SQUARE THE CLUBFACE...HOW DO YOU HOLD THE GOLF CLUB? How you are holding the golf club is really effecting where your club face is pointing at impact in relation to your club path a WEAK grip can promote a SLICE ands a strong grip can promote a hook golf shot. this aim of your grip is to allow you to have a good consistent golf swing and face to path relationship.
Hold and grip the golf club correctly for LONGER straighter drives and pure strike on tyour irons with less curvature
most golfers that play and are members of a golf club don't have the athleticism of the likes of Tiger Woods and Bryson De Chambeau so we have to make sure ew are moving in the correct way to the best of our ability use the arms and the body to slingshot the arm around the body and put less swing speed in but hit LONGER straighter drives. But one thing we can all control is how we hold the golf club with IRONS and driver and what impact this has on the club face being square at address
THIS driver GOLF GRIP swing tip is simple and easy to understand for all levels of golfers that will allow you to hit the golf ball longer and find the centre of the club face more often allowing you to hit longer straighter drives more often

    • Thank again Alex. I was really struggling to get my grip to sit correctly. This simple tip of putting the club on your shoulder and gripping it from there has helped immensely. It locks in just nicely and not tightly. Hitting balls in the backyard my whole swing now feels smooth with much better rythem and ball striking a lot more consistent. Unfortunately been in lockdown . But will hit the course on Friday and see what happens. :) So yes grip is probably the most important part of the swing.

  • Hi Alex, I view almost every KZhead videos that you post. For this one, I'd like to add my observations about how I play as far as gripping is concerned. I am new to golf and my handicap is really high at 30 (I took up golf almost two years ago after my 60th birthday). Thus, I have been fighting some physical limitations to date (I have succeeded to fix my SI joint instability and today 18/04/2022 is my second club comp without pain). Needless to say, while living with that (mainly because nobody was able to pinpoint as to why I was really not able to keep up with my playing friends), I could hardly play let alone practice. I am right-handed and when I walk people notice that my right shoulder is markedly lower than my left shoulder. My golf grip is strong as I can see almost 3 knuckles of my left hand. The crease of my right hand is pointing towards the corner of my left shoulder. At the beginning of any club comp at around 7:30am, after usually a minimum of warm-up stretches, with a setup to promote a draw, despite aiming straight down the fairways ahead, my first drive goes straight and fades a little, but 25 degrees right from straight ahead as aimed. The next shot is usually a 5-iron and with a similar result. And then, without changing anything, my ball slowly goes straight. If I start by aiming left from straight-ahead things go awry without any predictable pattern. So I think that I am comfortable with my grip and that I should do at least 30 mins warm-up on the range before I start any comp round. Just want to share my story! Keep up the good work, Alex.

  • Wow Alex, that was SO WELL explained, it makes so much sense. I am a 68y/o older, long time golfer, and my game has never been better recently, I am roughly playing around a 17h/c - with much more golf playing time these days now that I've retired, but this is a part of my game I'm trying to hone, always been a fader but really trying to learn how to draw the ball more, and I'm starting to appreciate just how important the grip is for this. - Thank you very much, I will be putting this into practice.

  • This was helpful. My grip is super stronger and I have tried time and time again to make it neutral. However, it has failed me the longer the club becomes. I have somewhat gotten around this by aiming further left and now I am going to experiment with large grips to aid in adding more surface to make my hands comfy.

  • 3 comments, Alex. First, I used your video on the driver by placing the club at take away along the swing path and right shoulder leaning down. Not only was I hitting range balls 220-230 into rough but dead straight. Fantastic tip. Second, I used your video on setting up my irons by positioning ahead of the ball and my weight on my left side. Once gain, longer and straighter distance with everything from my 52 degree up to my 4-iron. Finally, I used your video on chipping with my 56 degree around the green by making sure my club came back straight along the line of the chip and not outside or inside. Just worked perfectly. That's the complete picture. If any of your subscribers are not doing these 3 tips, they are missing swing improvements that will change their game for the better. Thank you, Lou

  • I grew up with what I was told was a neutral grip, but which is apparently now an extremely weak one! I've strengthened my grip the past few years to get more draw and lower ball flight. When I showed my instructor what I considered to be a strong grip, he just chuckled and shook his head. Had me move my hands another good inch more around to the right. Felt absolutely bizarre at first, but I saw results immediately.

  • i have had a slice problem for way more than a decade by now, last year i had 4 (or so) lessons, and the coach (i'm a leftie by the way) had me wrap my left (bottom) hand so far under my left hand knuckles were pointing at approx. 7:30 on a clock face. recently i'd started to get my slice creeping in again, as i went through the usual suspects, after quite some time, and in desperation, i went for doing the opposite of what i was taught, and wrapped my left/bottom hand so far around (clockwise) it showed ALL 4 knuckles, with my thumb pointing at 2:15 on a clock face. it (may have ) cost me 10/15 yards on my best drive, but on average 5/7 yards, but i'm straight as an arrow, and after a decade plus (and i'm being kind at that, very kind) i'm sticking with STRAIGHT, believe me. the grip has caused me to have less of a backswing, but knowing i'm gonna be straight has allowed me to strike the ball with far more confidence. i play on a very tight course and was sick of going on the nature trail. i guess next time on the range i'll try the under grip on my left hand with a shorter backswing and see if the shorter backswing WAS the CURE. but at the end of the day i've got the UGLY grip to fall back on, hopefully proving one 'fix' does not cure all. i look at jim furyk and think, i'd love his ability but hate the swing, but in the end, i'd obviously take the second if the first came with it.

  • I can work the ball both ways, playing with a weak grip. However, I don’t recommend this for everybody. I don’t have enough right side bend, or rotation to play a strong grip. I encourage people to try and hit a fade, with a strong grip. Then, try and hit a draw, with a weak grip. You’ll figure out a lot about your swing. I agree with experimenting with “extremes” in golf, in order to find middle ground. And you’re right! Club face is KING, in this game.

  • Hi Alex, love your simple instruction drills. I am constantly fighting to stop a left pointing divot on approaching irons to greens. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you.

  • Hurt Right Hand... Alex, through an odd accident while swinging my club at a Driving Range, I hurt the 3 fingers on my right hand. I have lost some grip strength in my right hand. If I need to make my left hand more dominant in my swing, should I use a stronger grip or neutral when I swing the club?

  • For most of us weekend players, strong grip is standard for driver, woods and even long irons. We all want to hit draw shot from inside-out path which makes less ball spin for longer carry distance. 250 yards is more helpful for the second shot using controllable mid iron, rather than 220 yards that needs long iron or hybrid in a PAR 4. Notice that not many golfers can hit draw shot. Just saying.

    • you can talk to a fade, a draw won't listen. "Lee Trevino 😂 i hate my natural draw with a passion. if/when I'm hitting a fade the ball stops dead on greens. the draw always rolls through the back

  • I am mostly aware of the fact that grip is essential to hit the ball well. Êspecially when I hit the driver. Litle bit strong grip so draw biased. Right hand from under up.

  • And if you "oppose" the hands on the club? Ben Hogan talked about the trail hand in the "Waiter's tray" at the top of the backswing as well as "Throwing a skipping rock" at impact. (Think about using a long handled hammer and drive a nail into the bottom of a wood plank. How do you hold the hammer? WEAK but in the most efficient and powerful position to apply speed and force to the hammer as you impact the nail.) As with my putting grip (VERY unorthodox but highly effective for face angle control) the lead hand is as weak as possible but the trail hand is as strong as possible. These opposing tendencies to open and shut the club face result in a very stable, reproducible and effective presentation to the ball at impact. Hit it dead straight, exactly where you are aiming, swinging as hard as needed for the shot. Hands are clamps and must be kept from influencing the orientation of the club face.

  • What a brillant help ! It has from time to time with my neutral grip got me into some trouble … Such as the Driver going a bit right even though I thought I did everything right and with my irons at times going to much to the left!!🤔 But now I know it has to do with my neutral grip that could get me in to trouble sometimes… I practice it at the driving rang today and after a bit of training I went out to play on the golf course 🍃🏌🏻‍♂️ - Worked like a charm 🙏🏻☺️💪🏻 Thank you So much straighter and so much more fun and enjoyable ..

  • Hey man…good vid. I’m having a problem of a strong grip but fading driver. Not sure if it is the grip? The driver? Shaft? I swing around 100-105 average clubhead…it’s a ping g430 10k head with a tour chrome 2.0 65 X flex shaft. Fitted at pga superstore. I mean…I don’t mind the fade as it is a fairway finder, but I have to really try hard to turn the ball over into a draw…sometimes it just goes straight when I try too. Hard to draw it. Head is set at standard 10.5 setting. Could the head weight? The shaft being too stiff or heavy cause the fade? I used to hook driver like crazy. I’m currently a 5 hcp
