  • As someone who grew up with 2 abusive birth parents, she may have missed out on years of dysfunction and trauma. Though I understand her need to know where she came from, she is very blessed to have loving adoptive parents. Sometimes, what we see as a bad thing can actually be a blessing in disguise. • I think it's probably easier for us who were raised in toxic environments by parents who didn't care but us to see it this way. So many times I would have preferred to have adoptive parents who really love me, rather than biological ones who didn't. But I now understand that everything that happened in my life was part of my path. I have learned from everything. And I'm okay. I survived and I have grown so much through the process. I love myself and I know my value, even if others don't.

Knowing your biological heritage info could mean finding out about issues that are crucial. In particular, suppose she needed a bone marrow or kidney transplant, or a rare blood type transfusion? • The last thing she said about being ready for the real emotions- is so true. I'm adopted. Ive always known im adopted. I fantasized about my birth mother through out my childhood. I always knew I would look for her 1 day, and was so nervous, and happy and anxious when the day finally came. It was a good meeting, but I never imagined the guilt I would feel.....This woman I had searched for in my dreams, and as an adult spent 8 months trying to find- and when I met her and heard her story. She was 17 when she had me. Her very Catholic parents sent her away to hide her pregnancy. She lived with nuns till she had me. She didn't want to give me up. but she had no support. When she came home, no one talked about me. She had to grieve in silence, it broke my heart....but I felt so guilty- she went through so much....but I felt guilty, because I love my mother who raised me so much, and I don't think i could love my birth mother the same way or even close. It still weighs on me 10 years after finding her....be prepared for anything when you find your birth family~

    • You will understand her love for you..and be able to share in that love..with her..without fear of diminishing or taking away from the love of your adoptive mom..However, you will only be able to come to a peace with loving your birth mom in another place and time. It might not happen while you are here on this earth..but it WILL happen....only this will occur for you both.. on the other side of the veil..All primal wounds will be made whole there..In Heaven. No love is divided there..only multiplied.

    • One thing good about love is that it's never depleted, you never run out.. You don't need to categorize the kind of love for your birth mother.. Just love her as a human being that you came out of. Love freely and it will find the place that it belongs.

    • No. They have safe harbor locations just for this purpose. Those places existed when she was born. The mother left that baby on a cold apartment doorstep in January after midnight. The infant wasn't found until like 3am. If the biological mother loved her baby she wouldn't have hid her pregnancy from her family and abandoned her baby hours later. 18 year olds were having babies in 1992, it wasn't a huge taboo then. I mean an apartment complex? You can walk into any hospital or fire department and surrender a child newborn to two years old. I agree with you that she hit the adoptive parents jackpot however. This young lady deserves so much more than the sad lonely start, her life began on a doorstep.

  • I am happy she has found a sense of peace about who she is, and her adoptive parents appear to be great people. I hope they each find forgiveness & grace through their continued familial processes, it can't be easy for any of them. Humans can make awful decisions especially early in life; being teenagers who knows what their own lives were missing or like. Thank goodness someone found her in time. Had a mentee who was abandoned in the garbage as a newborn; took years of real work to overcome the trauma from such an abandonment. 🥺 Such stories can emphasize the maternal while the existence of the paternal is equally crucial to healing. Having myself been raised by an orphaned Father who lost both his parents early in life, he was the most significant influence in my own life. Hopefully young people in similar situations find that there are acceptable ways to be responsible even though they themselves are overwhelmed. 🖤

  • This very pretty woman doesn't understand that the person leaving her on a stranger's doorstep was trying to spare this newborn baby from an unhappy life. So she sought out someone to take care of her daughter, and keep her safe & said a little prayer that someday this beautiful baby girl would seek her out as a beautiful woman so she could explain. This wasn't a rejection of the baby. The mom wanted to save the baby from an environment that might have killed her. Remember that when you dwell on the sadder aspects of what you don't understand YET!

    • She was probably older and in a better position to take care of them.

    • @@ayedashh I'm sorry your biological mom's abandoned you but on the flip side, I'm happy that you were raised by someone who treated you with a lot love but it's possible your biological mom's secretly had at least 1 more child after you or before you who she abandoned or "got rid of" 🤷‍♀️
