Putin's Russia has been producing endless propaganda since the start of the war in Ukraine. We've already reacted to terrible Russian propaganda music and Z concerts, and now we have something completely new - RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA DRIP! Moscow Fashion Week took place in Russia recently, and it had a lot of Z cringe in it - including 'patriotic' fashion shows and even more 'patriotic' outfits. Moreover, in this video I'd like to tell you about how Russian propaganda also exists in fashion, with the appearance of such brands as PUTIN TEAM and other new Z brands in Russia that are trying to bring back the style of USSR's Joseph Stalin. So, what is Russian Z drip like? Does Russia have a chance against major Western brands? And why is everything that the Russian propaganda touches so terrible? Let's talk about it. subscribe if ur new thx xoxo

    • You mean to the Western eye, not just the American eye. It’s sad tho because only three years ago before the war Russia was pretty forward with fashion, and I’m not even exaggerating, I was paying attention then. What happens is what Roman explains in this video, the designers (the real talented ones) left. It’s like in Nazi Germany in the 40s, all the real philosophers, writers and artists left. Only the untalented suck ups and Hugo Boss stayed.

      @selmahare@selmahare2 ай бұрын
    • @@selmahare yes it is like the late 1930s. Hitler said germanic people were being enslaved in nearby countries so he staged a false flag against poland by attacking a radio station. Russia has done the same today claiming they are reuniting ethnic russians. At the time germany was the leading country of science, fashion, and health in the world. It all became twisted as their laws and government changed. People have a hard time seeing how it can happen again in any country if the people allow it. Nice channel by the way, I to have reincarnation memories I hold onto from childhood. I even have a birthmark on my head to signify the ending of my last life. But to speak from a logical perspective. There are kids all across the world with stories of knowing families, people, places, lovers, without ever visiting these places or people before. Most of these memories are found from outspoken children during the early stages of life before age seven. After age seven it seems we lose those memories forming our new lives and we forget. Atleast that is the common pattern from such families about such stories.

    @sateentuoksu@sateentuoksu2 ай бұрын
    • I think either way works. cf. "Dream Team" which as far as I know is "correct" English. In English a person's name (as well as other nouns [not sure if it's in any way limited, off the top of my head] can be used as a prenominal modifier: e.g., "Conan Hair" (a crazy pompadour style, of which Conan O'Brien's hair is the prototypical defining example) or "Bed Head" (the hair style that one wakes up with). But yeah, I guess this gets into the idea of *collocation* : e.g., even though neither "Conan Team" nor "Team Dream" is ungrammatical really, nonetheless they sound odd because "Dream Team" and "Team Conan" are statistically more common. A person learning English has no choice but to memorize these kinds of collocations (of which there are many, of which those two mentioned above were examples), because as far as I know there is no way to derive them from general principles. E.g., "strong coffee" vs "powerful coffee" (the former is more common).

    • @@robertjenkins6132 Former English teacher here: you are right about both working, BUT to be grammatically correct it needs an article in front of it: “The Putin Team” is fine, “Putin Team” is incorrect. By the same logic we say “Lake Michigan” or “Lake Baikal” but “The Mediterranean Sea” and “The Great Salt Lake” - when the modifier/adjective comes before the noun, it must be preceded by the article “the”. Say the sentence “I saw Great Salt Lake” in your head - it’s hard to hear that without a Russian accent 😅 It reminds me of Melania Trump’s grammatically incorrect “Be Best” campaign! She was also missing the article “the”. And it makes sense - almost none of the Slavic languages have articles, so Slavic language speakers often leave them out or use them incorrectly.

Lighting your cigarette from a candle will kill a sailor. If a black cat crosses the street, you have to spit three times or bad luck will come for you. • This is interesting. I live in Sweden (came to Scandinavia as a child), but I have never encountered these superstitions. Perhaps because Swedes nowadays don't seem to be superstitious anymore. I have only once encountered someone spitting three times and walking away after seeing my own black cat, and that bloke was a Jehova's Witness who didn't want to talk to me anymore after he saw my cat (as a reward of gratitude, I gave my cat egg yolk and tuna). I guess, black cats bring good luck, indeed. In my original homeland Tatarstan, we have superstitions like that Shaytan will cut off your legs if you swing them while eating, that your mother will die if you click your tongue, that someone in your household will die if you carry a spade on your shoulder, that liars are doomed to lick a hot frying pan in the next world (probably in Jahannam/hell), and my own personal favourite Tatar superstition, that you'll pee yourself if you play with fire. Some of these superstitions are related to our religion Islam, some others of them to Tengriism (our version of Paganism), and some are... well, just there. Most of these superstitions have been used towards children, for upbringing purposes. Nowadays, we Tatars aren't that superstitious anymore (even though my grandfather had a weird sister who was all into that stuff).

It's more like a cultural heritage than an actual belief. Among russians (and believe me, I have experienced both russia, the russian colonialism of Tatarstan and the russian diaspora abroad), I've noticed that superstitions are taken very seriously. They get truly irate if you, for example, whistle indoors (because then you'll run out of money, or something similar). So if you accidentally encounter the Z kind of a russian somewhere indoors (I hope it will never happen), you can always start to actively whistle and see his/her reaction. 😁

  • That was one of the first things I noticed about Russia the two (and only) times I was there: The celebrity class (and immediately adjacent/overlapping mafia) has far less than 0 (zero) idea of the value of money! They will ask for 100 times the market price of an item without batting an eye, because that is "what it costs" in their estimation. The prices for fashionable products have no relation to the price of bread or petrol or even houses. The question of what planet they think they inhabit is the first thing that comes to mind. The second is why they are surprised that no masses of people want to move there and live with them.
