  • I think hate is the wrong word to describe Mary and Elizabeth's relationship. They had their ups and downs, but even in the end when all of Mary's advisers were pressuring her to sign Lizzie's death warrant she couldn't bring herself to do it. Part of it was her fear of God's judgment if it turned out Elizabeth was innocent of her supposed treason, but another part was Elizabeth WAS her sister whom she loved.

Catherine of Aragon was much beloved by the English people, whereas Anne Boleyn was very much disliked. And their daughters were the opposite reputation to their mothers. Elizabeth I was popular, unlike her mother, and Mary I was not loved like her mother was.

But it is also appropriate to use it in reference to space and location (especially in old English). But it is also used in modern English. For example: “Right before my eyes was......”. • I think Mary was a victim, because she was following her mother's footsteps as a devout Catholic. And her father split with the Catholic Church, which I think made her sad. Poor Mary.

  • Add me to the 'victim' column. The reason she was so obsessive likely related to it being the only mental refuge she had. Stripped of everything she had ever known, the one thing they couldn't possibly take was her faith. Thus, any perceived threat to catholicism was also a threat to the very foundation of her being. I imagine that her endometriosis and other hardships also likely gave her a belief that hardship was the foundation of faith and pain the path to salvation.

  • In 5th grade, me and 2 of my friends tried this and we used one of those plug in electronic candles, and RIGHT when I finished saying the words, the light went off. My heart dropped, I did NOT expect it to work. Turns out, a squirrel got in a transformer and made it blow right at that exact moment.. if you ask me, that's STILL weird.. lol I was terrified to walk in front of a mirror in a dark room for the next year, I thought she could come out and get me if I stayed in a dark room with a mirror for too long 😂 this is a 100% true story, I swear to God.

    • I'm not sure it was for the sake of love, I'd rather say for the power. Since the first wife couldn't bear a son, and he was in need to get one by all means possible, he was looking for any possible way to do that. Even if that meant the revolution of the church. I'm not even sure if he ever loved either of his wives.
