Hey guys, it looks like this is the max of what my PC can take in terms of recording, as a result there are a few visual bugs during the video. Sorry about that!
I'm amazed u had more then 10 fps tbh so some visual bugs ain't too bad. XD
dont worry about that, this was glorious!!
Your PC was a champ for not crashing during the whole slugfest.
This is entirely valid. You have nothing to be sorry for.
You did so well with this mod. A few visual bugs is nothing compared to how awesome it is to see the absolute SWARM of Zerg this mod has.
Hey Jim, it's me Stukov. Remember that time you deinfested me? Well im infested again. Jim: If I had a nickel for everytime someone I uninfested became reinfested I would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
When did Jim deinfest Stukov?

@Czaszkor There was a secret mission only released on the Nintendo 64 version of Starcraft where you could free Stukov from his zerg infestation. I believe it is considered semi-canon
Grant's ability to actually tell what was happening on the battlefield is nothing short of miraculous
You can't?

It's pretty easy to tell if you play coop occasionally

This mod really is: -You have god-tier units -The enemy has god-tier units and base that blankets the map Round one: FIGHT!
You also have infinite resources nodes in this mod. You don't have to worry about mining out.
Mengsk: "I will not be stopped. Not by you or your allies or your framerate! I will rule this sector or see it nuked to ashses around me."
The battle is so epic that the video did not survive on 10:40
so it wasnt my pc going nuts thank god...
At 13:04 too
The Gorgon targeted the video quality and it died immediately
17:49 That "empty Medivac" actually dropped a Thor which immediately got mind controlled. 😂
What I like on this mission is the idea of Kerrigan telepathically talking to everyone, while Mengsk is just hanging out of the window with megaphone in hand, shouting out his lungs so she can hear him on the opposite end of planet xD
- How many nukes we want in this mission? - Yes Mengks is living up to his promise
Fire missiles. Fire them all. Fire everything!
looking back on the mod, i feel like theres a LOT to say about it. You can definitely tell the developers of the mod had a lot of fun making this campaign, the sheer amount of imaginative gameplay spaces and creative mechanics implemented into both your faction AND the enemy factions makes it feel in gameplay completely different from vanilla heart of the swarm, and seeing the sc2 engine and modding tools be pushed to its limit in this way makes me excited for the future of sc2 modding with all that said, i think the mod REALLY suffers from not knowing when to hold back on the craziness. as tempting as it is to go all out on making literally everything as much of a spectacle as possible, going too far in this aspect can make the game an absolute assault on the senses, and make the experience an eyesore. I’m not entirely sure how grant feels about it, but for me as soon as there were any amount of large fortifications of enemies or armies, the ability for me to parse what was happening, nevermind what was actually important to pay attention to, making the campaign a visually confusing mess. and lets not even mention the crazy framerate issues this mod has - if grant’s pc is chugging along with all the particles and stuff going on, then i could only image how brutally unplayable this mod will be on lower end systems. overall while there are some flaws in the mod, i did overall enjoy this series a lot
There has to be an upper limit to the amount of _stuff_ that happens onscreen at any given point, and that upper limit has to be lower than the player's upper limit to how much they can process. And yeah, pretty much ever since reaching Korhal, the game has exceeded my upper limit. Especially the Dehaka mission.
Yep, even with it's problems, the fact that only A Few Things break the SC 2 engine and the game is playable is almost a miracle. The coding skills of the modder are admirable. Nontheless, there's deffinetly a point of " the fact that you could do something doesnt means that you should do it " as the level of enemies, agression and visual cluster is so much that in the end Grant had to rely of siege units and Kerrigan to have a somewhat controllable army. The recently played Protoss chinesse mod had a limit to its crazyness (even tho the latte game flying units were game winning) that made it a perfect experience
I did enjoy watching this, but I concur with you guys, it was a bit much. I'm having a hard time getting this written down, but it wasn't so much that I couldn't identify the units. It was that everything I see was so dangerous, that I don't know how to deal with it. Only for Grants units to just... not care, or be rebuilt instantly. That would be fine, but I like to problem-solve along with Grant, and I didn't get to do that here
reminder that SC2 is single threaded, so everything looks heavier than it actually is. Grant could play it on a pc 3 times stronger and it'd still lag exactly as much
Honestly, agreed on this whole assessment. An absolutely astounding accomplishment of modding, this is... but the absolute insanity of the spectacle of it all makes it incredibly difficult to parse what's happening, and will choke lesser systems to a grinding halt.
I can feel the recording software screaming.
I have a thing for big battles and sieges, especially with multiple allies and enemies. And this? This hits the spot. 0:53 Hey, Gorgons! Oh, sorry, I got distracted. What was that about the saw blades? 4:31 Lol, Mengsk did NOT appreciate the criticism. 15:31 It doesn't randomly fall down and kills you, it AIMS FOR YOU and kills you. 18:00 That's the thing, they did drop. The enemy took the Medivac, which dropped a Thor.
Mengsk having 10 Gorgons and 4 Odins its crazy. And Grant making it look easy its even crazier. Nice way to end this amazing series!
5:34 lol I love this mod. Ghost of the Fuhrer!
Grant showed Mengsk the strat, now he pays
I know it isn't going to be done here, but I would genuinely love to see if ONE SINGLE Wild Mutation Beast could solo this entire mission. I have a feeling it absolutely could, and not even like. A super optimized one. It would truely be funny to see one wiggly boy go Super Saiyan and destroy the last Stronghold of this mod
Kinda depends, there are absolutely insane things in the final bases, including dozens of siege tanks that shoot orbital lasers + 170 damage per shot (shoots fast) plus thors (that have the single target ability., the odin, and literally everything, probably it would be possible if the wild mutation could just out-heal everything. Still, would be fun to try it,
@@HipomosJ Maybe a wild mutation with half Queen for the regen and the other half splited with Hydra and something giving a lot of HP and Zergling to complete the holes. But i believe more in 2 or 3 wild mutations guys to do this challenge
You had mentioned wondering how you got Zagara under your control. Every side objective to let the different leader's forces come in you gain control of the leader directly when their pack/swarm arrive. You got Dehaka shortly after getting his tunnel cleared. I couldn't tell if you grabbed Stukov in the storm of zerg you had.
Nothing says Mengsk more than infinite nukes from endless royal military academy. Hundreds of tanks and other artillery systems and death rattling units. This is more of a red circle simulator than usual. Luckily for you, you didn't have to put units in the danger of the red circles with your long-range swarm host.
"I will turn this capital in radiated ruin if I have to, MORE warhead"
18:05 thor drop by ally, it did drop it Jim really went ham this round
I don't know if Grant was able to figure this out, but I'm pretty sure that the reason these missions feel really easy and then are suddenly very hard is because the AI has terrible simcity abilities. So, what happens is that it seems like they create huge traffic jams, but are constantly building from each building. When Grant clears out bases it sort of acts like a dam bursting. All the Thors and Goliaths and Siege Tanks now have somewhere to go, so now instead of incremental attack waves you have 300 supply of units crashing down upon you. You can sort of see this affect in action with Jim's base.
This whole mod has been like one giant drugride. And i loved every minute of it. Even tho in the latter parts there was basically no framerate because *everything* was exploding and there was so much stuff on the field. That said, there we some incredible ideas in here and all the custom models blew me away. Also, the idea of putting in the heros and basically completely port them from HotS (The other one!) with their models was a great idea, since those are basically the more fleshed out version of them. I couldnt always parse what was happening, but since its a Zerg invasion, it fit right in there for the fantasy and the feeling. All in all, great mod, i hope the developers do something similar for LotV and WoL if they haven't done already. Addendum: Also, Jim here is fucking incredible. He pushes forward, reinforces that back the amount of stuff he just produces is nothing short of miraculous. I think given enough time and enough help, you could play that whole game like a giant tug of war like the mission for Illidan back in Frozen Throne, half a MOBA with all of Jims forces.
gorgons slowly moving in and out of the screen around 18:35 have the same energy as animated gigachad emojis
youtube couldn't handle the epicness of the video at 13:05 10:40 16:03 18:30 and 20:11 Sad it happened but amazing video and loved the series. Cant wait to see what comes after this one
11:29 seeing all those Mutas getting smashed and vaporized into atoms is...oddly satisfying
The only good Jimmy, is this COMPETENT Jimmy! Congratulations, Jimmy!
Wow what a mission! Thank you for presenting it, so I didn't have to try and parse that myself ;) Now, if only we had a death counter... :P
This entire mod basically you roleplaying the USSR during WW2. I used the ravager artillery units with the Brood Saws and Carrier Swarm Hosts and Queens with Impalers and mass jump banes. I went for springtails. So, it was truly a USSR build. Pound them with artillery, swarm them with interceptors, kill them with mines (the Impalers), rain hell upon them from the skies (the Brood Saws) and also Allahu Akhbar (mass banelings). Oh yeah. Mass paratroopers too (drop pod Kerrigan). And the whole time I was playing this mission on Nightmare on this mod. I was blaring Sabaton into my headphones. DEATH IN THE SHAPE OF A PANZER BATTALION!
This final mission really gave us the feeling of sieging a city and it was great! The ennemy entrenched into their positions and every inch fought with blood. No wonders Kerrigan needed time to replenish her numbers after this bloodbath (feels lore accurate to me). Thanks for the fun over the top series! ^^
This series was awesome. This mission especially really felt like how insanely brutal a battle for Korhal would've been 'in-lore'. Yes the units are different and it's not realscale, but the chaos, the multiple fronts, the ai allies /actually/ being a boon and not something you have to babysit. Really impressive show and whilst visually hard to understand at times, I thought it added to the spectacle of the fight.
Yay, Swarm Hosts! Thank you, Grant! Also, I never realized Kerrigan had an Egg portrait; it's cool that it shows up in the cutscene. It's incredible how much of a difference good ai allies makes. 🐍
That was a delightful slideshow Grant, I absolutely loved your presentation, A+.
Awesome! I've been waiting all day for this :) I really enjoy these insane swarm nightmare Grant power fantasy videos
Its really nice to seeing Jim being so capable along with your other allies having a physical presence in the mission. Far more then usual. Absolutely incredible mission It's like your allies have the Nightmare AI
I will echo what grant said on the off chance that modmakers see it. I absolutely LOVE the prevalence of AI allies in mods, in this, in Enhanced swarm, in the Play with Ally mods... it's my favorite mechanic to see utilized. Especially in heart of the swarm, You collect such an S tier list of cool and interesting lieutenants for your war chamber, it's spectacular to see them (And Jim!) pulling their weight as fully autonomous allies. Especially when things get this hectic. Having an Ai work on map control and fortification frees you up to focus on smashing defenses and hot damn if that doesn't look fantastic. Hyped to play this mod!
I need more modded campaigns like this that make the finale chaotic, but fairly easy.
16:04 It's the sign of a crazy mod when the recording starts to break down from sheer insanity.
Honestly besides the unusual name convention, this is a legitimately interesting mod, having the strains you can select is great, the abilities are powerful, as is the enimy, and Despite the chaos of it, you didn't acutely loose ones! While the Heroes of the storm assets are out of place due to the art styles, their used well enough that it's no issue. It's a great mod still.
The naming thing is because it's a translation, but through Google translate. That's why so many names are terribly mashed.
I'm aware, I can look past that
19:42 "Giant stuff falling on your head all the time isn't present here" - Giant 'Blind as a Firebat' Grant Games, while a drop is ongoing on screen.
My small Wood-division brain can't parse out what's happening most of the time, but hot damn this is a cool mod, and a great final mission for the campaign. Great stuff!
05:00 Love how mengsk is on Wheatley mode (Missiles: all; Odin: now)
What a beautiful end to a chaotic and wonderful mod playthrough. Thanks for the fun videos, Biggest Grant.
Never thought i am gonna see lore accurate starcraft in game
Absolute amazing mod, this was such fun to watch. gg to you grant as well as the mod maker
This entire mod has been glorious chaos and I loved every second of it
This genuinely feels like an all out war with Mengsk fortifying everything while your AI allies push hard and deal with the flanks while you can be the sledgehammer, like Grant said, and just wreck havoc. What an amazing conclusion to an incredibly well done mod.
I love that even the video is done with this mod.
At 18:00, Jim DID actually drop with that medivac. It was a THOR drop. I dunno why he thought a single Thor drop would do anything, but it was really hype!
this level is: "our nukes will blot out the sun!" "then we'll burrow in the shade!"
I really hope the people making stormgate see this. because this is like almost perfect perfect final mission. so over the top, constant combat and pushing back and forth without it being overwhelming. also crazy that the mission pushed your PC so far to cause recording glitches.
This mod truly made Mengsk the Nuke obsessed individual that the co-op teaser barely attempted to showcase.
And it's what i imagine with the disclaimer for epilepsy at the start of a game 😅 love this video
NICE! I'm looking forwards to Wings of Eyeser and Legacy of Eyeser!!!!! Love this modder's works already!!!!!
imagine you waited long enough and then you see jim just building up a full army also just realize the modder basically made kerrigan's dream in the intro true because battlecruisers actually explode and the enemy has goofy small outposts
Yeah when I was playing through this I loved using the broodlords.
the final mission was epic jim was so competent if you look at the mini map at the end he basically controlled the entire map plus the amount of nukes in this mission was insane lore accurate when the confederacy nuked korhal to oblivion
That Odin sure had a couple nukes on a dead man switch
This got me laughing so much GGG: I can always trust Jim...
Man, the balance of thus war was so good, the intensity of fight. Both parties same OP that make it a fair fight.
"Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make," said Mengsk. *Kerrigan, Dehaka, Zagara, Stukov & Jim look at each other* 🔫😂🔫 "My boys are prepping to attack the Dominion," Jim exclaimed. "Your defenses need qork, Arcturus," Kerrigan taunted😂. Stukov, Zagara, and Dehaka : "Zerg rush. Zerg rush is good." Mengsk: "...."
jim in this is basically Fry from Futurama. The lovable idiot charging into danger for his princess and getting knocked out over and over.
the mix of decent resources and that safety net of allies definitely seems to have helped! Though perhaps the otherss would have felt a little better with the right comp too which I think could be an issue if you need to do "the good comp" for it to work properly.
Huh, some weird visual glitches on this episode. I like to think the game just had so much going on all at once it overwhelmed Grant's computer entirely lol
Love the chaos of the mod the video couldn't handle that amount of chaos
12:22 the sudden Chinese voice line surprised me. Is that actual line in Chinese version, or they put in the effort to add additional VC?! If the latter, this mod just went from 8/10 to 10/10.
thats the swarm host talking. in all that noise I didn't notice it, at first I thought it was some Jamaican dude talking. Warcraft Troll style xD.
Not playing this finale OMFG my PC would fry. But it's awesome to see full Dominion might in display. This and Enhanced Swarm are the best Mods I've ever played.
Im really glad you stuck with this one. Inspit of early level bs. I think this was the most interesting mod you've covered yet. Im gonna try and get my hands on it when i can, but im still haunted by the geese..
This was such an amazing campaign! It feels such a REFRESH to normal SC2, almost like what it should have been from the start! :D
What a cool campaign. I think there are a lot of ideas that other mods can take inspiration from but also some lessons that can be learned in keeping missions moderate and what mechanics are cool but can be annoying or frustrating (see endless drop pods on your head). Another great showcase though.
This campaign was a great joy to watch! But just looking at this ending slide show fries my pc XD
This was amazing!
What a cool mod. I don't think I would like playing it because i can barely tell what's happening, lol, and I suck. But it was a joy to watch Grant play it and was quite the spectacle.
@3:20 did that flamethrower unit just face tank 4 banes ... LOL
what will be the new modded playthrough? Love ya content grant!
The next custom campaign with the dude who adds his factions to different campaigns
Hopefully
I've been playing through the Contingency Contracts mod and been wondering how Grant would go about it, so I hope it's that even though it might work better for streams instead of videos. Dealing with Nightmare changes alongside Challenge Gauntlet changes with new and cool tools has been a blast for me.
@@sterlingderp1296I can definitely imagine grant just selecting all the difficulty contracts just for challenge xD
@@dacheese1026 Oh jeez I could totally see that happening ONCE cause I know he'd hate it lol
This mission gave me some real 'power of friendship' vibes. Loved it
Oh, if only there was a mod maker who would make other companies with a similar “endless life” effect. It would literally be a dream come true. So that there is no micro-control, you simply rebuild your base and, like in Direct Strike, your troops, under the control of AI, independently clear the map over time
Jim casually not loosing any health from 100nukes. But the Hyperion could gets spit on by a couple marines and explode
The sheer mass of blue on the minimap makes me think Jim may have blocked in his own troops and yet kept producing. Might have been contributing (a bit) to the lag at the end.
Thor drop with medivac from ai?!?! It's incredible!!! 17:55
Finally! We get Intro Cinematic Accurate Starcraft!
3:20 wtf was that dominion trooper that facetanked a bung of banes!
hey grant, you can get jim to arrive earlier by walking up to his area at the start of the mission, giving him more time to set up. there's a small chance he will need help for the first marine wave but after that he'll be complety fine. edit: regular hots I mean
The mod is so powerful that it tears at the fabric of reality multiple times in one video.
It's impressive how well this game still holds up. If ONLY the damn engine could keep up. I'm amazed anyone can play with 10 FPS. Even the recording software got fed up with it. ;) Also, funny: "At least this time's nothing's falling on my head all the time"... in a mission where you're constantly ... nuked. Just imagine what a Starcraft 3 COULD be.
What I love about this finale is that it feels exactly like it should. This is a full-scale war on Korhal. Unlike the original, there is fighting on multiple fronts at all times, constantly contesting pressure against the Dominion or against your allies. You're not at threat of mining out, or getting backlined constantly because the Swarm is protecting things even if you as the player aren't. And from a gameplay perspective, it takes you from being a glorified babysitter for Jim, to instead being the overwhelming might of the Swarm crashing against some dense defensive fortifications worthy of the Terran Dominion. Tons of royal guards, tons of expendable troopers, and a pure brawl from one side of the palace compound to the other. When scaled properly, it should feel like the real threat that the Swarm is, reminding us why they were the real big-bad of the original game, but not being such a cakewalk that your allies do all the work without you.
instead of one-shot you one-volleyed the door at the end, lol
there is so much blue on the map, holy crap Jim and other allies lol.
oh yeah this is much better for readibility, it is soem what chaotic but on a good way and not overwhelming
with all the visual bugs and fps drops, this feels exactly like a 2012 playthrough.
I really like how jim is on this mission Like, he faces alpha squadron, and it's a major threat that absolutely requires kerrigans help in the base game... depsite the fact jim fought alpha squadron last campagin..in a 1v1. On korhal. And won. Easily. But in this mod? Alpha squadron fights and dies to Jim's actual armada of stimmed up seigebreakers and jacksons revenges. It's not even close, exactly as it should be.
10:40 almost gave me a panic attack 🤣 Luckily, it wasn't on my end 😇
Jim did a thor drop, thats wild
Its unfortunate that KZhead didnt liked the video since it was going white screen on some parts with how much stuffs was going, but that was a nice ending to a good campaign.
18:00 it wasn't a full medivac to die, it was a Thor drop! You can see it flying it from 17:48 Sure, the Thor lasted 5 seconds or so but what do you expect in that carnage? 😂
The best mod so far. It was nearly perfect.
thanks grant !!
It was really fun to watch you have fun ❤ Sadly this mod wasn't for me... I was overwhelmed at nearly each and every moment. My concentration ability is really rubbish at the moment... But that makes it that more fun to watch you rocking this mod 😎 hopefully someone will soon be interested in my mod-idea.
Always a fun surprise when your allies are useful for once. Mod looks really fun, but requires too much APM for me.
20:00 Would you look at that sexy blue minimap. Jimbo, I'm so proud now you're a grown man.
What a grafics card killer mod :D
Nice
this mod is really putting the SC2 engine and Grant's PC through the wringer.
