  • Thomas I'm almost as old as you and I felt the pull. II was a professional soldier for over 13 years and these impulses are programmed into us as you know. But now I am wise enough to know better. At this point of my life I will not fight until they come into my own backyard, as you said my family needs me more. If I followed that little bit of advice (from a former Marine) I never would have joined the military in 1988 but I was young and thought I knew better. I'm still here thanks to the man above and good men that were around me, but now I know better. Excellent advice, thank you for speaking out and sharing your wisdom for those that otherwise wouldn't know better. Slava Ukraine! 🇺🇦

  • Thomas it is good to see you giving sound, I would say fatherly, advice to younger people that may want to volunteer to fight in Ukraine. I agree with you more or less, especially if it is a person with no military experience. The Russians have announced that any foreign fighters that are caught will not enjoy prisoner of war status. Basically saying that it could mean death. On the other hand, you were a legionnaire, isn’t that similar? I also remember Linder who came to Croatia as a volunteer. His experience was very valuable. If I was to give advice to someone I would say stay home. But each man makes his own decision. I also read that the French Foreign Legion allowed Ukrainian members to go home with their full equipment. The article wasn’t specific. I don’t believe they let them take their weapons. Perhaps you can do a video regarding the rules of the Legion if your country goes to war.

We're very close. I told them that I considered to go. They said they couldn't stop me, but would not support it either. So at this point I will not go. This is mostly because there are very little information about where you will be stationed and what tasks you're going to get, how long time you have to stay, what people there will be in your unit and their experience. Lastly, if this war escalate, I might be of use in my home country (which is neighboring Russia). I really don't know what to do.
