The song that put me on J. Cole one of the best songs I ever stumbled across way back in 09
Same bro!
Fax yo, still have all the gems on my old PS3
Yeah.....I knew he was a keeper after this...lol
This was exactly me as well in 09. I was convinced right away he was going to be one of the greatest ever. To spit bars hard added with conscious lyrics was a new level. I was laughed at and ridiculed but look who’s laughing now. #coleworld no blanket
@@TristG3105 facts I remember saying he was my favorite and was going to be great and was the best and people laughed at that up until born sinner then they banned wagon 😂
Came to watch this again after release of J Hope -On The Street feat J. Cole, the opening of the mv was so familiar & i was right! such a symbolic parallel. J. Cole really did become Simba, he started in the alley n in the J Hope video he’s spittin on the rooftop 🔥
Bruh i thought about the same thing for real only true jcole fans know
@@jannicholocid8762 also if u saw the teaser for On The Street mv when they surprise revealed Cole you see Jhope walk up to him on the roof and then J. Cole nudges him & tells him to look into the distance, like Mufasa & Simba on Pride rock. Like it’s implying Cole has even surpassed Simba at this point, he’s the ultimate king Mufasa. love how they’re paying so much homage & honor to the Goat
Wow u right, start at 1:00 is the beginning of the jhope video
real

Man J. Cole's story is so symbolic. Young Simba is young J. Cole trying to make it in the rap game. Now he is Lion King, like he alluded to on the song title Lion King on Ice. What is even more symbolic is him growing his hair out which seems like a mane, compared to when he was simba with a short trim. Man this guy's progression in music is a living story, like this is some fairy tale type shit. From camping outside arguably the best rapper of all time's studio (Jay z) to finally getting signed to his idol. Like even the names of everybody of work is super intentional, the names of the album alone shows he's progression even before you listen to the music. Man I'm just going off because I truly believe J. Cole is a blessing on earth; like he is truly a prophet and deserves his flowers now. It's really just a Cole World and we're living it
He is like Mufasa now he is wise on his craft
This comment is admirable!!! Lol
Well said 💪🏾
Didn't think about it this way, that's smart
My boi preaching 🙏
Cole dropping all these classics like he dropped LilPump's career.

You could see the hunger in the eyes of J.cole..he deserves all the success and fame he is getting.
This was one of the songs I listened when I was still in HS. Everybody just counted me out, telling I can't go to college coz I was dumb and supposed to just be a bum my entire life. Yet here I am, a college professor teaching philosophy basically inspired by Cole's lyrics and perspectives in life! So, thank you J. Cole! Without your songs, I wouldn't even think of a future for myself. Much love from the Philippines! 🙏✊
Good shit man
Damn bro 👏
Salute king 👑

"I can't wait to be the king, young Simba" Man really is the king now lol
U can jus hear the pure grit in his voice, he wanted it bad, this why he a legend in the game

This song and his verse on “a star was born” is what made me a j cole fan
You and me both.
Never heard any of the older songs. I started to listen to J. Cole when KOD released. I didn’t even care to see what it’s like, an instinct told me to purchase that album and I started listening to cole. I feel like I’m born to be a part of the piece. Cole the whole damn ship.
2014 Forest Hills Drive and haven’t looked back, fav artist without a doubt
J cole got that Legendary flow one of the realest to do it!
Wow, gives me goosebumps…this is why JHope from BTS shot his video for “On the Street” here. Everything is about JCole, they fulfilling their dreams🥲
It’s a perfect reference as well - Simba for JCole to On the Street there’s a poetic balance that I’m struggling to articulate
Amazing how he prophesized his whole career. Young Simba done became a king.
Im glad I’m old enough to actually understand and appreciate J Cole
Seeing Cole battle through all these difference eras of rap and stay true the entire time and stick to his art form has been incredible man. I’ve been here since 2009 bruh, we knew he was the one! The savior! He survived all the adversity and after a while everyone finally realized how incredible he truly is. Even Anthony Fantano finally caved in 😂😂
So this is the same street Hobi did his last video! WOW! What a homage to a great artist!
YOUNG SIMBA MAN THANK YOU, FOR BELIEVING IN YOUR DREAMS AND ALWAYS KEEPING IT REAL
These aren't hits. These are CLASSICS.
Mixtape Cole was unmatched 🔥🔥🔥

Can't believe J-Hope got to collaborate with J.Cole, his idol, AND record their collaboration in this same street
"And i can't wait to be the king, young Simba" he said it and made it happen for real
I'm here after jhope of BTS did a collab with jcole. I couldn't believe he shot 'On the Street' in the same street. He really respects his idol so much, so thankful to jcole for inspiring our hobi..I'm proud of him so much today💜🔥
Man I remember following Cole from the beginning!!!! I watched this video a million times in Iraq back in ‘11
J hope and J Cole literally shot their new MV in the same location !
Watching the ‘on the street’ MV with Jhope and then came to watch this again. The parallels are fire.
Broooo I used to listen to this everyday in highschool. Completely forgot about this gem now that I’m 28
This is the first Cole track I memorized. Maaaaaan, the nostalgia is real!

Yes for SURE
Since the release of On the Street with J-Hope and J. Cole, I've been checking out J. Cole's music!
He went from Simba to Mufasa.🦁👑👑👑
- Worthy of all his roses - 💯

Met J many times. Always pure and humble. One of the best lyricists of these days.
Clean cut Cole used too have me pumped up too grind you could hear the hunger in his flows

His older songs were brutal !!!
What if he's reposting The Come Up tracks and other tracks so we can see the evolution to The Fall Off
He might be predicting the future
OOH SHIIIIII YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT I HOPE YOU ARE
He just reposted the ones that were deleted and because it's FHD's birthday
