      @richardpkable@richardpkable4 жыл бұрын
    • richardpkable She’s well spoken because she is rich, well educated, well read and has traveled a lot. Countries where the majority of citizens fall under these categories are an absolute minority. Most countries have bad educational systems, the US isn’t the worst. I get why Americans are considered stupid and ignorant by most other developed nations worldwide, but there’s far worse out there, and I say this as a non American. Lana’s repertoire is better than average everywhere in the world, if you’re even better than her and know a lot of people around you who are too, you’re probably privileged either by your economical situation or your country’s educational system, or both. However that’s not the reality most people out there live in.

      @sugar_plum_fairy@sugar_plum_fairy4 жыл бұрын
    • Nijat Gasimov no its much deeper than that. She meant that the current state of the world and the USA in particular has grabbed the attention of a free & creative mind usually not caught up in the system. She clearly is a very thoughtful person and to compare this era we live in to the art of a previous creative and (in somewhat similar) mind of a bygone era on the corruptions of ‘The American Dream’ she wonders what they would think with a smile. As she knows that is probably what they would do when they realised how right they were.

Born to Die was an album that came along when I was around 18/19 and made me feel like someone was there with me when I felt alone and scared of life. Used to listen to it on the bus on the way to my apprenticeship. One of my favourite albums and have been a fan ever since. I would fold in half in front of her. When you find music or a film that is perfect for the day or time in your life you develop a super deep connection with them and I have that for her music. Same for me with Lost in Translation and some video games.

I think everyone noticed her but I loved how everyone respected her space and became... quiet. Almost in shock and awe at the sight of an angel.

Sultry and dangerous in her music is simple but BEAUTIFUL! it’s hard to find true talent and uniqueness in this day in age in all genres of music. Everyone sounds the same, creates the same sound, and even looks/acts the same. It’s very annoying!

Of course there is good music out there, but the point is is that in today's world it's hard to find. She was probably referring to music of Lana's type.

    • One thing I first noticed about her voice, when I first started listening to her, is how wide her range is. She can go from really low, soulful chest voice to very high, angelic girly voice in a couple is bars. I really enjoy singing and am pretty decent, but i have a hard time with lower notes, so that's something i really noticed with her music.

  • I think what’s interesting about her is the way she approaches subjects around female sexuality, Hollywood aesthetic, American nostalgia and a dedication to highlighting all the things in society people have deemed bad, but haven’t ever looked at the elements of freedom that come from being a wondering nomad, sex worker and indie artist. Like the radio host said a fan said…Lana has played a huge part in why artists are NOT trying to be Pop stars. She’s proven you can be successful and not be an upbeat Top 40 billboard hot 100 type of artists. She’s very much earned the title of “Queen Of Alternative-Pop” and we can’t take that from her. To me, only Florence Welch can compete with her artistically among her peers.
