  • The new design for the Oracle imho is quite appealing indeed, also somewhat nostalgic: kinda reminds the looks of a brand of asian ocarinas (Focalink / Stein) that was popular years ago, it has that pretty similiar brownish, burnt-wood glossy look.

  • Hey Andrew , great video though. Missed your live stream due to timing differences. My question is, how is 109 pro compared to HD650? Yes HD 650 works wonders with tubes but in terms of the treble , soundstaging , fast attack and decay and the reasonable bass quantity but of course doesn’t have the slam and impact I feel the 109 pro is much better in those performances. But of course HD650 has that better warm, lush midrange and amazing vocal detail plus natural timbre that is hard to beat .

  • Really surprised about the Neumann NDH30 comment. I just tested it and I'd describe it as an HD600 upgrade with pretty good bass and good soundstage on top. Great tonality and technicals fitting the price. Maybe I need to directly compare to the HD600-series.

Mk2 sounds flat as a piece of paper. It isnt boring though, its just doing what it is supposed to do.

    • @@anotherjustyy well both are amazing. If you want better bass and higher detail go with the mk2. But I prefer wider soundstage because the mk2 can be a bit narrow. Mk1 for gaming for sure. Ifi's has two modes and one is quite strong because it's designed for IEMs. This just may change your life here if you haven't considered or tried one.

    • @@SileDevil I don't hear it that way. I think people who come from other dongles or DACs are perhaps hearing the lack of distortion in the Q5K. Or maybe not volume matching? Does it sound thinner than my desktop amps ?Yes. But compared to other similar portables, I don't hear much difference. Even when I compared it to something way more expensive like my ifi Gryphon it didn't lack weight in the music. As long as it has enough power for whatever you are running (Most IEMs) it is a great little powerhouse. And the only way to get the equivalent included EQ features is something like the RME ADI-2 series.

  • Oracle mk2 or invest some more and get the monarch mk2?

    @carlitosway6922@carlitosway6922 Жыл бұрын
    • Well, in many cases, the reference product is not the "best" in turns of its tonality (i.e. 64audio Tia Forte vs. U12T or even U6T) Monarch MK2's tonality is good(correct) but I wouldn't say it's worth the extra vs. Oracle. It's more resolving for sure, but it's not necessarily a good thing if you want to listen for a long session. Plus, Monarch MK2 is LARGE - keep that in mind if you want to purchase it without trying it in person at first. I think Oracle is BETTER if you want to own a pair and use it for long-listening sessions. To me, Monarch MKII is like an addition to my collection. I randomly pick it up and listen to a few songs until my ear feels the pain 😂

Or would you only want to listen to the Susvara and wouldn't want to listen to the Verite at all?

    @JosefBalabanovsky@JosefBalabanovsky Жыл бұрын

  • Yes, please no one buy the DT1990’s…let me have my favorite headphones of all time at $549 and the rest of you kids can overhype the $799 109Pro and $999 Pro Primals. For transparency, I do own the 109 Primals, but literally only because Resolve here said they had the same “warm-bright” sound signature as the Beyers and that they had more openess and soundstage compared to similar HP in its pricepoint. So I basically got these as a close backup to my beloved 1990s. I was even considering a second pair of 1990’s at one time, but then the 109 Primals came out and I had to try them out. I’m still burning the 109s in, and out of the box, I was a little underwhelmed but understandably, I expected that because I knew they would not be the 1990’s as far as resolution, airyness, and articulation. To me they remind me of the Philips Fidelio X1s tuning which have amazing treble extension and width with a good bass rumble and warm lush sound (imagine a headphone tuning that sounds like its hooked up to a tube amp, but stock -warm, smooth, but open and sparkly). For me, the Meze 109s sit somewhere in between the brighter DT1990s and the tubey sounding Fidelio X1s. Except, to my ears, the DT1990s share the best of all these characteristcs (still not as wide as the X1s, but I still consider them a wide headphone). Now I’m looking at the ZMF Atrium or Verite open. The only thing holding me back is I want to upgrade my piano to an acoustic baby grand or upright (about $20k+) as my piano right now is about $2.5K and as a general rule, I try to keep my headphones under the cost of my current piano, just arbitrarily. Cause I mean, you can do a lot of other things in life for $3 thousand dollars than just sit around and listen to recordings. Then again, who knows how long these ZMF models will be around. It’s a constant weighing of the scales. And again what if, I actually am let down by more expensive headphones than the DT1990’s? I might just be happy and content with my Beyers and invest it in a better tube amp for it and still have money for a spare DT1990…all interesting comparisons. As always, I enjoyed the video!
