Omg my husband recently passed away and being a retired old lady on a strict budget you are the best!! Thank you so much! I won't freeze or get soaked anymore! Bless you Sir!
My condolences i pray the peace that surpass human understanding be your portion.
Same here. I'm so used to my husband doing things like this. I thank you too SIR.😊
So sorry for your loss.God bless u. U not an old lady. You are older.
Hey Man, I went to the dealership to ask them to do this for me. They said they didn’t have anyone to help me. In two minutes you made it happen for me. Great job…! Thank you so much…!!!!!
You think the stealership was going to help you and miss out on ripping you off for a big pay day.i don’t know what stealership you deem as honorable, but I don’t know of any.
I've always felt that car manufacturers should provide a backup, where you can pop off a small plastic cover, and slip an old style window crank on to roll the windows up and down. Then you have time to get it fixed and just pop the cover back on, and put the crank handle back in the glove box. 😉
My Subaru has that for the sun roof Currently trying to close the jeep in a rain storm
You mean to make things " easy" for people, are you kidding!. Lol.
I think rover did this back in the seventies. I previously owned an Alfa Romeo 916 spider with a electrically operated roof which had an override switch so it could be operated manually if the motors, gearing, or both failed. Which of course they did🤣
The car manufacturers just care about money and not humans.😕 I'm sure if you pay extra for that they would do it.🙄
Excellent idea!
This is genius. I spent 2 hours trying to get my window to go back up aftwr it got atuck down, after watching multiple other videos i found and nothing was working. I found this one and poof, window up! Thank you!!
This was an AWESOME DIY video; I like the simple & easy yet detailed visuals. I also enjoyed learning about the electrical current flow and the jobs of the window components too!
Thank you for your feedback. Very much appreciated 👍🏻
One of the rare , incredibly useful KZhead videos ... Thankyou so much 💯🔥👍
Bloody freakin Amazing ol chap! That is quite honestly the best trick I've ever seen when it comes to cars. (Not to mention the homemade test light) 👏👏👏
From Orlando, Florida, USA...Thank you Sir! Great job, especially with the mention/explanation of the test light rig to save the electronics.
Thank you for this advice. It's so refreshing when some people want to help others for the sake of helping others. Your advice is very helpful in avoiding expensive dealership service fees.
Thank you. Appreciate your comment and feedback 👍🏻
@@EverydayMechanic X.
Thanks mate! very much appreciated as the switch broke today (it's the rainy season here) and I'm the one who ferries our kids all over the place and it would have been a no-go with the window down. Cheers from the Top End of Oz.
A great relaxed way you done this video, it for me made it understandable and interesting nothing rushed easy to fallow when you've never done out like this a great presentation
Two thumbs up from me mate. Thanks, that was great! Plain, and simple and safe.

I LOVE you for making this video!! I am sitting in the parking lot at work wondering how I can get my window back up. What am I going to do when I get home to my apt with no garage to park in??? What if it rains??? Right at the beginning you point out that my passenger side has two separate controls!!! You are a genius! TY! TY! TY! You just saved this single broad ☺️
Great presentation! Thanks for the information. Now I know what I can do until it is fixed.
Thanks. Easiest way to fix my broken Electric window.Much appreciated👍

Great idea and procedure on how to bypass the switch. No damage can be done as you said.you either light the test light or operate the motor. Big thumbs 👍up
Exellent presentation. Calm and concise DIY guidance for a simple solution to avoid expensive dealership service fees. :Cheers!
Possibly the most usefull video I've seen this year...especially as that appears to be a Ford Focus..and thats what I have. Well done young fella!!!! Liked and subbed for that!!
Thank you so much!I opened the window on a hot day after a friend told me that the window does not go up.And this video saved me from looking like more of a fool.He gave me a wierd look for slamming his door hard. But hey at least the wi dow is up lol.
Sounds EXACTLY like my story! 😂 Only difference is I am yet to go outside and try to fix it.... (I'll let you know how I did)

So it works for rear windows
Well here's a fucking Karen
Sweet, easy, neat little fix. Thanks. Unfortunately for me, I've already gone out and purchased a new set of switches.

Thanks very much for that tip 👍 you made my day 😀 keep up the great work
Glad I could help
There are so many brilliant ideas in this simple presentation. Wow. Cool
Amazing info, Thaaaank YOU !! Why would anyone give this a thumbs down ?
Just want you to know there are a few of us non mechanical and electrical types who managed to grasp that by ‘manually closing the window’ you meant manually by passing the switch. Once that was pointed out to me, it suddenly became crystal clear! 🙄 Good video, well done!
Not a good vido as you said he did not manually close it. So he shouldn't post his thumb-nail like he did. Those of us that know how to troubleshoot a switch and check for power don't need his silly-ass video. I clicked on to see if that can be done and I don't think it can with out discounting the elect motor. And that is what holds it I think not sure I'm not a auto mec I'm a retired electrician.
@@michaelburke6552 shut up michael
@@michaelburke6552 what?????
@@scottscoville1118 Do you really not understand what I wrote? If so, if the elec. motor is burn up it does not matter if the switch is good or bad. All he did was jumper across the wires taking the switch out of the system. You would have 3 wires one hot and two switch legs you touch the hot to one window goes up touch the other window goes down. Like I said he did not show how to manually move the window he showed how to see if it was a bad motor or switch. That is if he has checked the fuse first cause if the fuse is blown its probably a bad motor or a short to ground. If you disconnect the switch and it still blows the fuse it's a dead short to ground. If not it's the switch or the motor. That's why I said it was a bad video all he showed was how to jump out a switch.
Very nice tip never knew this could be done
It's really nice for you to show me that that is awesome cuz I made a mistake and used the wire Sparks didn't mess anything up though it's all good thank you once again good video
Nice video mate I will definitely try that out!!
Thanks so much it's getting cold and I have a window down now this that is what I needed to.see
1st time seeing your channel. That was nice and simple and it works. Happy Trails
Dammit you're a magnificent SOB and my hero. Take this thumbs up
Thank you 👍🏻
Good video. What we usually do for a quick temp solution is poppin out the switch from the other door and swapping it just to get the window into a position till we get another switch. Its abt 5 min to take both out, switch it, roll up or down then swap them back. The olds silhouette and chevy ventures are Famous for switches goin out. In fact we started getting extras from junkyard for $4 each bus 45 at autozone. They last abt as long as the new ones. Dont even matter which one, as we have 6 in the fam, ALL of them do it occasionally. Good video, same principles. Good luck everyone.
That works if the connector is same. But on most of my vehicles the master switch wire harness connector is way different than all the other door switches. But yeah this can work if the switches have same plug in. For people like me tho what this guys just showed works (unless your motor is dead) which this vid also rules out at same time 🤙
Cheers Bro. Great vid . Gonna give this a go. Simple and to the point.
Thanks I appreciate helping me keep it simple
Worked a treat thanks mate. From a Brummie in Adelaide Australia
Thanks for your feedback mate. Much appreciated 👍🏻
Thank you so much I been doing it all wrong new got new sub video was perfect simple is good
Brilliant! And so simple. Thank you sir. 👍🏼🇨🇦
Thank you 👍🏻
Good advice. That works if the switch has gone bad. I've had to replace the motor a couple times. Usually it's just the switch.
Thank you, for your very helpful and simple explanation of the windows just "searching for a ground". I have a 2014 gmc 2500 cargo van. Both my driver and passenger windows stopped working at the same time. I know that the fuse/breaker is good, and can't see all the switches going at the same time, so now I'll search for a lost "common" ground.
Wires can develop corrosion overtime. You may have a wire that's corroded or broken, or isn't making good contact anymore. You need to trace the wires from the fuse box to the switches. Those wires usually run under the carpet along the door frames. Had that problem with my Ford Explorer one time. Found a wire that was broken with corrosion on it. I cleaned it and spliced it together and it worked fine.
@@michaelj.campagna404 Thanks'! However, after a lot of trouble shooting, I lucked out. The culprit turned out to be the accessory relay that plugs in right behind the power windows fuse/breaker that is located under the driver seat. That relay is responsible for allowing the power windows to operate for a few seconds after the engine is turned off and also turning off the radio when you open the door after the engine is turned off. Thanks for your helpful comment!
Great info bro ...watching from North Borneo
Thanks for that video, On a few occasions, with a few different friend's, and myself having a switch problem, I have unplugged the switch, sprayed the male and female contacts with WD-40, and they worked once again. Cause of the problem was rain water on the switches. Now when I get a new car with power lock and window switches, I am sure to coat them in good old Water Displacement-40 to prevent it from happening.
This video probably saved me from blowing something up on a '09 PT Cruiser. I was going to jump the "right front window driver up" pin to "fused ignition switch output (run-acc)". I watched this video and decided to just wait on a new switch in the mail.
Fare play kidda, very easey to understand really helpfull clear and explanation Great o worries about that, i personally found it helped me nice quick and very precise. Cheers keep em coming, nice to sde helpfull lads still azbout, ive ga e it a thumbs up and suscribed to all the very best Nicky D, Coventry..

Wow! He's good, simple an effective...
Nice and simple even I woman who knows nothing about a car, I can try this tks
Thank you man! Very very useful!!!!
Thank you for your feedback very much appreciated 👍🏻
Your a legend.. such a simple fix
Perfect, thank you very much!
Worked like a charm> the quickest and less complicated way by far. Fixed all three windows in about 30 minutes and there is no way to mess up, only two pins, up or down!!!!
Hi, just for asking, did you open the panel up for each switch on each window and do it individually that way? I'm about try to do this on my front passenger side of my Honda. Thanks in advance.
If it works on your car you can apply this method to any switch pack
@@EverydayMechanic Great. Thanks!
@@EverydayMechanic Didn't work just with the probe. However I found the negative and then put the light's clip end in that and the probe end in a different one and found one that lit up. Then I pulled the switch up and the light went on and off each time I pulled on the switch. The window didn't move but I'm not sure what to assess from this.
Hi i would say your switch is working fine i would niw look inside the door card and asses if power is making its way to the motor and if the motor is getting power but not moving it would be easy to assume the motor has failed but even then would be best to test motor for resistance before assuming motor has failed
Thanks for your time Man!
Good job and good video sir. Have A Beautiful Day! 🚗🚙🚕
Thank you man. Very easy. I will try it on my car.
Thanks I made the lead with a flasher bulb and window was going up and down no problem when I connected to the correct connectors, so shows my switch is faulty, so have ordered one now, thanks again, great tip 👍
Glad it helped 👍🏻
Useful information thanks for sharing
Thanks for the help! I have a 1996 Ford Mustang GT...yes...1996, so basically before a lot of cars went over the top electronic. One of the rear window switches is a bit wonky from time to time. I found a mechanic who works on "classic" (yes...she's 27 years old) cars and he's great, but $$$$🤑, you know. I will try this for sure. Thanks again...and I did subscribe.🤗
Good job very helpful
Very useful ,thanks for that .
just what I needed. Thanks.
Excellant - Now I know this - I will get myself a test light at Jaycar. Cheers.
Nice tell and show how to do it ! Cheers , mate !
Sweet explanation!
Excellent easily explained well done
Thanks for your feedback 👍🏻
Was about to order a new motor and regulator until I saw this video. It saved me $145.00. Thanks
Thanks for your feedback
Great video , any clues on fixing the locking switch on a 2005 merc ml280 window controller .
YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE AND MY $$$👍🏿
This is wonderful, have tried everything today. Where can I buy one of the light things I need and where are the pins in a Zafira? Sorry if I sound dumb...
I like you. I like the way you talk. Good video. Very helpful 🙏🏼👌
Thanks for your help good luck
I was mad at first because it didn't work for me. I also saw how you were sticking the wires in empty slots. But then i remembered that you have to find the positive first and then complete the circuit. And it worked after 30 minutes of trying to find better grounds. Maybe on some models this work, but mine is an 06 navigator and had to complete the circuit. Thanks either way. My car won't get filled with water.
Hey, I appreciate this.
_thanks saving the day and the bank,.. it's getting cold and my window was stuck down!_
Thank you! I didn’t know that.
Great video. Thanks.
Good info saved my life
Thank you for keeping the video SIMPLE AND EASY TO FOLLOW! Well done! Is there a hack to check my transmission fluid on a Volkswagen beetle
What if this method does not work?
Clear and to the point thank you!
😭😭😭😭😭I've literally spent the whole fucking day looking for this video for that same car & window(driver side)😭😭😭😭thank you soooo much, Sir!! 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿Can't even believe it's that simple, compared to the videos of other cars I came across 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
Excellent!!! I have always jumped wires to the motor! As you say, much safer and done in minutes without having to remove door cards! No good for a faulty motor though! Thanks! 👍
VERY IMPRESSIVE EXPLANATION ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ GREETINGS FROM MAASTRICHT THE NEDERLANDS
