Knife making - My best made liner lock by far
This is my 5th liner lock ever made! It's my best liner lock by far! It has the best blade to handle ratio that I have ever made. This is due to the new lock up, that does not need a integral slide for the stop pin. I also tried out making a folder with thinner liners than I have done previously. I dropped bolsters and pocket clip to reduce weight, and I sure will be carrying this one around when I go for a hike! I hope you enjoy!

¡Muchas gracias!
Great blade.
Absolutely beautiful. I don't have nearly as much patience with sanding my knives as you do. Great work man
Thank you! All you need is a good podcast! Hehe. Thanks! What kind of knives do you make?
@@Inmyshed so far I've only made full tang knives from 5160 with a 1x30 as I'm relatively new to it and working on a student budget. I'm definitely taking a lot of inspiration from some of your videos on my next project :D
Cool! I will make some fulltangs in the future too! I love a good, sturdy knife! I started slow with a low budget too! With time you get more and more tools! :D thank you so much! Im glad I could help! Good luck with your next build!
Wonderful❤

Great
Thanks!
Nice job and nice video
Thanks!
So biutiful poket knives 👍tks
Thanks!
Good job....and without $20k tools !!! You gave me a few tips.
Hi! Thank you! I am saving for better gear, but there is a lot you can do with little, for sure!
Not quite the right project for a beginner like myself but such a cool build! greetings from germany ✌️
Danke! I belive you can do it! It just takes time! I still use about 50-60hours making a folding knife🤷🏼♂️😂
Great, excellent. The one-hand opening is an unnecessary effort in my opinion to produce and I have never understood why so many manufacturers aim there. I also recommend that you invest in a new drill press. I had a real pleasure to look at the process, also your effort in photographing it so that it is so accessible and pleasant to us, the viewers, is evident.
I think it is really satisfying flipping it open with one hand, but yeah, its a harder process making it! I am saving for a new one! Thank you so much! I do my best, and I learn more and more how to make it look pleasent! Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you!
Хороший нож, хорошая ручная работа.
Very nice job. Make me one.!
Thanks! I do not sell knives yet!
Shoooowwwww
Wow thats so cool i am 14 and trying to make my first knives but you did it so much better 😂❤❤❤
Hi! That is awsome! I hope you keep at it! Let me know if you start a KZhead channel! Good luck on your next build! 😀
Love it. I use a jiffy peanut butter container myself lol 🤙
Thanks! but I don't get the peanut butter comment.
@@Inmyshed I use a peanut butter jar container to do my stone washing
Ahh! Now i get it! :D cool!
@@Inmyshed you on Instagram ?
No! Not yet! Figured I needed some more knives first!
I can see where your grind line is beginning to blur… that’s because of the one handed sanding… two hands help perpendicular to the work piece at all times
👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽top
Thanks!
Great job my friend 👍 im wanting to make a pocket knife im just not sure if I'm up to the challenge
Thanks! Just start!
Well done son 😂😂 another very nice knife indeed 😁😁🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you Karl!
Top!!!👍👍👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thanks man!
😮🙌❤️❤️❤️
Lovely job. What's that file-like tool you used to make the grooves on the back of the blade?
Hi! its a checkering file!
Put the dremel in a vice pointing down like a drill press … then put the liner on a bit of wood or whatever and kiss in that depression for the lock relief… works much better than freehand like I see here and I used to do…. Great work….
Hi! I am not freehanding the lockbar? I use a dremel cutting disk in my drill, and have it mounted on a 2x4’’ that slides on a fixed table.
@@Inmyshed the depression you make to relieve the lockbar.. you used a mini sanding drum in your dremel... I mean to create that sanded depression at the bottom. Not the lockbar itself
Ah! I get it now! I will try this out some cutoffs and see if i can do it! Thanks!
Is it worth sanding to a higher grit before heat treat so you don't have to sand as much when the blade is hard?
Hi! With the old belt grinder and its setup, consistency was difficult. These days I have a new grinder and do it by hand. Now I take it up to 400 before heat treat.
men, thanks for this great video sharing.. what name that different file?
Hi! Thanks! See description on the video. My checkering file is linked there.
@@Inmyshed thanks my friend.. u making great works.. im waiting ur new videos.
Thank you! I am finishing up a knife in the next days and hope to get a new video out on sunday! If not, it will come soon after! Again, thank you!
Was this also 01 Tool Steel? I've been looking into knife making for a hobby and a project I can't get out of my head. Trying to find one relatively easy to harden and work with and I've seen previous videos of you treating it in a small brick forge using minimal tools.
Yes! Its o1 Tool Steel! Haha me neither! Its all I think about! It is so satisfying! I hope you start too! I have only worked with 1095 and o1, so thats all i know! I feel its easy to work with! If I remember right, outdoors55 on youtube has some great videos of o1 and 1095 hardening, tempering etc! Look for his older stuff! Great channel! Good luck man!
@@Inmyshed hah! His videos are the ones I blame most for making me want to try some hobbiest knife making. Thanks for the response!
Haha same here! Its not a lot of tools you need to get going, so I hope you start! Good luck! Sure! Thanks for the comment!
Watch ekim knives folder making please. And why you Install the detent first and then bend the lockbar with heat? All the hardness is going out of the detent ball
Hi! I do it first, because I harden the lockbar and give it a spring temper afterwards, so I dont think its a problem. Doing it the other way around would, I think the lockbar would be too hard to get a snug fit with the detent ball.
At minute 6:04, what are these stones that you put in the plastic bottle?
Just regular gravle rocks.
Seriously, do you have a shop where you sell your art? I’d love to have one of these heirloom pieces!! Thanks
Thanks you so much! I do not sell knives yet.
For a right handed, the direction of the spring is inverted. Or is it?
Yes! This was before I realize that mattered. hehe.
What type of screws did you use? Also was that copper you used as a washer or brass?
Hi! It was pivot screws, Ø3mm on the pivot, and Ø2mm in the back. I modified them to fit.
Hello and realy great work! Why is this your best linerlock? Greets from Bochum(Germany) Christian
Hi! Thank you! Its my best liner made so far due to the handle- to blade ratio, the centering of the blade and the thin liners wich make it a light knife to carry around. I also think its the most aesthetically pleasing liner lock I have made.
Can anyone let me know what is the name of the apparatus for cutting the bevels at 0:53?
Hi! Just look up «bevel jig». I made mine cheap, from just a 90 degree angle and some bolts!
What material do you using for liners?
Hi! o1 tool steel!
Would you consider making some and selling them?? If so depending on the price I'll buy 3-5 of them. If not could I pay you for the dimensions of all the parts? I love the style and the fact that you made a liner lock completely by hand. I wanna buy or make a few of them for me, my dad, and my brothers
Hi! I want to sell liner locks when I can make all the parts for it my self. As of now, I do not own a mill, so I have to buy pivot screws etc. I do not have the dimensions now. How ever, I can make a sheet with it for the next one I make and post it as PDF. That way you can just print it out and copy. I hope that helps! Thank you very much!
@Inmyshed yes it does thank you very much. My dad uses his knives as tools and you have that really upswept tip that would be perfect for that
American tanto blade shape
Great work! any template available?
Hi! Thank you so much! No, I still draw with a pen on regular paper, cut it out with scissors and take it from there. I will however learn to use some sort og CAD program in the future and make it avable.
@@Inmyshed old school, the best way! thanks for the answer
Haha yeah! No problem!
Super .6-6.30 minute, what is the name of the process, and what are the ingredients? thanks
Hi! thanks for the comment! I polished the blade up to mirror polish, cleaned it off with aceton, then boiled vinegar 5% with water. 5050. Added some salt and submersed the blade in it for 10 min. Then took blade out, rinsed off the leftovers from the oxidation, boiled up the vinegar and water, and repeated the submersion the the blade for 10 min. I did this 3 x times. Then I got some rocks, put it in a bottle, sprayed it down with WD40 and let it rotate for 20 min. That part is called "stone washing".
@@Inmyshed thanks
No problem! Good luck with your project!
then bake at 350 degrees until golden brown
👍×100~^^
Thanks!
Where do I get one please..
Haha thanks! I think I will be selling knives some time in the future!
How can l get yuor sal thls knafe
Hi! I do not sell knifes, maybe in the future! Hehe
ما إسم ساءل منفظلك
aha ...sweet like in the good old day,s
Thank you!😀
how thick is your liner
Can I get one of your knives. Is it possible ❤❤❤
Левая плашка лопнула???
Shame that most crucial part - lock fitting to the blade - was left behind the video.
😃😃💪💪👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏🙋🙋
Haha thanks! 😀😀
I like the interns of the knife but the stock killed it! that's one ugly piece of wood! and the screws protruding out! you could jam a finger nail on the screws, but as for the workmanship I give it a B- because of the wood and screws. but still nice work! better than what I could do hands down! continue your great work!
Tell me how you really feel!? haha. Well IMHO I think the desert iron wood looks amazing, and you are of course entitled to think what you want about it. Thank you!
Take me money.
Haha😂
How can I get one???
I do not sell knives yet. Sorry
Steel , wood and about 2/3 weekends
I think the liner lock is the wrong side of the liner
Hi! Not if you are a lefty! I was just checking out how it would feel. I am new to knife making and like to experiment with different things!
@@Inmyshed it is awesome. Keep up the good work
Thanks man!
Great knife and stop the petty moans pple
Thanks! Im glad you liked it!
not knocking the workmanship at all! A+! but I must be honest with my self, if I say it's beautiful, I would be lying to you and my self! the wood looks water stain rotten wood! the screw are sticking way out! with a knife liked that! you should have a contrast look! as long as you like it! who really care! take care!
That wasn’t knocking the workmanship?
Lmao post your homemade knife then
