I have been to this regions of pastoralists, disarming them won't do shit, they usually surrender the obsolete spoilt weapons inorder to restock with new firearms.

They tried to disharm them, well to cut the long story short the security personnel ended up running. That's because what you see in this documentary are not the real bandits, these are their kids showing off for the cameras. The real bandits are somewhere taking cover n they don't ask questions before shooting you dead from far away.Real sharp shooters they don't waste even a single bullet without hitting the target.
It's sad this is happening in Kenya in the 21st century. Very sad!

I feel privileged to have visited this area! Seeing kids carry AK-47 was a thing out of the movies, as I got transported to the airport I met a kid around the age of 10 armed with an AK 45. I wanted to take a picture with him but my driver asked me to approach him with caution as he might think I want to withdraw the gym from him, so the driver, who's from his tribe kindly told him what I wanted but he seemed scared, being scared and armed with an AK spells danger so we drove off! I'll never forget that place

A great coverage Seth! The disarmament process should also go beyond our boundaries. The biggest worry comes when the surrounding enemies discover that we are disarmed. They exploit that weakness and raid our communities. How much commitment do the other stakeholders offer?

To help solve the Cattle rustling problem, the government should carry out research and identify the needs of the involved communities. If its possible to address the problem from that point then a solution could be easy. The community needs an alternative to cattle rustling as an economic activity. Be introduced into modern economic development solutions that could see the young people being self reliant, and improving the livelihood of the common people by establishing educational opportunities, health problems and business opportunities. This should be extended to the neighborhood to ensure that a new positive lifestyle is adapted. This could bring cultural pride and cohesion among the pastoral communities and a lasting solution to their problems.
Something must be done to end this madness.
The useless people that are being elected have no clue how to run a country-why do you think afrika is the least developed and poorest continent-too much useless people in government.

For Such a vast open area with nearly impossible ways of getting each end, the following may be the best possible solution: 1. Station a a patrol Police Helicopter in a Central Point where all the communities with GSU, KPS or APs can easily call to inform the Air Patrol Unit. 2. Air Patrol Unit staff should be changed 4 or 6 months to enable them experience real on- ground hands-on touch. 3. The other Officers should also be changed once in a while to limit them getting complicent . 4. The IGP and Minister of Interior should visit these places twice a year. 5. These visits should include flying round all the terroteries and finally ending up in the Air Unit centre,. And more importantly, should coincide with the occasion of the replacement of the Old guard with the new guard - an occasion or function that will clearly send a message to the Rustlers or whoever that they need to re weigh their activities before their next move. 6. They feeling of active presence of such a network, will always be considered before anybody plans any action of attack in the communities. Thanks.
