was unfortunate but it was not a true indication of the way Marty played. He was a good defenseman and was a key part of the Kings first Stanley Cup finals.
