  • Absolutely awesome!. When I take my 8th graders through their Astronomy section of the yearly curriculum, you better believe I discuss the fact that not only did Ms. Hamilton write the code for the world's greatest space adventure, she did it in an age when Science, and NASA, were still very much a male-dominated area. But, her brains and perseverance fortunately prevailed. Thank you, Margaret, you took humanity to the moon.

    • Margaret Hamilton didn't "write the code", as you say. She was Director of the Software Engineering Division at the MIT Laboratory that developed the AGC software...which would've been considerably more responsibility than a code writer.

    • There was no computer power to do complex operations in manouvring, eihter way to, during orbits and engagements, or returning. Your mobile phone is 4million times RAM and 1 million times ROM more powerful, 100K times faster than Apollo, and would trust on your phone do those milimetrics couplings? Also there was no laser measuring,. And the computer service from Earth was not real time.

    • seems more to me because she is a successful female, would this have even got half the attention if this had been done about a male? seems quite a sexist society we live in when we appreciate the contributions of females more than that of males...i am not saying we should appreciate the contributions of males more than females, i am talking about appreciating them equally

    • @@d3g3n3r4t3 You're trolling, but I'm responding anyway. Women, historically, had credit for their contributions to humanity stolen by their male colleagues. Yes, a tribute to women who earn their success is necessary. Men are written in history books and are the "default" founders of history. Women have been largely ignored or discredited for their ideas. Women were limited to roles in homemaking and child care due to sexism by the status quo throughout history. Plenty of men are acknowledged for the great contributions they made to the world, but when Margaret Hamilton gets credit, you think it's sexist.
