  • I don't really understand why that question was so offensive in the first place. Respect to the reporter for just speaking his mind and not backing down.

    @ANGELOFDARKification@ANGELOFDARKification2 жыл бұрын
    • I don't think it's offensive I think it's just an unnecessary question. It's more than obvious that teams should win games. The questions are in the analysis of the game and different elements that make up decisions and plays, etc. Imagine playing your heart out for someone to ask you a question that doesn't really even speak to the truth of how the game coordinated and played. This, sir, is a waste of time. If an interviewer can answer the question then why do they need the interview? The power is in what you ask and how it is asked. For example, Westbrook asks a very open-ended question, "What do you think should change?", to which the reporter responds "Winning.", which Westbrook says is obvious and he then asks the open-ended question again, "What do you think should change?" The way the question is framed from Westbrook is intended to illicit thought, consideration, and analysis of how and what factors were contributors to the outcome of the game. However, the reporter answered is in a closed manner. Open questions are designed to get you to think. Closed questions are designed to have you not think and just answer. As a journalist he should know this. Note that Westbrook doesn't disagree with the reporter, then he clarifies at the end to which the reporter asks a real question and Westbrook said he respected that because it's an actual question.

    • Honestly its just a common sports question when teams are in a slump to get the scoop on what new strategies teams are possibly going to adapt Are they gonna implement new schemes Style of play, practice on ball security more, overall chemistry? Off ball assignments? Fast breaks Etc. For reporters to be the first ones in coverage to gain views on getting inside information on how a big name team plans on making a turn around before it actually happens It's part of adding context to data analysies

  • It's actually sad you have to clarify 5 different ways that you're not personally attacking a basketball player when you ask a strictly basketball related question. No one cares if you "respect" a reporter. We care that you answer their fair questions clearly and back it up with actions. He basically asked why have the Lakers been losing. You act like you weren't on the court with the best view of how yall just lost. If you don't know why you lost, you'll say "nothing changes" and you'll continue to lose. Doing the same thing generally yields the same result. That's how everything in life works and you respecting or not respecting a reporter didn't change the question you had no answer for. Coming from a big Russ fan since back in the OKC MVP run

    @envoydroid4027@envoydroid40272 жыл бұрын
    • Fully agree with this, Players take the question as if its a personal attack, they aren't asking you 'if you could cheat on your wife who would it be with?', he's asking a fair question and just wants a decent answer

      @ParrotsTT@ParrotsTT2 жыл бұрын
    • Nowadays they take everything personally. You playing ball dude, he asked a basketball question and how does you think you can fix the problems you're facing. Players always run to the argument too that they're attacking me on social media. Those are mostly trolls or haters not fans, real fans would ask you to play harder and give it your all and if you show them that and still lose they would be more understanding. You can't expect us to see you bullshitting on the court and still be happy that the team lost!

Any other nba player can gave the exact same answer and I bet u guys would not have a problem with it. And even if Russ had given his personal opinion and went into detail of what must change, u guys would still find fault with it. Plus is that not a question for the leader of the team, Lebron??? Who tf do u guys think Russ is over there LA or anywhere in the NBA? these are questions for the leader of the team and Russ by the looks of things doesn't even have a say in anything, how do u expect him to sit there and talk of how they must change while nothing is supposed to change, u guys know that they play Lebron's way of basketball, there's nothing to change, they will keep playing the same way and if they win, Lebron will get the credit and if they lose, it will be left to Russ to answer these dumb questions.

  • The reporter here is doing his job very well, asking a good question. I can still see where Russ is coming from, at a certain point they lump all the critics and media together, because some will be trying to twist words and create narratives. I think Westbrook had the misfortune of being placed in the worst possible system for him at a stage of his career where he's losing his athleticism. The situation makes the decline seem even worse. I empathize with the man, but that's part of his job, being discussed, being analyzed, criticized and everything. It's not the sport that makes them money, it's the fact that it's part of a big entertainment industry, and media contributes to that entertainment.

  • It aint always easy having to answer questions post game, I bet it gets really annoying. Russ is intense and competitive and this is just part of his personality. Thats why we love him though. I always give him the benefit of the doubt when he gets "hostile" with the press. Every time just look at bro he is so annoyed that he has to be there answering questions! Even if we love our jobs there's always gonna be a part that just SUCKS and we gotta do it cause its our job. The media really spins this narrative of Russell acting like this in every interview. I think Russ' persona hugely inflated by a media depiction and all of you have drank the koolaid. James, like with Anthony Davis demanded the Lakers get Russell Westbrook, and when it didn't work they blamed Westbrook. Like LeBron LeBron and the Lakers playing chess, they chose the pieces to move. They make the wrong move and lost. Westbrook just accommodated them. Now he's moved on and is in a better place.
