I Made A Shiny Ball Out Of Aluminum FOIL
I started this project a couple of years ago and now that I can't taste or smell, it's the perfect opportunity to finish it. Hammer, hammer, hammer...✨🔮

When other people were fretting about Emmy coming up with videos without taste or smell I was like, nah she's crafty haha
They forget the channels history!
She could easily do asmr too 😂 her voice is so soothing
Same!
Awww so good for you, great job!
I figured she might do goofy tiktok recipes and recruit her kids to taste test
This is Emmy’s orb era. First that beautiful blackened orange, now this. Can’t wait to see what kind of spheres she makes next 😂

@@emmymade bruh make a sphere series until you get better

@@emmymade how about edible orbeez? food and science combined and you can try other spherification techniques too perhaps? hope you get better soon!

My word, I will reiterate what’s already been said so many times before: it doesn’t matter WHAT you are doing, you are an absolute delight to watch!!!! We adore you!!
Aww...thank you. 💛💛💛
Emmy is such a positive person. Her personality is just so warm.
Yeah but... she eats babies.
Came for the shiny ball, stayed for the life lesson!
💛💛💛
True!
Dumb comment
Same
Honestly tho
This is a bit random- but I love how Emmy wears the same clothes in videos; it's very refreshing to see someone who posts consistently having a limited closet just like everyone else. Plus, I like this shirt a lot!
Oddly, I have never noticed. Hm
I just had the same thought! It makes it feel more realistic/less produced and I appreciate it.
The "Types of Whales" shirt is my favorite. :)
So agree. She’s probably not wasteful and frivolous in real life. And she practices what she preaches.
Same! I just thought how I really like that hoodie and I’ve seen it before
Actually, I made a couple by accident! I scrunched up 3 kinda large balls of aluminum foil because I didn’t have any dryer balls. A couple of runs through the dryer and they are much smaller, round, hard, and shiny baubles!
They look just like Emmy’s pre-polished ones.
Lol i just commented the same thing! Your heating element didn't happen to go out after using foil balls for a while did it? 🤔
@@tatchik77 No. I got myself 3 skeins of 100% wool and made my own woolen balls.
I did the same. I have a very shiny, but somewhat lopsided, hard aluminum ball. Just from keeping it in my dryer. I also used a pair of wool socks, rolled up in a ball, for a wool dryer ball.
@@janiehill4256 how did you make that?
Emmy just rolling around her little ball is purity at it's finest.
💛💛💛
if life hands you lemons, make super pretty easy home crafty projects! your kind and engaging vibe shine through, thank you! happy to hear you are feeling better, hope you and fam will be right as rain soon
💛💛💛
Myth Busters did an episode to see if one could literally "polish a turd". And yes, it worked! 😄
I'm absolutely ecstatic that your senses are coming back Emmy! I'd watch your videos whether or not they're about food, but I know how much you love to eat and how gifted you are at communicating what things taste like, so what a blessing for yourself and for us that your taste is coming back. Meanwhile my crow brain is very satisfied by shiny ball content.
Thank you! And so glad you found the process of making a shiny ball as satisfying as I did.
Years ago, my grandparents bought a couple old heavily oxidized aluminum measuring cups and pots at a yard sale....they spent winter messing with them, but they were mirror bright when they were done. Looked better than new...as you said, a lot of patience and love went into that...
Emmy getting so existential with this chunk of aluminum! I love it!
💛
Didn't think I'd watch a video from emmy about making a shiny ball but here I am
😂
All the way to the end!!! ❤❤❤
Same! 🤣❤️
Right here with ya. Emmy makes life joyous
There's a tool that jewelers, leather & ceramic workers use called a burnisher. It is used to polish metal, leather & ceramics. It is made from a variety of materials such as bone, wood, agate, etc. A commercially available burnisher is made of agate. You can find them at jewelery supply shops & websites.
Cool! Thanks for the tip. ✨
Or a simple sunshine cloth if u want to keep using elbow grease...lol
You always have such quirky content! I came for gadget and gizmo use and identification and found so much more. You are always so fun to watch whatever you're doing.
I’m so glad your ability to smell and taste are coming back!!!
Thank you!
I love how you're taking it all in stride. I love how you're finding the metaphors. Mostly, I'm glad your sense of taste and smell are returning. Keep doing what you're doing! 😊
Hi Emmy! So glad to hear that your sense of smell and taste is starting to come back. I sure hope it continues to improve. Love your videos!
Thank you!
I love these project videos. More please!
i clicked this to watch foil turned into a ball but now I’m crying over the stuff Emmy said about patience, imperfections, not thinking about how long it takes to finish something etc.
Way to go girl!! I think it'll be fun to do while watching a movie! Gonna try it. It would fun to have a bowl full of them for decorating! Thanks!
If you really are capable of filling a bowl of these just for decorating, you then have a huge amount of potential being absolutely wasted. 1: One ball at your desk or beside your bed is fine. 2: Just buy marbles and pebbles to decorate if you really feel like doing so. It does require an eye for decoration but it will look even better. 3: Maybe you should learn an instrument instead.
@@nodezsh Thank you for that unnecessarily condescending comment. People can do whatever they want with their time, and something that doesn't require much brain power, but keeps your hands occupied, might be good for people with anxiety or other issues.
Very meditative...peaceful _and_ busy. Good luck!
I love the switching back and forth of the two balls. It magically doubles and shrinks! ❤
Emmy, you’re just a very cool person. Keeping a positive perspective with the loss of taste and smell. And making something beautiful. I admire you.
My nephew n i r soo happy to hear your sense of smell n taste. We would still watch you. You have a charm that is refreshing.
This video and your words are honestly so poetic and wise! i find myself wanting to apply what you said to other projects i’ve abandoned, like learning to draw anatomy! Emmy, you’re a gem
That was so satisfying! Thanks for showing us the end of this project, Emmy!
Glad you are doing better! My whole family had the flu during the holidays and I know the feeling of getting back to normalization and how much better you feel when sickness passes!! This was such a cool thing to see. I love the aluminum foil ball idea.
Love it! Emmy rocks! More crafty stuff Emmy please.
You know you are the best at what you do when you run out of tools and then you craft new ones. I wish you the best Emmy! Hope you regain all your taste/smell!
Emmy -that was very Mr. Rogers of you and I loved it! 😊 You are a gem!
It might be out of season but making wire crystal ornaments would be a fun DIY (usually salt or sugar based)
Use salt. Sugar attracts ants. Lol!
I’d looooove if Emmy did this!

Happy New Year!!! I'm glad you are starting to feel better. ❤️
Emmy, you are so comforting and relaxing to watch. You're like a warm hug.
Emmy, you’re never bored! I say yes, continue that other foil ball! Great channel - one of my favorites. ✌🏾♥️
So glad you are feeling normal again! I just love your videos and your positivity!
Well Van Gogh had his blue period and his time with sunflowers, looks like Emmy is just showing everyone she always has more tricks up her sleeves. Always love the content cause you are always a sweet delight. Remember to care of yourself ❤️
Emmy, before your taste comes back, you must try pumpkin puree. I'm not kidding, it's one of the best things you'll ever taste and it'll only be possible right now.
Is that because the flavour would be too strong with full range of taste/smell?
@@_arman_ no, it's absolutely boring and unappetizing normally, but with the covid variant that saps taste, it somehow makes pumpkin puree amazing. It's one of the few things that actually has a taste at all and I'm going to spread this awareness, because it's the only time a person will ever get to taste this. It's also one of the few silver linings to covid.
Next time you wet sand something, put a few drops of hand dishwashing soap in to the water. It makes the sanding easier and it helps to extend the life of the sandpaper.
I hope your healing goes well and without complications. Get well soon, Emmy!
This video is AMAZING! I never thought to do this until now!
More people need to do this kind of thing to learn. Patience, and to not let the little things frustrate you. Enjoy the process.
you could do videos like practicing cake art and piping techniques and just making really creative, pretty looking cakes or something?? and your family could taste test for you! 💗
This is kinda uncanny. A few days ago, I started polishing some stuff around my house and thought it was very therapeutic, I can spend hours just polishing stuff, making them shine is so satisfying... I thought I was a bit weird for developing that feeling, as it became almost addictive. And now you post that video... I NEED to start making my little ball as soon as possible lol thanks.
This channel is free therapy. Thank you Emmy!
You are so vivacious and full of life. Even when your smell and taste is gone you manage to stay so grateful.❤
You should also try a "sunshine cloth". It helps the metal/metal alloy to combine. It will make a great shine. Good luck!
So refreshing to see a sunshiny host making a wonderful project that you don’t need to buy $200 worth or craft supplies to do. Thank you ! Definitely gonna try. New sub 😮
Brasso represent! Polishing the brass was one of our chores growing up! I kind of liked it. My brother, not so much! You are always so delightful, inspired, inspiring and informative. Thank you 😊!
So great. And that clay ball is gorgeous!
oh thank god, youre literally the only thing i watche in youtube and actually enjoy, im so happy your slowly getting better
Glad to hear you’re recovering 👍
That's beautiful Emmy!! Job well done.
You can actually make your own Christmas tree decorations like that, such a beautiful aluminium sphere 😆
Dear Emmy. I made a similar ball a few years ago when trying to make dryer balls. I scrunched leftover foil into a ball shape and left it in my dryer each time. Sometimes they didn’t do well at all but I have a few balls that are just beautiful. I suppose it is the same principal. The tossing in the clothes dryer imitated the hammer tapping. But is much easier and was fun to find them xxx
I remember the original trend and video!! Very cool Emmy! Praying your taste and smell returns quickly.
Emmy, I'm so excited to watch this! and I wish you a quick return to smell and tastedom!
No matter how I feel, Emmy's videos always make my day :D Thank you, Emmy!
That is too cool! I’m SO glad your senses are coming back slowly! Woo hoo!
Ah such a blast from the past Emmy I love it! I remember watching Rob do it like it was yesterday, which if you ever read this, glad to see you back Rob! Emmy I’ll watch anything you put up, it’s like chilling with a friend or watching your parent do something cool!
Who is rob you have my curiosity
Sending you and your family well wishes from Philly. My husband and I just recovered from our first bout with COVID this week. Luckily we still had our full range of taste and smell but we had to gain back what little energy we lost as well as our appetite. Sending you all positive vibes and bountiful energy!!!

Thanks! I learned something new! We love you emmy!💗
hope you and your family are all better now!
This was soo cool!!! Ugh I love your videos SO much 😭❤️
Perfect example that patience is an artform in itself
This is only my second video of yours that I've watched, but you're like a modern Bob Ross. I love it.
I’m stunned that you got that shiny jewel from a sheet of aluminum foil. Mind blown 🤯
I made one myself a few years back, but somehow lost it. Emmy this instructional is awesome from begining to end, Excellent!!!
Food is science, if you do more stuff like that I’d watch regardless. Crafts, scientific experiments - I’d love to see that from you Emmy!!!! You can do anything!!!!! 🎉
thank you for sharing, and also a shout out to Rob. We all love Rob, and I am so happy to hear you are SMELLING BETTER! :)
If you go right down to nail buffers you’ll get an even better shine, there’s like a fabric come faux leather that really looks like nails have a high gloss with gel perfectly smooth, but it’s just buffed
Hi Emmy, well done with the ball…a real treat as all your cooking vids!
Hope your taste and smell come back soon. What ever the subject matter of the video Emmy makes, its going to be entertaining. We will also learn something along the way. Like todays video. Patience and perseverance gets you a beautiful result. Kindness. True genuine kindness is hard to find. Especially in todays world of instant access internet. Emmy embodies kindness. You KNOW when you sit to watch an Emmy Made video its going to be an escape from what at times can be a toxic dumping ground. Thank you Emmy. Your kindness shines.
💛💛💛
I like the “action” shot of the ball rolling about!
The little Emmy that could! I love your videos . I’ve been watching since your ration days 😁😁 you are so warm and amazing. I can see how you’ve lasted so long. Best wishes 😊😊
Awesome project, Emmy! who doesn't love balls!!!

Our cat's favourite toy.....a foil ball !! I also have one I throw in my dryer instead of fabric softener sheets to remove static !
Smart cat. 😆
I made one years ago, so satisfying (I never sanded though). yay for your smell and taste coming back even if slowly 💕
It would be a nice adventure time doing recreational things with Emmy. 😇♥️👏
I am so glad you are recovering, Emmy!
WOW!!! For both of the balls!! The clay is cool too!!
Can we all just take the time to applaud Emmy for taking time for herself and doing/getting her nails done! Is this a skill of yours that you have yet to share with us Emmy? 😃
I want to do this! Way to go, Emmy!! So cool!
This was lovely. Humbling❤
Good to hear you are feeling better
The patience is unreal. I could never.
you should make a video trying foods you don't like before your smell comes back fully
Emmy coming through with the pivot while her tastebuds gradually return!
I might have to make a ball for our cats. This was a very fun video; I'm looking forward to watching the clay one. Hope your sense of smell returns soon! 🥂 🥂, to your health!
I just have 13 cats. I make foil balls and toilet paper cigarettes and bobbypin and hair ties whatever...
Thanks for being here, your videos made all the difference in my life ❤️
Yay for projects!! And good to hear you are recovering. 💛
We are very emotional, and tbh, we cried when we saw Emmy finished her shiny beautiful ball ❤️❤️❤️
One of my friends lost her taste and smell and its been over a year and she doesn't have it back, she eats food by texture now, which she said is a really odd experience but like she likes eating completely different things, like bread apparently feels really weird without the taste
"Embrace the struggle" ... I had a teacher in high school who I was NOT very fond of... he and I rarely saw eye to eye and I in fact often disobeyed him simply because I didn't like him or his class. Many of my classmates felt the same way, walking into his room felt like walking into boot camp some days. One day a peer of mine shouted "This class sucks!" In the middle of his lesson, to which he looked up, smirked, and said "Well then embrace the suck. Enjoy the suck." Now, in my 20s and studying to become a teacher myself, I smile when I think of him and recite to myself "Embrace the suck" or "enjoy the suck" when life starts to... well... suck! I don't entirely agree with all of his methods, but I think fondly of him now. In his own way, he was making us all better adults and although I have forgotten many of his lessons, I know one of his lessons I will always remember.
