  • Morgan stopped making steel chassis cars in 2020. All new Morgan 4-wheel cars use their CX-Generation bonded aluminium platform. The body is constructed using an ash frame with an aluminium skin. The engines are BMW TwinPower 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo or the BMW "B58" TwinPower straight 6-cylinder turbo.

    @RoyCousins@RoyCousins6 ай бұрын
    • I imagine a straight 6 turbo moves these little cars pretty well. I also imagine the sensation of speed is much more visceral moving at half the speed of some insulated cabin modern cars.

    • I just think id be better off doing something like payingnto commission a frame for a deisgn i want for a purpose in mind and then commission the type of body i want and have a guy drop in the engine i need. I think about me doing it all but that also sucks balls and i think a lot of problems not most but many can he solved by giving the right guy enough money and time. Ford has enough of a soul that in hard times they go code red and they batten down the hatches and all boots are on deck and theyll come out with a mavrick but you mever see them doing what a guy does in his garage with an old jeep willys and a kubota diesel engine. Thats more my vibe. Except i hate the djes of combining a super old body frame etc to an old motor. It makes more sense to me to try to mske the same thing except out of like 1/8ths square tubing so itneould just not be this junk stamped out in despiration. I cant stand plastic buttons. I think jeep went off the rails after ww2. The junk was junk back then we coulda gone a whole different way

    @tims8603@tims86036 ай бұрын
    • And really not that expensive, considering the low production numbers and amount of hand fitting and fettering. I mean, you're looking at less than a hundred grand for a beautiful, wonderful car, pretty much from a bygone era.

  • I aspire to be like this car company, one day. Modern vehicles are nice, but are no longer effective as commuter cars. Too much computerized nonsense to still be affordable; most of it not even required by law. Just greedy companies trying to turn an Altima into a Rolls Royce. To see a modern machine with the soul of a 30s race car is an inspiration.

  • One thing that has always intrigued me about Morgan, although not limited to them with Volkswagen and Packard being two other makes that followed this philosophy, was that the exterior appearance changed very little over the years. Also, the Morgans from the 60's on maintain their value quite well. I have never owned one but have always had a soft spot in my heart for them. One story that surfaced many years ago was that the cycle - car craze scared Henry Ford as he was worried that sales of the Model T would suffer as a result. Fortunately for him, the Model T outlived the cycle - car fad.

  • Morgan is an unique manufacturer and has been that way for over 100 years. They were a family owned company but I think they are now owned by an Italian concern. While they keep some of the traditional methods going their quality and attention to details can be rather lacking. I was very much interested in getting a Morgan 3W when they came out but the closer I looked at it the more disappointed I became. Now the S&S V-twin motor will not make emission standards so they went with a modern Ford water cooled 3 cylinder under the hood. So I decided to build my own and address the issues I had with the Morgan. See my avatar.

  • Super cool video!! I have been assembling a machine shop to support my KZhead channel that I will be starting with the build of a 1928 Morgan RIP GN special 3 wheeler with 4 wheels. I am using an experimental aircraft opposed twin supercharged engine. This will be mated to an MG 4 speed manual gearbox with a 2 piece hand cast aluminum adapter. This will be connected to an MG differential with beautiful wire wheels. The frame I stood over steel and will have aircraft cloth stretched over and sprayed with plasticizer. This will have a boat tail look and is essentially a 20's airplane without a propeller or wings. There is only one other in existence and Charlie Martin races it in the UK. The next project lined up is the building of a Brooklands style cycle car similar to the Pembleton. This will have a BMW R-100 engine in the front and four wheels with gorgeous leather interior and even space for luggage. I look forward to seeing everyone over at the channel when it gets warm out enough to be in the barn in Pennsylvania .....

A Morgan is a weekend toy . And honestly, 50mpg on something that weighs so little, isn’t all that impressive if you think about it? Also, I googled. About 6 Morgan’s get roughly 30+ mpg, while the others get around 25. Even the 3 wheeler gets 25.
