  • So about the kdss what the solid-axle Land Rover Discovery 2 has is called Ace. It is a hydraulic pump it is always on and whenever you go around a turn the accelerometer can feel before bodylean happens and that pump stiffens up a little hydraulic ram built into the sway bar link but when you put it in low range it disengages completely and that Ram has complete free play to give 0 sway bar activity for articulation. Land Rover changed into something less capable than the old ones they are just more luxurious and handle better on the street. The newer is better isn't always the case as far as just exclusively referring to Offroad

      @michaelkelly4708@michaelkelly47088 ай бұрын
  • Also, you should have been in Mud 'n Ruts on all of that stuff and turned off DSC. Were you even in 4-Lo in the LR3? One more thing: HDC works in all gears and in Neutral. Next time you have to bail on a hill climb, try it out! You didn't use it on that last descent either. Why not? Not trying to be provocative here but if you knew how to set up the LR3 better and drive it as it should be, it would wheel circles around that GX.

    @osubeef@osubeef Жыл бұрын
    • I was in 4lo as I said in the video. Hill descent control turned on during that descent and locked it up, which I didn’t appreciate. I’ve never been a fan of it in any of the multiple vehicles and platforms I’ve wheeled, and much prefer engine braking for the most part. I turned it off for every other descent that day, I just forgot that time. It honestly sounds like you haven’t wheeled a GX460. I’m not saying the LR3 isn’t amazingly capable, but having experience with lots of vehicles, I can confirm that GXs are amazingly capable as well, if you know how to use A-trac.

      @fj_matt@fj_matt Жыл бұрын
    • @@fj_matt HDC shouldn't lock up the brakes. It annoys me too, but it has advantages such as acting as a "torque arrestor" in big moguls on a downhill, and also for the aforementioned hill climb failure. I've never wheeled a GX, but a close friend of mine takes his GX470 out with us all the time. I feel that the LR3 has greater wheel travel, not sure what was going on in your climb...maybe two different lines...and the Crawl Ratio on the LR3 is way better. Toyotas are known for lurching. I've dominated FJs, too though, so there's that.

      @osubeef@osubeef Жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, I don’t really know why it was locking it up in the mud, but it did it earlier too. Maybe it was just too slippery with the winter tires. I’d say that the 460 felt more controlled and capable than the 470 I’ve wheeled in the past. What was helping this GX with wheel travel was the KDSS system. I could for sure feel it had more wheel travel, but I can’t tell you the exact specifics.

      @fj_matt@fj_matt Жыл бұрын
    • @@fj_matt I've never found statistics on 4Runner or GX wheel travel. When you were using HDC, was your foot on the brake pedal or off?

The best one is the one you can get the best deal on. I own an LR3, but would take a GX or FJ too given a good deal. Just get out there and explore! • @@michatrejgis2188 the LR is much nicer inside. Nice place to be while waiting for the tow truck.

  • Landrovers are complete garbage. They spend most of their life in the garage getting things repaired or replaced.
