I remember i was a military soldier at the age of 19 and spent an hour trying to explain my mother how to get the game to download on my ps3 over a pay phone in HQ so I can play it when I go for my leave the week after. Kudos to her she managed to do it eventually, god rest her soul . Edit : just wanna say how much I appreciate your nice replies and sorry I can’t get to all of your nice comments individually. Lol, that was the exact reason i never bought/played GTA 5, ever! I didn't like that 2013 Los Angeles atmosphere they went with, it just makes me think of stupid prank videos that was populare at the time! I always preferred The atmosphere in GTA 4!
I like Trevor the most only because his character is consistent between scenes and gameplay. Michael and Franklin are always hesitant to do anything in cutscenes, but then when you have control, immediately make them commit a bunch of murders. Trevor is always homicidal. Consistent.
CJ was like that too in sanandreas... Could make him commit massacres with a chainsaw then in cutscenes he acts different theres one mission Ceaser gives you a pistol for a mission and CJ acts surprised and says where did you get that? Like hes never seen a gun before
@@demonjmh In my game CJ had always carried silenced handguns, he even had one already when I activated the mission, so that cutscene was always particularly weird and funny to me lol
That’s how most protagonists in games are, you can just make them betray their morals and personalities for your own entertainment. Plus whatever you do outside of the missions/cutscenes isn’t really canon to the respective games.

I was 18 and a freshman in college when GTA V dropped originally. I preordered it and was itching to leave my class early to pick it up lol. I'm now 27, its so wild that this game has entered it's third generation of consoles. And even crazier that I've purchased it three times (360, One, and PS4) 😂

I was 18 and right out of highschool when this came out. I remember going to the midnight release at my local GameStop, not a huge crowd or anything but it's a good memory. As I'm typing this I just finished another playthrough of GTA. I think the last time I played through was 2017 then before in 2013.....got me feeling kinda sad, I guess it's the memories I have of waiting for multiplayer to launch. Then when it finally did playing with my old gaming buddies grinding missions and robbing the gas stations......I'll never be able to go back to that time, and I took some of it for granted.

I've got to say I'm pretty impressed. I'm playing it on the Xbox series X in the RT setting, and it looks so smooth sounds great, and it just feels way more polished. Things like reflections in Windows and stuff like that really stand out more. And I'm not talking about like the rear view mirror or side mirrors I mean just in the windows and such. Overall it feels like a much more polished product. The updates and stuff were great too. If you haven't started a fire yet in 60 FPS (performance RT) you should try it! Looks good.

The Ray tracing is basically completely negligible and extremely hard to notice in most cases. There’s no RT reflections whatsoever, only RT shadows which are not super noticeable in open world games like this.

Great analysis from the point of view a console player. Still a big letdown from a general perspective given the amount of promises (ray-tracing being basically a gimmicky shadow marginally better) and the fact that Rockstar have been reselling the same game over and over.

Personally I don’t think they’ve done enough to warrant another buy. I’m hoping that instead they’ve actually been putting their time and effort into a psvr2 port which will hopefully get announced soon. I’d buy it at full price again to play it in VR
i never played gta5. ever. but i decided to buy it for the ps5 since it was only $10. absolutely recommend. it was enjoyable and i loved the upgrade feel and look to such an older game. glad i was able to experience this on the new gen console, i totally agree that whoever hasnt played this game yet and has a ps5 should give it a go. (the price is worth it).

Remasters/remakes was a cool way to update and bring old games to new generations. Shockingly, the gaming industry ruined that as well 🤦🏽♂️
I played it on my Series S with the last gen version, mostly online but got the new version for ps5 as was on 8.75. Really annoying I vouldnt transfer my saves over no matter what I tried, also lost the Career Builder on online and couldn't retrieve it back - other than that really good experience for the price especially
The only thing I wanted from the upgrade was all the GTA online additional content to be added to story mode. I really don't think that's too difficult or too much to ask
Yuppers. They spent all this effort making new content, would have been nice to put it in single player or at least give us the option to add it in after main story if we want.

Me and my buddy stood in line for the midnight release when it first came out. We were in the first 5 in the line and got exclusive goodie bags with a t-shirt, bug inspector van keyring, bank vault kitchen timer, 500 dollar bill air freshener, stickers and a pen with blue light on it for the map that came in the game case. Buch of hidden secrets on it. Still have most of it in the rockstar brown bag it came in.

I played the PS4 version a few years after I had beat the single-player story. I found the story resonated with me more the second time around as well!
I really enjoyed GTA V, but it is definitely showing its age here. It looks good, but I can't wait to see how far Rockstar push the next game graphically

All the more reason for them not to make any crazy visual enhancements to GTA V.. They will save the insane graphics for GTA 6 - doing anything otherwise would be stupid. And Rockstar knows what they’re doing.
The problem rockstar doesn’t seem to understand is for people like me who have been playing since the game released 8+ years ago running around the same map is boring as all hell! I would honestly be happy with an update that didn’t add any new businesses or anything but took all of the burger joints, banks, and other buildings with interiors and opened them up so that we had more space to explore. It might be insane but I’d even be down for a Fortnite style nuke and completely rework the map🤷♂️

The jump is huge, especially in Online... The new car upgrades makes a massive difference in land speed. And then you play at 60fps, and yes it's not native 4k... But it does look really sharp. All of this could not work on the old gen machines. And tbh, the game was truly a PS4 era game. Just a degrade and early launch on PS3. That's how I see it, and love the upgrade. Feels like a brand new game

I was really hoping for something more akin to the graphics mods we have on PC, which just look to be far more photorealistic and graphically impressive. It's actually more than what PC has. It's actually got new textures and effects that aren't available on PC. They will likely do what R* usually does, and a short while after console release, the new features will also release on PC.
@@brennan2007 the pc version has better textures, lighting, and reflections through modding. The problem with releasing the exact same game 9 years later with some slight touch ups is you have to deal with modders who haven’t stopped working on it. It’s like Skyrim special edition, it never took off because the modded versions of the game were vastly superior to the new release despite an upgraded lighting engine and volumetric lighting and all that

Yesterday was the 9th anniversary of GTA 5 hitting the shelves 🎉 hard to believe this masterpiece will be 10 yrs old soon. GTA 5 was groundbreaking for it's time. It was our introduction to the PS4/Xbox One generation, and the era of massive open world gaming.
I actually just replayed the story on Xbox One back in September and finished it in December. Was my second time playing it since it originally released back in 2013 on the 360. Ended up getting a Series X late December and I hate that I played the XB1 version because I didn't think I'd be able to get a SX. If I hadn't already played the XB1 version so recently, I maybe would've gotten this next gen version.
I remember GTA V was my first ever pre order. I went to a midnight launch and lined up outside Grainger Games for nearly an hour. I didn't get back home till about 1 in the morning and was up until 6 playing it.
Same here, pre order and stood in line for about an hour or so. Everyone was walking out the door throwing the game in the air cheering. 😂😂😂 Good memory
Times were so much more simpler then I was same with black ops 1 and and mw2 in blockbusters it was awesome

This should had been a free upgrade. There’s nothing major that justify the $30 price tag they are asking.
While the lack of any new overhauls like the PS3 to PS4 jump had is disappointing, it does look real interesting. I did fall off of GTA 5 and it was mostly the online that kept me going, so I basically forgot the whole story. I’ll probably get it, plus for only 10 dollars, it doesn’t seem too bad.

I'm assuming they didn't fix the liquor physics. It always bugged me when someone would be drinking from a glass of whiskey during a cutscene, but the liquor stayed flat in the bottom of the glass.

Before you buy the upgrade here's a massive warning! When you upgrade to next gen you will not be able to play with anyone on the previous gen, it will send over your data to your new console buy all of your last gen data will be deleted, so if you have friends that do not have a next gen system do not buy the upgrade unless you never want to play with them again.

Single player was fine on PS4, but gta online struggled with frame rate dips. I’m sure all that is ironed out and gta online must play pretty seamless
My fav character is Franklin. He’s more relatable . I loved his rags to riches story , going from the hood of los santos to the rich area was dope to experience . I loved doing the Lester missions & taking advantage of the stock and getting all the main characters to billions

@@zetsurk I'm pretty sure that with gta 5 remastered being around along with the money they're making off people porting over to the remaster on both campaign and online, T2's stock/worries about the definitive trilogy would be an after thought considering the patches they've slapped onto the game after many good complaints toward it. Keep in mind, GTA Online has a bigger player base than the definitive trilogy afterall. Alot more money in their pockets on that alone.

As always great video Jake. I'll pass this version since I have this same game for 9 years. I don't get companies these days trying to milk games till the last drop. If they wanna update the graphics fine, that's cool, but don't ask more money to people that already own the exact same game. Not talking just about Rockstar, Sony and Activision (and others that I can't remember now) please stop doing this.

In 2013 i remember actually waiting outside at my local EB Games - By local i mean a 1.5 hour drive. I got there at 11pm, and waited for an hour in line, ran into some friends from high school in line aswell, which was kinda cool. Bought a copy and drove home. Didnt even get to play it cuz i got home close to 1am. I remember it like it was yesterday, cant believe its been so long since GTAV came out :(

I’ve been saying that! At least update the single player guns and vehicles with all the free online content they’ve made. They started it off that way there are a handful of cars and guns that were not in the single player at the 2013 launch but they haven’t updated it in years.

2013 was my sophomore yr of high school. I remember staying home from school to play the online for the first time just to find out it didn't work lol. I also remember that when it did finally work that you would lose your character and have to start all over

In 2013 I was deployed and my wife sent me GTA V while I was overseas. It really helped me to escape the stress of that tour.

What’s funny is how quick we get use to things. I’ve had my Ps5 since launch and only play Ps5 games or upgraded to. It’s impossible for me to play a game at 30fps anymore and I’ve gotten so use to the instant load speeds that when playing this enhanced version it feels like it takes forever to load up. Then I booted it up on my old ps4 pro and was shocked at how long I use to wait for this game to boot up. Man we get spoiled so easily 😊 but I’ve been enjoying the heck out of this a 60fps and the ray traced reflections really brings the gta world to life. At times it looks photorealistic until you sit in a car first person mode and look at your car doors 🤣 textures from 1998 called and they want them doors back
The game came out when I was 11, now i’m 19. I’ve probably got over 80 days plus on the game, and have had a lot of great times playing it with buddies over the years and even randoms, also I use to play it on the xbox 360 alone for the most part and then played it on ps4 for a long time. This will definitely be one of the most memorable game’s I’ve ever played!

Hey man I feel you, I was almost 13 when this game came out and now I’m 21. It’s so crazy to look at my character that started out on the Xbox 360, and than migrated over to the Xbox One, and than got migrated to the PS5.

Most companies either upgrade their games for free, or make substantial enough changes that warrants paying for it. Rockstar is really one of the only companies that does things like this

Oh chill out with that same old bullsh, you've become the broken record that GTA V is. Yeah we get it, it doesn't seem to go away but what do you expect from one of the biggest if not biggest games of all time to date. GTA 6 is coming and probably in the next couple of years and it'll be even more successful than V. So if you think V's longevity is frustrating, 6 is gonna drive you insane, I can almost guarantee it'll be around for much much longer. Especially if they're just gonna update it constantly with new maps and new content. It might even be the beginning of the end for new GTA's. GTA 6 is gonna blow gamers away.

This upgrade is super worth it, especially if you could get it at a discount. Of course, I wish it would’ve been free, I get why they charged though(just not full price, unless you never got GTA on the previous consoles). I have been playing literally since Day One and I can say for a fact, there is a huge difference between the Xbox 360 and the Series X. You’re not comparing it to the last Gen, where we have most of the same features as the Series X. So, all of the upgrades come with the comparison. I really like the UI of the menu, how they took from Red Dead Online’s menu and made it better. The graphics and frame rates I can get now are amazing. I’ve been a console player for most of my life for my AAA games, so I don’t care when people say, “It’s just a PC port on console.” because I never got to experience that in the first place. Other than the pretty upgrades and the cool, muzzle fire, there are mechanical upgrades. The driving is noticeably better as well as general movement. The shooting feels different for me (is most likely the added FPS, but it doesn’t make it any less sweeter) and the kills are so much more satisfying. Sure, like I said before, it should’ve been free, but I’m sure glad they made this. This is nothing like those imposter, ‘Definitive Editions’. I was nervous about starting a new character in online (it’s completely optional to do this, you can import your character) because of all the progress I had built through the years, but that too, was worth the risk. I’ve been having fun leveling up again and actually being involved in my businesses. I understand what Rockstar was trying to do now with RDO and their Roles, GTAO just does it a bit better. Not going to lie, this game can get a bit stale after nine years, but this reset and how they reset you is really refreshing.
The dualsense implementation is fantastic ! This is my first time returning to the online mode in about 5 years. I decided to see what the club was all about and was blown away by the haptic feedback. Think of the remote pulsing to the bass-line and slowly getting stronger as you near the stage. It really does add to the experience in a meaningful way and I can't wait for more people to experience it. It's near perfect implementation for the technology. I also noticed it while driving on the highway over the bumps in the road and hitting the yellow centre-lane poles. Great work done by the team to implement this feature in a more subtle fashion

Driving on the PS5 version feels so much better with the haptic feedback and 60fps than in the PS4 version on the PS5.
I personally prefer the more subtle approach. I’ve played cyberpunk and Call of Duty where the trigger pressure is cranked right up. It just gets tiring after extended play sessions. Rockstar has implemented in a way that adds but doesn’t detract which I like. As for The Music Locker, spend some time listening to Keinemusik to feel how well the vibrations are done. Other than Astrobot I’m not sure where it’s been done better
Haven’t played since 2016 (that’s what my character migration said) Jumped back in not expecting too much. I haven’t put it down since launch! Regular performance somehow looks the best for me on my roku tv. Brought back some good memories and details I overlooked with the story. Online is great and there’s so much to do after all those updates I missed! For $10 on ps5. We’ll worth it.

It’s on sale right now and I already own the game through a license transfer but only on my Xbox series S and it’s in my living room but I also own a Xbox series X and I can’t play it since I don’t have a licence transfer on this Xbox from my friend, so should I pay the 25$ to get story mode and gta online just so I can play it on my series x? Or I can pay 13$ for the online only but like I said I already own this game through a license transfer with my friend but I can only play on my series s in my living room and I also own a 165/120hz monitor that I play on with my series x but my series s in my living room I’m playing with a 4K tv but idk if it’s worth it?
