CJI Chandrachud's Special Bengali Farewell to SC Judge Justice Aniruddha Bose | Law Today

The Supreme Court Bar Association on Tuesday bid farewell to Supreme Court judge Justice Aniruddha Bose on his retirement from the top court. After a career as a practising advocate, Justice Bose was elevated as a Permanent Judge in the Calcutta High Court in 2004. On August 11th, 2018, Justice Bose took oath as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. He was elevated as Judge of the Supreme Court on May 24th, 2019. His last working day in the Supreme Court will be April 10, 2024. Chief Justice of India Dr DY Chandrachud bid a special farewell to Justice Bose by speaking in Bengali for a part of his address.   • This man knows how to touch the hearts of millions. Not only in India but outside India as well. When he was in Bangaluru he gave speech in Kannada, when in West Bengal he gave speech in Bengali. He is fighting for the rights of common citizens without wavering on his morality. So much love and respect for him. More power to him. A living and breathing legend.

  • Exceptional farewell speech from the highly erudite Hon'ble CJI. The speech was a lesson in brevity coupled with admiration and respect for a retiring brother judge. This is the kind of speech we expect from a CJI and Chandrachud hasn't failed to deliver. I would just point out one blooper in the entire speech. It is 'Shree Shree Ramakrishna Kathamrita' and not 'Shree Shree Ramakrishna Kathamitra'. The difference is obvious to those who know Bangla or Hindi. A thousand claps for CJI Chandrachud for such a wonderful farewell speech.
