What is perplexing me is that today we know that having granite chin, if you keep getting hit for the huge majority means, that granite slowly turns to wood, then sand, then water. But then you have people like George Foreman, who took so many shots that their brain should be mushed, yet Foreman even today speaks normally, like he didn't take a shot in his life. It just seems... unnatural?

Hagler : never staggered, buckled, hurt, or knocked down. And the publicized "knockdown" by Roldan was the result of a slip after getting pulled down by Roldan. See the replay. Hagler is the toughest I've seen - best chin too.
@kufujitsu6 жыл бұрын
@ kufujitsu - Without question Hagler had one great chin... but HW wise, I always think of Ray Mercer... but, for me, the best ever chin, has to be James Toney... NEVER stopped, NEVER knocked out...in 92 fights... James Toney went 12 rounds, twice, with 18 stone Samuel Peters... Toney, a once middleweight champion, was NEVER even hurt by Holyfield at Heavyweight... Sure, Toney lost fights, but only on points... Would Hagler have been able to put on 4 stone and jump in the ring with Holyfield or bigger puncher Peters....Nobody, in 92 fights, has ever knocked Toney out, that's incredible considering his rise through the weights...Roy Jones Jr was knocked clean out by Glen Johnson and Tarver...god knows what the 18 stone big puncher Peters would've done to him... James Toney, FACT, knocked OUT Wladimir Klitscho out in sparring... Peppe Roach and other respected witnesses have stated that it's true... Relatively, Hagler definitely had a better chin than the likes of Lewis, even Tyson. Would've been best ever HW if 4 stone heavier and 6 inches taller....No wonder Leonard ducked Hagler until '87... Hagler was calling him out in '83 after he beat Duran, and in '85 after the war with Hearns...Leonard shat himself, even retired to avoid facing Marvin, only coming out of retirement to fight him when he knew he had a chance because Hagler had lost speed and sharpness...Hagler doesn't get the praise he deserves, too many pricks harping on about Sugar Ray Leonard, no doubt unaware that he ducked Marvin for 4 years, lost to Duran when Duran was fit, only beat Duran when Ray made sure that Duran would be exhausted, hence his lethargy in the 'No Mas' bout...Apologies for going on, just can't stand Leonard getting all the glory, when he was more of a crafty coward, waiting, scheming, more crafty than Mayweather has ever been...Leonard only fought the big boys when he knew he would win...Hagler, Duran, Hearns? They were men, men that would fight anyone anywhere...End of rant. Lights out

Haglar HAS to be no 1 The 1st round "knockdown" against Roldan was a clear slip, and Haglar protested to the ref as such.. I cannot count that...Aside from that, he never went down as amateur or pro... He fought the hardest punchers not only in his division, but the best from that weight class in history. Never ever saw him even staggered...Incredible,. He went to war for three rounds with Hearns says everything about his chin... Best 3 rounds in boxing history.

& his career ended with a robbery, manipulated into giving every concession to the fake that SRL had become. Without the despicable, corrupt antics of SRL & the WBC (see donny lalonde), there would be no FW. Would Hagler have agreed to a fight against McGregor, or Hearns, or SRR, or their like? The simple answer is no.....what a fucking travesty boxing has become, commonplace to avoid anyone considered a match. fighters skipping 2 weight divisions & getting a title fight (khan, brook) with no hope of winning, just getting a big payday. Did champions before SRL get to choose the size of the ring, the referee, the weight of the gloves, the venue, the date, the opponent even? Larry Holmes, a dominant world champion came in first against Cooney, thanks to SRL & his bullshit.Fighters blaming their losses on "i had nothing to fight for" (the public forgetting they are prizefighters) or my gumshield wasn't fitting, or i had to lose too much weight, or my lucky socks got shrunk. Earning tens of millions & fighting only once every 12-18 months, it's all a farce

Ali Knocked out Foreman when he was considered the most Dangerous boxer ever? That fact that Ali beat a young Foreman should have out him as #1
SC Challenger hes talking about 2nd foreman never even got knocked down
It wasn't his chin, it was those big giant forearms that he used to protect his chin. Anytime Foreman got hurt, he would cover his face with those forearms aka barricades

It just seems... unnatural?

Vitali rarely got hit except for the Lennox Lewis fight.
denzelsnipes69 Vitali got hit a lot more than his brother did in fights, where people couldn’t even land a punch on Wladimir, Vitali would rely on his reflexes keeping his hands to his knees yet when he did get caught it was like he didn’t even notice.

Its not strictly about "the chin" as such, but I think Arthur Abraham is the toughest dog of them all. Going more than half the fight with a broken (not injured, straight out broken) jaw while also taking lots of hits to it is just insane. More insane is that he even made a full recovery later.
What Georg Foreman was absorbing in that 12 rounnds from Evander Holyfield was not normal! (Heavyweights), that could knock out easy 20 normal duds in a row.

Hagler : never staggered, buckled, hurt, or knocked down. And the publicized "knockdown" by Roldan was the result of a slip after getting pulled down by Roldan. See the replay. Hagler is the toughest I've seen - best chin too.
Lights out
kufujitsu NOPE. Evander is. Took HW shots like tequilla.
cypresspuz Holy deserved to be rated up there, but you can't ignore his 2nd Riddick Bowe fight - Holy was knocked out clean.....
cypresspuz lol apart from bowe
kufujitsu I thought hagler had been dropped before
Always look forward to your videos yours is the very best boxing channel on KZhead
I agree wit your comment bill bob.😁
h
Ray Mercer definitely one of the best chins out there with Arturo gatti this is such a good video I freaking love boxing
Tough as he may be, if a guy has a visible broken jaw from 10ft away the fight should be ended. This type of thing should differentiate boxing from bar fights.
If someone wants to continue, what business is it of yours?
@@MastaSmack Well, as a fan i agree that it should be stopped, as a fighter i will fight even with a missing leg and broken neck, we dont always know whats best for us
@@ComanderComander This is my body, not yours...I did not appoint anyone to Lord over me, nor do I want or ask for guidance in my life's journey. If I'm in a fight with a broken hand, and broken jaw and want to try and knock someone out with one hand, that's my business. I want to die young, not hanging around like some old fart in a nursing home...that's a bullshit way to go.
@@MastaSmack it's the refs job to protect the fighters, mainly from themselves
@@MastaSmack wow your so edgy and cool
Sugar Ray Robinson has to be there. 85 bouts as amateur and 200+ bouts as a pro and he never got stopped.
Rendon Nunez I think it’s because he barely got touched. He fought with a great defense
he actually got stopped.
@@b_de_silva That was due to heat not becuase of his chin.
@@roctv100 yeah maybe but he did so claiming that he didnt ia lying
He got stopped by jake lammotta didn’t he?
Well, guess I gotta watch Raging Bull tonight. Great video, as always.
I'd argue that Gatti didn't have a great chin. He got rocked and knocked down/out often. But his heart kept him going.
Antics Semantics Heart can only get you so far in boxing though
there's no argument gatti has a wicked chin look at his wars with mickey ward the man has a chin and the biggest heart
Cause he had no defense
Excellent job on the video!
I agree. Took the words right out my mouth
Nobody counts that because it wasn't a knock down. Hagler just got mad at beat up Roldan worse.
I feel like you could also have included Ruslan Provodnikov - that guy was made out of something else. I don’t think he was that great a boxer but after seeing him getting lit up by Lucas Matthysse for 12 rounds and ending up looking like Mr. Potato Head, all without being stopped, dropped or even stunned left me in awe.
I would even add maidana to the mix.
@@merryjoy48 Maidana got knocked down 3 times by Ortiz.
Great video. Some of these guys were supernatural how the massive brutal punches bounced off them. Amazing footage of Ali in the 1960s when he was untouchable.
So many great choices... was an awesome video.
Just when I thought I was going to fall asleep on my job, thank you boxing legends 🥊 💯
Your videos are like a comfortable ride that I never want to end.
thats how i feel too lol when it nears the end im like "what, already?"
Brilliant as always.
Do you have merch would love to support this channel the content is amazing
Rocky Marciano
Indeed, the Rock should have been on this video.
I can't imagine having a broken chin and then taking even more punches to the chin.
That shit would hurt like a bitch
And still wining the fight afterwards
I don’t think you can feel it if it’s broken
@@JoseCastillo-cq1tj hurts like shit my guy I’ve had bones broken and they don’t just get numb 😂
Great video!😀
Fighting with a broken jaw = super human toughness
I am sorry but the Lennox in them glasses 😂
I'm sure Abraham's chin is pretty much bulletproof, now that it's reinforced with titanium.
When you consider Vitali and Wladimir are brothers it's a mystery how they have such hugely contrasting chins.
Cant tell you how many times I've watched this great vid man
"Good thing they stopped the fight 'cause I wanted to get killed." Damn!
Holyfield, Foreman, GGG, Lamotta
Foreman is there
Margarito shouldn’t be included in any videos alongside the other greats of boxing.. His cheating ruined careers.
Excellent compilation, as always. I have to agree about Tua and Chuvalo. Granite chins and explosive stopping power.
David Tua better be on this list.
Did you not watch the video ? Of course he's on the list.
Braveheart he’s new here
That Canello punch on GGG was pure dynamite, GGG didn't seem to flinch. After the punch Canello had the look of "OH SHIT WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!"
Chuvalo is one impressive man given the amount of fights and punches he took and the era he boxed in add to that the tragedy he dealt with he deserves the utmost respect. Honourable mention for Chris Eubanks, Dwight Braxton, Eric Morales, Mickey Ward and many others who make boxing such an amazing sport.
you are able to make such a brutal sport appear so poetic, I simply have to watch every one to the end. Thank you
Absolutely, #! LaMotta, but Rocky Marciano should be there too.
@Naeem Islam Lmfao bullshit he is the best chin
@Naeem Islam he got knocked down but not knocked out you wanker best chin 49-0 44 Kos
@Naeem Islam okay but is he undefeated tho
@Naeem Islam everything
2:20? Did that announcer say a "wet dream of orgasmic proportions!" 😂😂😂
Yesss 😂
That's actually a soccer commentator. It was from a soccer match
That tribute to Ali just warmed my heart. Good on ya brother.
Tony tucker? Joshua clottey? Rocky marciano? Didn't know about marion wilson or maxie rosenbloom btw. Very illustrative video
Fullshark 09 Tony Tucker had a decent chin. Took a lot of clean punches from Tyson and wasn't knocked down until Lennox Lewis faced him and then he got knocked out by Herbie Hide and John Ruiz.
Cannot believe you didn't at least mention James Braddock, Joe Louis called him the toughest man he'd ever fought. Amazing chin
Louis knocked him out with 1 punch
This is such an amazing channel.
Oliver McCall is my No. 1 chin ever, a journeyman who became champion. He really ate the biggest shots one could imagine taking with ease. Freakish in the best of ways.
I love to see Gatti's fights. I guess his chin was made of granite or something like that.
every Samoan
Minnesota Fatz yup. All Samoans are tough and have granite chins
Raitis Pujats mark hunt is a another example
Raitis Pujats Nah I've seen plenty of them knocked on their ass. You are talking about Tua and Parker the very elite best of the best toughest of the toughest not some average bum at the bar
I saw a nigga hit a Tongan guy as hard as he could and the dude didn't flinch. Seriously this is one of the hardest punches I've seen thrown IRL and that dude just ate it and took him to the ground
Charlie Digital That's anecdotal evidence that's the exception not the rule.
Thank you for that video I agree 100% and also thank you even more for that tribute to my favorite Jake LA Motta
Love The Video 🥊
12:05 wow, Hagler looks like intelligent Floyd Mayweather
