    • Hi Sanghsheel! It's a tricky one with isolations...it's helpful and important to practice them very slowly while you're learning. This helps make sure you are correctly hitting the right spots with your arms and developing good technique to make them look smooth. The problem with this though, is that the slower you move your arm, the less you have momentum on your side working to help you move the hoop with more ease. So it's all muscle muscle muscle! This is where people generally WANT to switch to a smaller/lighter hoop to learn these moves. For my students I personally don't encourage this, unless they absolutely have to, as learning tricks like this with your bigger hoop a) helps develop your muscle strength to execute this smoothly and b) allows you to flow movements together in your dance with the one hoop you can spin on your body as well (to save having to jump between big and little hoop during your dance routine). My tips are to...practice a little each day, giving your muscles enough time to recover and switch arms. Alternatively, IF your hoop is just too large and heavy for you to do this without pain or discomfort, learn on a smaller hoop, but slowly aim to work your way up in strength to do it with your normal hoop. Once you start getting the technique down, you can make the movements faster without losing your technique and the momentum will really kick in to help you along! Hope that makes sense and is helpful for you. Keep at it!! Caitlyn x

    • That's so wonderful to hear. A nice slow way to ease yourself into dancing is to get the moves you are really comfortable with and dont have to think about and start adding in a little movement with your feed. e.g. maybe spinning on your hand but stepping side to side to the beat of the music/ doing a weave in your hands and step, touch with your foot on the ground etc. Just start incorporating the movement slowly and it will start to feel natural like the rest of it. Have fun!!

    @perati88@perati882 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Bee, as I posted on another comment you left, for your height (assuming you are average size around the waist) i'd recommend a 90-95cm hoop. Weighted would be roughly 300-400grams depending on the style of hoop you get. You want to stay away from the ultra light weight "polypro" hoops that even when made to a large size, will still not be heavy enough to properly spin on your waist. When I keep my hands at 6, the hoop is so slippery that it kind of falls down, and this also prevents me from being able to perform smoothly. Thank you for the quick reply, I was honestly not expecting anything😊

      @oddball1336@oddball13362 жыл бұрын
    • @@oddball1336 you really need to be holding the hoop tightly in your hand. It shouldn't be able to slide through your fist if you are squeezing firmly enough. You can add some grip to the inner circumference but it sounds like you are probably just not holding it tight enough. Hope that makes sense!

  • Should beginers buy heavy or light weight hula hoop?

    @poojakohli8793@poojakohli8793 Жыл бұрын
    • If you'd like to be able to learn to hula hoop on your body (waist chest shoulders legs) it's recommended to get a weighted larger hula hoop. The size and weight varies significantly from person to person based on personal body types. My beginner hoop was approx 100cm OD and weight approx 350-400grams. I am 5'8 and a size 10 AU. If you are larger around the waist you want to size up in a hula hoop. Or more petite size down a little bit. Some people also like to get an alternative much smaller light weight hoop to practice hand tricks but these make the waist hooping very very difficult or impossible.

    • Hiya Bee! When recommending a hoop, we really need to take into account your waist circumference as well as height. For your height I would recommend starting on a 90-95cm weighted dance hoop. If you carry extra weight around your middle section, i'd go up a size (95-100cm) or larger if plus size. Hope that helps! Please let me know if you need more info. You should be able to execute this movement at any speed, slow or fast and still have it stay in place. When you get the gist of the flexing of the fingers at the same time as you're reaching across with your arm, it will make more sense and you can speed it up from there. Hope that makes sense!
