  • Thank you for taking the opportunity to drive around and videotape this. I used to live in Wyoming and miss the long drive through the pass during winter, all the sounds of the wind and windshield wipers and the car, so It is so nice to be able to sit and listen to this. Thank you

I would have used a few expletives. Lol . Thanks for an enjoyably relaxing video . You City looks beautiful by the way . Hello 👋 from Ireland 🇮🇪

    • The snow in Halifax looks a lot dryer then what we get in Vancouver bc and Seattle, as you know when it snows in our 2 cities it starts as rain a lot of times then the roads freeze up and we get the heavy wet snow ,

    • Homicidal snow is not horrible. Tis the season. Just like Spring flowers and fall colors. It’s just another pretty season. In Michigan it’s not as bad as this. Yeah it snows about 50-120 inches of snow every winter but it isn’t normal to have this type of snowstorm. We get the fat snowflakes and breezy lake effect snow. Less treacherous lol (this is a blizzard)

  • It's interesting how different the snow accumulation was just by going slightly inland, I live in the Hammonds Plains/ Tantallon region and we easily got over 80+ cm of snow, my car was nearly buried under a snow drift, I was called crazy when I willingly went out and drive to timmies in the storm we got back on Friday. But even this a little much for me, I hunkered and rode it out.

    • I don't blame you for that, I'm the same here, there is an odd tranquility to driving on the back roads out where I live when it snows, kind of puts you in a relaxed state if you will. Kind of the same feeling when driving in rain during the summer.

I use to live in Northern Ontario in conditions much like this (all the time) until I reached 17 years old and scrammed out of there westbound all the way to the Pacific Ocean at warp 9 and never ever looked back. I've never been subjected to these conditions since then -> circa 1971. I wouldn't survive 5 minutes in those conditions now. Downtown Westend Vancouver NEVER gets anything like this... thank heavens. *Burrrrrrr shivers shakes*

    @savonnaestreet@savonnaestreet5 жыл бұрын
    • Lots of people get stuck, especially the buses because the city doesn't think it's necessary to install winter tires on them. If you have winter tires and use your senses, the odds of getting stuck or losing control are actually pretty low.

    • CptSchmidt would you recommend a certain type of vehicle to make it easier or a certain type of tire?

      @savonnaestreet@savonnaestreet5 жыл бұрын
    • Really any kind of vehicle is okay if you're smart about it. Having winter tires makes a huge difference; you can get snow tires with different kinds of tread, and you can even get studded tires which are the best.Just drive whatever makes you the most comfortable. RWD vehicles generally perform poorly in snow and ice. AWD is good in snow and 4WD is better. There is a myth that a lot of people believe, and that's that you can carelessly drive trucks and SUVs in these conditions and not have to worry; it doesn't matter what you drive-without adjusting your driving for the conditions, the risk of a crash greatly amplifies.

    @andrewhowden5826@andrewhowden58266 жыл бұрын
    • In Sweden, when there is a weather like this, everything goes on as usual. Of course some delays but with the larger streets full of cars in traffic, it's not easy keeping the surface in a good condition.
