Born and raised in a Durham coal mining town, her father said 'there is nothing for you here'. But from there to the White House and becoming one of the key figures behind the West's strategy towards Putin, hers is a remarkable journey. No one in reality knows Putin that is what makes him dangerous an unknown quantity . if you watch most of the film work on Trump what she has failed to notice is he is a man of many parts, one being he will talk to anyone on their level this is the salesman in him he knows you catch more flies with sugar than vinegar , she does not grasp this mentality being an educated stupid academic thinking they are experts

So uninformed and willfully blind she doesn't even realize this "Putin" has NOT come out of KBG. No chance it is same man, any more that "Biden" is Biden. Goodness sakes. So very flawed and quite surely well paid. If I'm right she'll soon be asking herself, "Was it worth it."

    • I do understand what you are saying. That first meeting between George W Bush and Vladimir Vladimirovič Putin is something that also "put me on alert", because the Republicans had traditionally been such "hawks" about Russia (and the Soviet Union before). The obvious interference of public opinion and social media advertising by Russia leading up to Trump's election showed me that Putin would no longer be restrained or restricted in anything or in any way. I knew as soon as there was satellite "proof" that Putin was moving military forces close to Ukraine that he was going to invade. Now I do worry about the upcoming election, because I can see the bots and disinformation campaigns ramping up. It is going to be rough times ahead, man. We have to find ways to get voters better informed and out to vote. We have to get "foreign influence"(s), and the corruption of money out of our politics. We have to stop letting ourselves be divided against each other, if we want any kind of "better future". It is not going to be easy, but we should not let these various "workers of inequality" (from Tony Bourdain) bring us down. The way to get ahead for a better tomorrow is to remember that our "democratic system" relies on us to be involved and do the work. And we do have the opportunity to educate ourselves for the work we should do to help our country remain strong and independent from these destructive influences (I see you, Iran and China too) by listening to ; people like Fiona Hill, Stephen Kotkin, Anne Applebaum, some of the Universities that offer lectures and "courses", and other information or historical programs, most of it all available right here on YT. (sorry about the lengthy response. "That was my TedTalk, thanks for coming" lol)

  • Thank you Fiona Hill for you interesting insight into the Trump Putin relationship and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Also, I don’t think most Americans realize that there was and perhaps still is a European backlash against the US in the post-Trump era. Can’t really blame Europe for that. I hope America can eventually put things back the way they were with our European partners and perhaps even make things better.

  • I agree with Fiona Hill that the rush to NATO membership among East European states, although it has taken place in more than one stage, is motivated by the need for security against what was once a potential and is now a very real threat of resurgent Russian imperialism. The history of Russian incursions into Eastern and even Central Europe is long and painful. I think it's quite silly to portray American imperialism as the prime reason for NATO expansion, notwithstanding a certain arrogance in American posturing post-1991. I agree basically with the Ustrialov's' theory, now 100 years old, that the Soviet regime, despite its distinctive ideological and administrative characteristics, was simply another manifestation of the Russian Imperial State. In fact it retained quite a strong orientation toward the West, a legacy of Tsar Peter The Great, right up to its demise in 1991, despite attempts to sow regime change worldwide. But all the Western rwgimes used to do more or less the same thing. What is different, bizarre, and n my view profoundly wrong in Putin's geopolitical strategy is his 'unlimited partnership' with Xi Jinping's China. Because China is far the stronger nation both economically and demographically, I think Putin has reasoned his way into a trap from which he will not be able to escape. .The vanity of old kings whose authority has gone unchallenged, who would not listen to good counsel, is proverbial. neither Putin nor Trump are exceptions to this rule. t is instructive to read the Old Testament accounts in Kings and Chronicles. (Psalm 49:20) 'Man in his pomp, yet without understanding, is like the beasts that perish.'

  • Thank you Dr Hill. Trying to use Hilter's playbook (although stumbling over it because he underestimated Ukraine), Putin started WW III by invading Ukraine (actually in 2014 when it invaded Crimea). The US with its dithering, hand-wringing on one side (and a lot of that in Europe too), and overt support on the other side, is allowing Putin to do it. The roughly 80 years of peace in most of Europe (the first time in centuries) with the various efforts to unify (e.g., the EU and NATO) has ended, largely through complacency. Putin saw it and walked right in. Recall Dugin's infamous quip that Russia has the right even the "obligation" to control all of Europe "from Dublin to Vladivostok" to rid all of Eurasia from "Western secular decadence." Putin has started WW III. Where will we stop it?

Trump didn't indulge in "golden showers" and kompromat about sex and hookers wouldn't hurt Trump even if that rumor was true. He paid those girls to pee on the bed that Obama had slept in, in the presidential suite, to which Trump wasn't officially invited. That's how much he hates Obama and how petty and childish the man is. He wanted to ruin something he imagined Obama felt pride about, and yes, it is mainly due to Obama being black.

  • Start with the recognition that Trump has been broke since the mid 80’s. He’s been operating on OPM since that time when he found he was not fungible to conventional banks. Private placement moved in with its own version of double entry accounting. At this point, we have no idea of what web of unrecorded debt, subordinated limited partner equities, and cross collateralization is now operative. It would be fair to suggest that those OPM sources have no intention of surrendering those funds to Trump’s legal judgements. Busted
