this is a really good laptop but got to be careful because some models are missing that extra expandable storage port on the motherboard.
Holy crap that walkthrough at @6:30 was extremely helpful. I got an SSD for free and could not figure out why it wouldn't show up. It was in the task manager but got no signal to it. I found the SSD digging through the computer one night, so I knew it was working but I was missing something. Now I have an extra 466 gigs to shuffle games to.
I recommend a video on that section alone
Hey Acer, imagine thinking 4 gigs is enough in 2022! its in an era, where even most uses 16 gigs of ram, and these cheaper should come with 8 gigs atleast!
I used to have this exact model, though I had an issue where there would be coil whine when the backlight on the keyboard was off, and the audio jack failed. Really great, and the Linux support is actually almost perfect.

For the price, find a Lenovo IdeaPad with a core i3 or i5. I got the IdeaPad with the 1115g4 i3. Added a 500gb SSD to replace the 1tb mechanical it came with. Also added an M.2 NVME to the board as the OS drive. Also added 16gb 2666mhz Ram to the computer with the solder 4gb. I did all of this for less than $500. Runs circles around similar priced setups.
I have had this laptop for a while now! It is a fantastic laptop and can deal with some light games, however it has started to slow down a bit for me unfortunately, so I just use it for college now! However when I first initially got it, it was sooo fast! And a great price 😊
Might need a malware or registry cleaning. Maybe check the resource monitor when running to see if anything seems off. If you really wanted to, you could speed it up alot by installing new os. 🙃

They are all crap lol. In general I wouldnt spend less than 600 or 700 on a laptop. If you get a piece of crap for 250 bucks then you'll be looking to replace it soon

The thing I found funny is that my Acer spin 1 ran Fortnite at 60 fps usually didn’t drop below 50 fps (this was on low graphics and even on Hight graphics still ran at a steady 30 fps) i only stopped using it bc it ran out of storage so yea but I wouldn’t recommend getting the Acer spin 1 for gaming
I got the Acer Aspire 5, i-5 with Iris Graphics. ($450.00 on sale, but not from Amazon) It came with a 512 GB (Gen 3) Intel M2NVME drive and 8 GB of RAM. (4 GB on the board and 4 GB in the only RAM slot.) I immediately installed a 1 TB Crucial SATA SSD and plugged in an 8 GB RAM so-dimm for 12 GB Total. Wondering if I should install a 16 GB so-dimm for 20 GB total RAM. I do more browsing and blogging than gaming, so this laptop "fills the bill." Good review Gents. I am new to trying to understand computer specs. I am looking at getting this laptop in a week or two with the 5500U and AMD Radeon graphics. I will be immediately adding at least 8gb more ram but my question is, will this handle a game like SWTOR? It's an MMORPG if you aren't familiar with it. Any help would be appreciated. That will probably be my only game on the laptop

Why not try a 16 gig dim to bring it up to 20 because that so-dimm slot might go up to 16 gigs given the platform and potential chipsets. So give it a try...

I had this laptop for 6 months and the hinges started breaking so now I can’t close it
I recently bought one of the most expensive varient of this which comes w 8gb default, a Ryzen 5 5500u and a rx 640. I'd say it's worth it but i'd r recommend buying the mx350 one for a couple bucks more. overall its worth it but the battery time is about 2.5 to 4 hour-Ish under load but just for some light use its pretty good.

I Got the ryzen 3 5300u version, only has one ram slot so added a 16gb ram stick so it runs dual channel flex RAM mode. because 4gb is soldered on to the motherboard, 4(soldered)+4 with the remaining 12ram running single channel. My only negative smh SOME OF THE MODELS HAVE TWO RAM SLOTS. If I could go back id try to find the other version with TWO ram slots to get full dual channel mode 8x2. Also added a 250gb ssd that i pulled out of my old laptop for light game storage, worth it at $300 👍🏾. Bit of advice If you going cheap like this please get the ryzen acer versions 3/5/7 their integrated graphics shit all over intel for gaming without a gpu. Intel shines with a gpu paired to it

Considering Windows bloatware, 4 GB RAM is rather painful to use even in office tasks, if you want to have browser open while typing something in Word, and having mail client and let's say Skype running. Therefore, always check before buying laptop is it upgradable .
I set absolutely nothing to open on Windows startup and I'm still sat at over 3gb out of the total 16gb in my pc. In my case I'm over 4gb just with a single chrome tab open.

bro that might be because of over heat...give some elevation to allow airflow....or its adjusted to reduce performance while plugged in by using the power plan....create a custom powerplan with alll performance maxxed out or use ultimate performance

You guys should’ve used a 4gb stick for 8gbs even though it’s smaller this would equate to unified memory. The processor would be able to split workloads faster between equal capcitys of ram which would mean better performance than an 8gb stick in a 12gb config. Although this is only when it comes to games and rendering. As with normal multi tasking 12gb config with more ram would be better than 8gb. But obviously we’re testing games here so unified memory so the lower ram would be better. An example of this is the ps5 vs Xbox series X the ps5 has unified memory while the Xbox doesn’t and although the Xbox has a roughly 2 teraflops more power in game tests the ps5 has been performing anywhere from 5% to 30% better due to the ps5 having unified memory and the Xbox not even though the Xbox has a stronger gpu.

true i have a 2400g with 2x 8gb 3200mhz ram and it stutters bad at times and fps go from 35fps to 85fps in fortnite at 1360x768 low 100% scale in performance mode using the latest apu driver but 1360x768 low 100% scale in dx11 im getting 58fps - 125fps stays around 65-75 no stutters lags or anything runs perfect may drop a bit below 58fps but that is only when i jump out of the bus once i land it runs great

I purchased a regular Acer laptop for school, and I had it for less than one year and I went to push the button to power up the laptop and the button collapsed inside the computer! I will never purchase another acer.

Well generation matters and considering that 3rd gen Ryzen apus are actually a bit more aged or more if I'm not correct, the one 10th gen really would underperform if compared to an equal with equal generational rights . Plus apus in laptops beats uhd by a margin even xiris cannot rival
