KAMBULA PRIDE CHRONICLES - The Lost Queens

2023 ж. 31 Шіл.
6 115 Рет қаралды

At the beginning of March 2023, rangers reported the death of 3 lionesses. Two of them were found on MalaMala, two days apart, and the third Lioness had been found in Ukumbe two weeks earlier.
Sadly, these lionesses turned out to be from the Ntsevu/Kambula pride.
This video puts a timeline on the tragic events, summarizing what is known so far and clearing up who is actually missing from the pride.
UPDATE Aug 15, 2023 : K9 was seen alive and well with 2 cubs. That means of the Young Kambula lionesses only K11 is missing, presumed dead.

  • You did it again!!!! Finally someone to not only dedicate a video to the magnificent Netsvu/Kambulas and to demystify what happened to all Kambula lionesses and kidz but the journey these often nameless leo heroines undertake to protect the leo kidz of the future every hour of the day, every day of the week, every week of the month, and every month of every year of their existence and every decision they make. I think at least one of them was killed by the PC males. The one Kambula sister made the best decision staying with her brothers - wish the Kambula 2 with her subadult daughters found and stayed with the four Kambula breakaway boys and their sister. All who keep questioning why the one Kambula warrior princes is still with her brothers and questioning as though it is something unhealthy instead of how smart it was and is can find a clear answer in this video. People do not realize the many lionesses that die that need to be replaced for the pride to stay strong for future generations and all it is owed to the lionesses who choose to fight or leave or distract and all for the beat of the future of the pride never for themselves. My outmost admiration and respect to them!

    • The only thing bad about the sister being with the brothers is inbreeding. That is no good either. The females definitely give it their all to keep their offspring. We have saw them risk their lives for them and lose and some win. Their lives are so darn unpredictable. That's why I worry about their numbers being low and and they have to go thru just to survive every day. That is why each and every lion and leopard and cheetah are so important. When people poison them and snare them and poach them it makes me want to ask what gives them that right? It's sad but can be just as beautiful!!

      @buffiesilver@buffiesilver9 ай бұрын
    • I see not need to worry about inbreeding- The whole point is that she is too young to mate. Once she can mate, then she will leave but by then because she can mate she will be a lot safer as other male lions she encounters will be less likely to kill her.

  • These six beautiful lionesses deserve a tribute.I remember their were too many mouths to feed so they ventured on their own but stayed hidden for quite some time.They were very close to each other.I am not knocking the Natwhikas but these girls were doing very well under the protection of the last two Birminghams.They knew them like a book and being a big pride they still had better protection.I find it sad two out of the six are dead.They are only 10 years old.Another problem now being such a big extended pride with all these cubs they need to split.I think that is why the four daughters of Kinkytail and Mr.T abandon their pride way too many to hunt and the Manjelines too were too weak and old to hunt or protect.Everyone of these six beautiful girls are true Queens.

    • Thank you for the video. I just want to make sure. Based on your video there are 3 daughters of the 6 Kambula daughters, and all 4 remaining older Kambula lionesses are back in with the pride they are all together, And the lionesses that had split are back but lost all of their young cubs attempting to get back into the pride? Then the youngest sub adult lioness is with her brothers? Making it 4 surviving Birmingham’s daughters? It was getting exciting Kambula number 4 had for male cubs. Hopefully their rest of their cubs make it.

    • Thankyou for the video. I think I like many had been wanting to see an update of the Kambulas prides. I had a question what do you think happened to Kambula number 4 ? The lioness that had 5 males cubs? I just find it strange how the lioness with the 5 male cubs disappeared already in the pride; could these lionesses that had died could they had been injuries by their own sisters or their own pride males lions? I know they are sisters, but they are all trying to survive with cubs and their cubs sub adults at the time that were still alive? Could there have been jealousy and could the pride had been getting too big and there was internal fights ? Maybe they were not trying to hurt each other but maybe they injured each other in a fight to protect their cubs or to eat where there is a lot of lionesses. There would of been a split but I think their sisters that were trying to come back saw their sisters in a better situation and maybe the lioness that were still in the pride with cubs didn’t like it. What do you think? Do you think the lionesses diying was from internal fights between them their own sisters lionesses with cubs from the new males vs lionesses coming back with sub adults from the Birmingham’s? I know in the video maybe one was said that one sub adult was most likely killed by males lions; could have had been their own pride male lions? Could their have been a fight where the lionesse were fighting each other and maybe the males lions were involved and from other videos I’ve seen on lions they came to control the situation probably fighting and or attacking the sub adult lioness the other lioness were attacking, And maybe the sub adult and or her mother and an aunt were trying to defend her also injurying Gore. What do you think happened? I just think there is too many deaths in the pride, but that is what happens when males lions take over, but I think maybe when their sisters that split trying to come back with their sub adults it cause the lionesses to be protective and competition got high with many lionesses. Kambula number 4 with 5 cubs maybe got defensive and something happened, but it is confusing seeing the pride grow split, have new cubs, and they tried coming back and lionesses dying.

  • Thank you for this clarification, of a wonderful Pride & their struggle for survival. So hard to accept so sad losses, yet amazin so many have come through it. Still a Pride with a proud name, hope for the future that some security comes for them. Often sadly not the case clearly in the Lion World. I am very concerned, when I see such huge packs of Hyenas, attacking Lions. Their large numbers, put extra strain on the Lions, but I guess, it's a cycle wgich will affect them too at some point. Bless these Queens, I hope in the future for health & longevity 👏🤗🫶☘️

  • Also, because so many lionesses get killed during take overs, prides who give birth to lots of male lions (like Sparta, Tsalala, etc… and then invest to successfully raise them into adulthood against all odds, once these boys leave (whether they survive or not) leave the pride left with only one or two lionesses and that is how the prides face extinction. The guides don’t realize that they are quite off when they describe the survival of the fittest and always incorrectly use language that the male lions wish to make pass their own genes and legacy. In the evolutionary theorem, the term fittest is very much specific to producing viable offspring and term viable is specific to organism being able to rare their own young and the young are not “viable” by definition until they grow of age to be able to mate to produce offspring of its own. So for leo population or any species to grow and diversify they need to stay with the pride until they are able to mate which in lions is 4.5 and up - another misnomer the guides constantly and others reiterate expectation that boys should leave at 2 or 3 and before age 4.5 or that girls won’t be killed until they are that age. This is incorrect- for example hem to have greatest chance of survival to be fit they should stay with their native pride right up until they can mate. It also gives them time to learn to become proficient hunters and build strength. The reason there were so many lions decades ago is because more territory gave prides greater chance to stay together to be able to move around to protect the young till this age. The male lions should reign over the pride for minimum 4.5 years after they come into prime to give their young greatest chance to survive and become viable offsprings themselves but guides give them 2 or 3 years - Oxford researchers are worst - they think lions can be trophy hunted after 6 because by then moat sired some offspring ( all of these educations are wrong and will contribute to further extinction of these species). Now with small territory it is hard for prides and young lions to hide and be under the radar while prides get over taken earlier and many females during the takeover. The males don’t care about producing offspring as they care to mate as often as possible and they frequently abandon the prides looking for more mating opportunities (especially bigger coalitions) leaving lionesses usually to do protecting and raising young in smaller territories now where they easily stumble upon other males and other prides which leads to further faster losses. Add poaching, contamination etc that humans bring in and that part of conservation is largely unsuccessful- the lions are now vulnerable. The question what comes first, the chicken or egg becomes pretty easy to answer once all lionesses are gone yet they are in fact the primary not only the caregiver but also the protector.

    @luvmyaussie9561@luvmyaussie95619 ай бұрын
    • Unless conservationist don’t understand this and change their interventions and policies or lack there off …, all their efforts with smidgen of resources which are not appropriately allocated will continue to lead to decline of the species and population and the need for artificial programs and introduction of species in unfamiliar territory (which are often not success-full) instead of protecting lionesses who are native and already there.

      @luvmyaussie9561@luvmyaussie95619 ай бұрын
    • You get it. You know 1 out of eight males will reach adulthood. Now we have coalitions of 7 even 8 males. They are running out of space and time for them quickly too. It's just something we can't get wrong with the balance of everything. If we get it wrong we will not have the time and numbers in our favor.

I was seeing the family tree it is interesting. Maybe the lone lionesses that is with their brothers does not leave with them into Kruger, and but can maybe make a partnership with the Tsalala lioness.

I wish I had land to give to all these lions, leopards, and especially cheetahs. I really thought if the cubs were two years old and especially female that the male lions wouldn't kill them. The Kambula pride I think are in a similar situation that the Birmingham’s were in at one point when they were with the Kambula pride. If I remember the Birmingham’s were a bit older, with one of their brothers injured when they were 3. These males lions are the best right now I think in their peak and sure of themselves. I do hope their cubs survive for them and their brothers.
