This has to be the most relaxing feature showcase I've ever had the pleasure to witness
really?? that music clip got to be so annoying to me I couldn't finish...
Blown away. Excellent work, Bitwig. I love the update. Please consider giving us customizable UI colours/themes.
Also semi Transparent clips so we can see the grid lines on the timeline behind the clips!
this is the star of 5.2
6:04 This is wonderful. Virtual hug to everyone has worked on this feature.
agreed, that's the one thing I'm noticing that easily makes things more fun and fast out of all of these
Bitwig's editing functions are great. Thanks a lot! I came up with a feature idea for the audio editing panel. It's a ScratchPad section on top, where you could temporarily place samples while you rearrange the loop.
Please just get some abstraction going in the Grid. I came to Bitwig from Max and I'm really struggling with not being able to create bigger ideas because I can't group stuff into containers in the Grid. I tried to get used to it for a while but the truth is that my new stuff is much less innovative than my Max stuff because I'm just not doing the detailed work I used to do. Please help
I second this. If we got some proper abstraction and a GUI editor, that would be life changing. Also the ability to use more of the stock devices in the grid would be huge.
I completely agree
Bitwig has containers: m.kzhead.info/sun/f9SkabaEh6h_oIU/bejne.html
@@glyph6757 Those are great yes but not those type of containers
Why did yoj switch?
Finally! So happy to see fundamental stuff like keyboard editing and navigation through transients slowly being integrated in Bitwig! You're giving me hope for a video implementation in the not-too-distant-future!
Really nice, i love that you adress QoL things! It would be absolutely awesome, when a) the playbackbar itself could be moved via Arrow-Keys, jumping from beatcount to beatcount, after having clicked on the beat-time-ruler at the top of the Arranger/Editor. b) the new "Time Range Cursor" could optionally be coupled with the playback bar position, so that Play-From-Cursor finally would be possible in Bitwig. @2:00 when deleting Automation Points, the Automationlane gets out of focus, and has to be accessed/focused via mouse-clicking again. It would be nice when instead of getting out of focus, the time-range-cursor appears right at the deletion-spot.
YALL IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH BITWIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was doubtful that this suggestion/request was high priority but i am so happy that this is here now. This is 100% my new primary daw.
this video is such a vibe ❤
How fast would you drop to your knees after the bitwig devs unzipped their pants?
Coming from FL Studio, my experience with Bitwig's "Piano Roll" is frustrating. I have to triple my usual clicks to reach my goal, all while needing to be painfully precise with each click.
YES THIS 😩
You'll get used to it. Perhaps try using the pencil tool instead of the regular pointer or switching between the different cursor/editing types/tools (you can switch between them using 1 through 5 with your keyboard)
Apparently it is still not possible to add notes in the note editor (Piano Roll) via the (computer) keyboard ... otherwise this would have been mentioned. A real pity. ☹
Just press "caps lock" to enter notes from your comp keyboard. It is like that from V1. rtfm
On arrangement, Hand is busy on the left azerty zone, arrows are unwelcome so maybe if you can invent a function who ad a possibility for holding an automation dot in axis way (time and (or) value axis) with the mouse.
Great update, thanks! I'm wondering though if the inversion of keyboard shortcuts, when working on clips VS when working on audio or note events, could create some confusion. For example: - Left arrow on a clip selects the next clip on the left, while on an audio event, it moves the event. - Alt + left arrow on a clip moves the clip, while on an audio event, it selects the next clip on the left.
This is a really good point.
Yes. It is counter intuitive. And also when switching modes it is not apparent which one you in. Need to keep in mind…
I must say this really makes this new update shine. Nice.
Just a looping device thats sets tempo already and watch people get excited 🎉
Very nice. Keyboard editing, or lack of, is what prevents me from moving on from old school trackers.
What a smooth track playing there. Love the sounds.
Nice this gets me closer to my reaper workflow in bitwig. Workflow is life
I was just mentioning that...if the devs would just create a scripting language or open up the API...however that works. Let the community go at it and create amazing tools for your DAW.
This is what we're talking about! More of this! Star of the udpate! Now if you would just open up the API more to allow deep custom scripting for as much as possible(Max for Live, Reaper JS) You guys would really be rockin! Let the community make what they want for Bitwig!
As a Reaper user who has set shortcuts for a lot of these things, this is very encouraging! Hopefully I can afford to upgrade from 8-track someday.
Glad to see I'm not the only one happy to see this enhancement! Thanks!
Increíble. Larga vida a Bitwig studio🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you thank you. I'm so proud to have update plan.... this compressor update is enormous.
chord track and scale in piano roll is very hard to develop?why you do not add theses fetures?
Absolutely amazing!
Thanks Bitwig totally amazing.
stems audio separation would be amazing i would switch daws in seconds if they added this
this is awesome to see, I am all about this part of the update. would be cool to add not playback on midi when selecting different notes with the arrow keys!
this is nice, looking forward to more of keyboard controls!
This is wonderful. Such a much needed improvement of getting aeound. In thr early days, i eojld scrap avout half of my projects because how thr Selctor and Time range would get me bewildered and i couldnt grab notes or points as easily as i could in other daws. But i grew used to it after a while..but this is very, very nice
Thanks, that's very handy.
Great stuff! The ranger definitely needed more love, and there's room for more. But I like what I'm seeing :)
Good good good! Thank you
We need more vides. Also add this feature: When click +to add effect we can select multiple effects adding to a list, from there with a button it is creating random order/connection/modulation chains and we can pre-listen the created chain. If we like it we can add it to the channel strip. Bitwig is awsome for this method!
Finally! And even with more functions than I hoped for! A bit sad that I just made an AHK2 script for subframe movement of the play needle, like a week ago.😂 At least now I get the reaction to my post on Bitwig Discord server.
Good job
very gooooood
I'm confused as to why using arrow keys with no modifier moves objects and with modifier changes the selection, but then in the clip editor window it's the opposite? Why did they make it like that, seems like more to remember when working and will feel less intuitive since you can't just rely on muscle memory
It would be nice have this for mixer faders as well
It doesn't make sense to me that arrows & Alt+arrows have their function swapped between Arranger and Detail editor. I think arrows alone should always change the selection, and Alt+arrows should always move. Consistence is important in a UI.
Great update, but why arrow keys and the Alt modifier work differently in the arranger timeline and in the audio editor? It seems very confusing to me.
Agreed
Very strange design choice... :-/
Please add new themes for gui! We want dark arrange view, please!
Demo songs of Bitwig are always excellent!
I hope this is taken in the spirit that I intend it: watching this, I felt that Bitwig is getting a bit “Reaper-y”. I love the power and insane potential of Reaper, but using it doesn’t feel like a fluent, natural process unless you’ve reeeeeally put in the time. I worry this feels a bit like that: powerful, but not fluent. I so want Bitwig to be “the Ableton that could have been”, but I think it’s still a work in progress. I think some of the complexity needs to be extrapolated away to make way for a natural flow of operation.
The capacity to manipulate song segments more sophisticatedly, such as with Presonus Studio One as an example, is now implemented in the sequencer?
It would make things more easier and improve workflow.
Are you able to play from the cursor in the detail editor yet?
No
Please add gridlines to the arrangement view behind the clips😭
Great features. When is available? Thanks❤
You can download it now if you have an active upgrade plan.
@@PGAudioworks Thanks I'm in now.
@@ivangonzalez3523 enjoy! I'll definitely be making some free presets today to giveaway.
I'm sorry but where is the replacement in the arrangement view? Like for a kick track for example.
please give us the option to disable the context/hover sensitive mouse. it's infuriating that it does something different when you are on the top half of a track vs the bottom half
Can you guys make a controller like the Push 3 but for Bitwig?? Have you guys thought about it??
Why? Bitwig works with pretty much any midi controller even Push (not 100% of Push 3).
1:30 now just need to make it so that the clip on the right does not get eated by the moving of the pink clip... It could be under the pink clip but stil be there so when you move something, it never make a clip shorter or dissapear a part of it, then you replace it back and it just reappears instead of having to resize it again just because you moved it a the wrong place for a brief instant...
seriously...guys..no groove pool STILL???!!!???!!!????!!?
Yeah, I saw the word Groove in the release notes and freaked, sadly it had nothing to do with groove quantise :(
You can extraxt groove using the new tempo curve thingy.... then apply that to other things... so it's kinda similar to the groove pool. Only issue is it's global I think.
@@pdeswardt Can you though, I'm not even sure how this works?
@@billB101 check polarity's 5.2 video. Towards the latter part of his vid he shows it in action.
@@pdeswardt Thanks I'll have a look, I've played with it already but it doesn't seem to to be what I'm looking for in a Groove template/pool.
I didn’t think it was possible for Bitwig to get even better, but it has. 😃
I think that the GUI can be much better something like Cubase Pro 13.
I think that the GUI in Bitwig is great as is.
Why arranger waveforms still looks like ass? Make it antialiased please.
ARA2 support
Yes, but where is the MIDI comping?
You took away the "convert to time selection" key command. So annoying.😠
fix your waveform rendering
Feelin the Bitwig ASMR series
only I think the sample replace is horrible ? It's a simple thing that greatly improves the work flow
Ho gooood thank you..... 5:33
I can see a problem already. Now you can keep in mind what is chosen object or time selection. Unless there is an icon somewhere at the bottom but I doubt… Also big question here are the previous unacceptable behavior have been fixed? Like opening occupied midi clip jump to c7 octave or bitwig forgets grid resolution…
add themes to Bitwig, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ableton seems legit obsolete since Bitwig 5
Need to lose the “detail editor” for audio editing. It’s an extra step that destroys workflow and doesn’t work in the real world where we need to edit all day for a living. I would be purchasing Bitwig NOW without it. At least offer a way to disable it. I watched this video just to see if you did away with that nonsense workflow impediment. Guys, it’s not an intuitive workflow and while your programmers may like it, real world pros can’t take this program seriously. This program is so good otherwise, I want to switch from Ableton. But Ableton allows me to edit in the timeline without requiring the secondary edit box.
lol. you're nuts. the detail audio editor is one of the best things about bitwig. it will never go away. You're not using it correctly, its not ableton buddy. stop trying to use it like ableton.
@@darkjord5823 no. I have been a full time audio pro for over 33 years. I work 7 days a week. I am expert level on every daw out there. The audio editor is 🗑️ trash. I literally spent the last 9 hours working on today’s production, editing. I’m not going to argue with a novice who has no understanding of a high volume professional production workload.
Close to perfect Not yet!!! But Bitwig is definitely King!!!
