What mark did Johan Cruijff leave on the world of football?
Legendary managers like Arrigo Sacchi and Arsene Wenger describe the influence that Cruijff has had on football, both as a player and as a manager, in recent decades. Representatives from the new generation like Pep Guardiola, Ronald Koeman, Frank Rijkaard, Dennis Bergkamp, Wim Jonk and Peter Bosz are also followers of Cruijff's view of the game.
Additionally, writer David Winner (Brilliant Orange), historian Hubert Smeets, and Taco Dibbits (director of the Rijksmuseum) help understand Cruijff's influence from a cultural and historical perspective.

i find Cruyff slightly overrated,both as a player and manager. Yes he was one of the best players in the 70s along with Rivellino,Gerd Muller and Beckenbauer but i wouldnt include him in the top 5 of the greatest of all time,as some people do. He only won one Champions League as a manager and got destroyed by Milan in 1994. His so called dream team is overrated.Romario,Stoichkov and Laudrup were world class but the rest were average. 93-95 Milan,96-98Juventus,95-96 Ajax and 98-99 United were the better teams in the 1990s.

Cruijff. Ik heb je weleens vervloekt. Toen je AJAX verliet in 1983 en 1988 bijvoorbeeld. Uiteraard had je achteraf altijd gelijk. Ook met de revolutie (2010). Jouw liefde voor AJAX werd mij toen extra duidelijk. Iedere echte Ajacied houdt daarom voor altijd van jou.

@@Doggomorph I was 9 at the time. I said Cruijff was right. He played only one season because he was physically burned out. Still he brought Feyenoord the double. The last double 38 years ago. 🙂

@@Doggomorph Yes, at a very young age. Too bad i was too young to see him between 1965-1974 when he was at his best. Cruijff was the greatest and certainly the greatest player/coach combined. Yes, i know Fandi was on trial in 1982/83. Fandi was good enough but AJAX already had too many foreign players. Back then a club could only have 3 foreigners in the first 11. He was a good player but the weather conditions were his biggest enemy. He played for FC Groningen for a while.

I sometimes think Johan Cruijff as a phenomenon is a purely Dutch thing. A small country with a bright shining football star. Video's like this are a beautiful reminder of how far his light truly shined. A true Dutch rolemodel, a hero for footballing kids all over the country and beyond.
Als ik de motoriek van Cruijff zie, krijg ik altijd kippenvel. Net zo'n gevoel als wanneer je hele mooie muziek hoort. Ik kan het niet uitleggen, maar zijn bewegingen zijn zoveel soepeler dan elke andere voetballer die ik ooit heb gezien. Een bewegingswetenschapper zou na onderzoek waarschijnlijk tot de conclusie komen, dat Cruijff een zesde zintuig heeft voor zwaartekracht.

Schitterende documentaire, bedankt! Ik groeide op met de geweldenaar Cruijff op de buis. Samen met mijn vader op de bank genieten van iedere bal-aanname, schijnbeweging, onmogelijke pass... om die vervolgens eindeloos na proberen te doen met mijn voetbalmaatjes. Voor mij de beste voetballer aller tijden. Prachtige herinneringen, wat gaat de tijd toch onverbiddelijk snel.

Cruijff en Rembrandt zijn grootmeesters die maar eens in de honderd jaar voorkomen. Je moet geluk hebben, om deze personen mee te mogen maken. Cruijff heb ik godzijdank altijd kunnen volgen. Wellicht zie ik beiden nog eens terug in de volgende wereld. Maar Johan blijft voor altijd op mijn netvlies gebrand.

Dat allerlaatste wat Johan zegt, is wel het mooiste, dat er ontstellend veel kwaliteit in de jeugd rondloopt. Johans droom was denk ik toch om de allerbeste jeugd van nederland allemaal bij ajax binnen te halen, om op die manier uiteindelijk met eigen jeugd weer groot te worden in europa, en het nederlands voetbal daarmee naar een hoger plan te brengen

Respect, but, as told in this movie about AJAX. It was Rinus Michels in that time coach from AJAX who wanted Bobby Haarms in 1966 as his assistant. Haarms in 1966 without trainer license and Michels accepted only total discipline from the player otherwise you could leave the team. So this movie indicates more that our Johan Cruijf was the genius of total football. But for total football most of the credits belong to Michels/Haarms. They are the master minds behind total football. It was Cruijf (the Messi from the seventies) who loved this kind of playstyle. Charismatic as Cruijf was, he and the rest of the players adapted quick and a new kind of play style was born. Cruijf got in those years the basics of training a team who he used later as a coach. But the foundations of total football worldwide started in those days by AJAX and is done by the whole AJAX team end of the sixties.
Vergeet Ernst Happel van Feijenoord niet. Daar speelde toen geen Cruyff maar was al wel het totaal-voetbal geïntroduceerd. Ook Feyenoord won als eerste club de EuropaCup en de Wereldbeker.

Cruijff heeft ook gezorgd dat het huidige Ajax er weer veel beter voor staat, met zijn 'revolutie' bij Ajax zo'n 8 jaar geleden, en daarna werd de jeugdopleiding weer versterkt en je ziet nu weer veel talent doorkomen, met hoogtepuntevn als de ligt, de jong, gravenbergh, en nu ze maar op. Dat heeft allemaal met de herstructurering bij Ajax te maken, waar nu weer voetballers de voetballers opleiden. Die man was uniek.
Herinneringen maken, daar is Ajax goed in. Over 10 jaar zal niemand meer weten dat Liverpool in 2019 de cup won, maar zullen ze allemaal Ajax herinneren als beste ploeg. De finale tussen Milan en Liverpool in 2005 was niet best, maar word herinnert door de spectaculaire ontknoping. Ajax in 1995, word herinnerd als een talentvolle lichting, met leuk en goed verzorgd aanvallend voetbal, evenals Barca 2006 -2011. Als je welk voetbaldier ook vraagt in de wereld over herinneringen op voetbalgebied, dan zal Ajax altijd top 3 staan, van indrukwekkendste teams.

I would not agree the 1973 ajax was a little less good than ajax 1972. On the contrary. Two legs ajax versus Real Madrid are the epitome of total football and ajax class for instance. They were invincible.
