Well here it is! The super long video that is my cat adoption. This is by far the longest video I have made for KZhead so I hope you watch it! This video is about the emotional cat adoption which was Raven! She does funny cat things in this video, as well as cute kitten things, AND we go through some hard moments and sad moments.
My kitten Raven is the best thing to happen to me since Christopher, so I am so happy to share her with you.
I work at an animal shelter and black cats are the hardest to get adopted. Thank you for adopting this sweet girl, you're doing amazing! Once you get everything acclimated (you and her) it will be smooth sailing 🧡

I have a handsome black cat, and he is the sweetest! I will never understand why people think black cats are "evil" or "boring" to look at, yet they love white cats more, and they are the most boring cats I seen, and also, hard to clean. Black cats for the win.

She is a cutie. The mood swings might be because she is still uncomfortable after the surgery. Don´t stress and just give her some time, after all she seems to be adapting quite well. Just keep an eye on the Christmas tree, saw a video the other day about how dangerous the pine needles can be to animals. they are very tough and can perforate their organs if eaten. Regarding the rest of the plants, I think Raven is a bigger dangerous for them, than the other way around 😸, but you can always ask the vet if there is any plants you should be more mindful of. I just have to say, if you’re disliking this video, just unsub rn. Plant videos i get, but adopting a pet that has the highest euthanization rate out of humane society animals, and giving it a home, smh this channel isnt for you if you dislike that kind of content.

🖤 Have you considered getting her some kitty grass? You grow it and it dies quickly, but it's cheap and you can just keep growing it. My kitty loved it so much she stopped messing with all my other plants! 🖤 Raven is a great name! And her little missing toe is actually really cute 🖤

Animal professional here... when you were talking about how cats need wet food because they don’t drink a lot of water and they need to stay hydrated I was like YAAAASSS GIRL. PREACH! So many people don’t understand that and just feed their cat dry food. Kudos to you! 😄
I worked at s shelter for years with cats and I wanted to cry because I know how much it means to those kitties to get a home and I am so happy for her, shes beautiful, congrats
As someone who had many different cats all her life, you'll know when Raven truly loves you when at 2am she drops an injured or dead animal on your face. The only cat I ever had that was like a dog was a Maine Coon mix. He played fetch, waited for you to come home at the door, followed you around the house and came running / meowing when he heard the food noises. Also, if you didn't see it online, cats spend half their awake hours cleaning themselves for a variety of reasons but sometimes they're just taking a relaxing tongue bath :)
Totally I have two maincoon mixes brother and sister. The male is just like a dog. Was just having this thought tonight. And he is HUGE. His little sister is only 12 pounds at 1 1/2 years ad he is 17 pounds now last time I weighed him which was a couple months ago. He just keeps growing. And for sure on the dead animal sharing. UGH.
Raven is a beautiful sweet black cat. Black cats actually bring good luck. But you don’t know that unless you have one.💜

hey girl! good for you for adopting a kitty who needs a loving home! hopefully taking care of her will ease some of your loneliness and anxiety. my kitties are definitely my companions. just a tip about her nibbling on your plants: buy some cat grass at the pet store. around the winter time many pet stores have seeds that you can plant in a small pot! the grass will grow in 4 days (maybe faster with a grow light). if you give your cat another available option then she will stop caring about your plants. I would be careful about spraying your new kitty because you never know what her previous owners have done to her and could bring about some trauma or fear. Especially because she is so new to your home! build the trust with your kitty before punishing her! you have such a great heart and only want what is best for her! she is thanking you with her loving personality! I have never brought a kitty home who adjusted as fast & well as Raven!

I definitely relate on feeling bad when you have to give her medicine! My 20 year old cat has high blood pressure and kidney disease now and I have to give him three medications plus subcutaneous fluids every day and I feel so bad! I wish you could explain to them why you have to do these things. 😫 Anyway I can tell you’ve done your research, my only tip is to try not to worry too much about her personality as she’s still settling in! She’s a sweetheart!

aww, she's adorable :) we adopted a one year old black cat 10 months ago and it feels like only now he's becoming more like himself. there have been sooo many mood swings and behaviour changes for these months... so please don't worry about your cat changing. you're just adjusting to each other now. it takes time, it'll come :)

Raven is beautiful! You are such a good cat mom. Some things I like to do with my cats: cats love to be brushed. I daily ask Smokey, "Do you want a brush job?" and he goes to the spot where I brush him. I also ask, "Do you want a treat?" and he goes to the spot where I give him treats. You can also teach them to sit for the treat. It's a good bonding and interaction time. One of my cats loved to play fetch. They are all different. Enjoy!

So happy to see Raven has a loving home❤️ if you find you are still having issues with the litter box, amazon sells “cat attract” which looks like catnip that you sprinkle in the litter and it attracts them to it. Also I’ve read cats like about 2 inches of litter in their boxes, so id double check on that just Incase! Hope to see lots more of Raven 🐱

GOD BLESS YOU for adopting Raven :) What a sweet girl she is 🥰 If I may offer some advice that has worked for me and my cats? I also bought a tall litter box like yours but I had to get the standard litter box that’s only six or 8 inches tall because my cat did not like going in the covered deep litter box that I bought. As soon as I put down the new litter box he went directly to it and started using it. I hope this helps because I really want it to work out with Raven being there with you❤

PLEASE unplug your phone chargers or any other chargers not in use! They’re especially appealing to cats and will kill your baby if it chews into it, or licks or bites the end. I have an 8 month old kitten and a 7 month old puppy and my morning routine is unplugging EVERYTHING they might bite into while left unattended. ❤️

HI! first of all, I love the name you choose it totally fits! about the plant problem, you should look up plants that are toxic to cats and put them somewhere she can't reach. I have plants and I'm planning to get a cat so I got one of those shelf things that stick to from the wall and I'm gonna buy some kitty plants!

OMG I have a black cat, his name is Halloween he’s five years old he’s going to be six this year. Congratulations, black cats are the best, I also have an orange tabby buff cat named pumpkin.😭😻
I have 7 kitties and two dogs. Each is their own little sweet being. Cats clean them selves. Not always because they do not want to be touched. They just do it. Mine clean me too. So hard to know what she has been through in her first life. We adopted an 11 year old kitty from the shelter. No one wanted such an old kitty. We are old. She is now 19 and doing just fine. She does not like to be held on my lap but she does like bushing and some petting on her terms. HA we were blessed with a black cat on Halloween Some one dumped her off here. It has been several years now. She is all black with a white heart patch on her chest. So talking about Raven rolling off the tongue. I think you should have called her Zamioculcas . HA Now that is a mouthful. Bless you for getting a black little one. They usually are the last to find homes from the shelter.

I have three cats and one of them heard the cats meowing from the first flip of you in the shelter meeting raven, came over and tried to grab my phone with her paws and skipped half the video 😂 Edited to add: a spray bottle full of water will be your best friend for teaching her to leave the plants alone. She won't like the water and the plants will enjoy the misting so it's a win win
I was going to make this recommendation. Cats respond very well to this, they associate the mild discomfort of getting wet with chewing on the plant and many (although not all, of course) will stop doing it. I find positive reinforcement of behaviors I want to continue combined with this kind of negative reinforcement work really well together. You might also want to get some catnip spray to encourage Raven to claw on her tree and other things rather than your hamper or whatever. What a lucky kitty she is to have found a great home!

That litter box is too high for her, and litter boxes shouldn't be covered. Cats like seeing their open space when they go potty. Learned that from Jackson Galaxy.

It's better to feed your house cat mostly wet food than just dry food. Wet food will limit the chances of kidney problems, heart disease and obesity. When cats eat dry food, they'll drink a lot of water which will contribute to a house cat becoming overweight. Cats that eat wet food get their liquid intake from the wet food thus not needing to drink water. It is a similar concept with desert cats not needing to drink water due to they get their liquid intake need from their prey they eat. Cat's pick their people and she saw you both and said "Yep this is my family" Cats are like people every day is different and thats part of the adventure. I adopted a teen kitten that was formerly feral and I always say she wasn't loved enough when she was little. The shelter volunteer at the kitten empty the shelter event I went to didn't wanna take her out of the cage for me to see her. I was like.... Um.. ok? When she walked off I went over to her cage and said "Little woman whats up?" Now she was lone in this cage in the far back but walked over to me and gave me her small life story in about 2 minutes. I took her out of the cage myself and knew she wasn't going to be a little kids kind of kitten she was not a cuddle muffin and needed a lot of work. But she put her paw on me ad said "Woman get me outta here" I adopted her the following day and named her "MIA" she's all black with a white beauty mark by her mouth with this skinny little body and giantpolydactyl feet. She basically is a Night Fury and walks like a Iguana lol. I named her MIA short for "Mittens In Action" lol. You and your hubby to be just adopted a little dragon and it takes time to adjust from shelter life and surgery and getting used to new surroundings and loo she is already sleeping and grooming next to you and finding hide away spots and setting up her kitty lair. Being a new cat mom is a fun thing to learn. First look at your place and figure out her jumping points on to things. Move all toxic plants to a area she has no access to and put your cactus completely away from here on a high shelf on a wall where she cannot smell them, knock them over of have one fall on her and have any sort of injury from the pricklies. Get her a cat tree thats right for the size of cat she is and give her good look out points to a window. Play is hugely important like a hour a day. I adopted a kitten everyone said was not social and my whole family gave me a hard time about her because she wasn't uber friendly at first. Mia fetches, comes when you whistle, is completely comical, loves watching the bird bath, is really vocal, meets you at the door and is a total love bug. Oh! and cats always defend their belly it's a instinct thing because its a weak point so its normal they will buck their feet. :) I wish you all the happiness in your new fur-baby. :)
