Acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson has released an exclusive sneak peek of his upcoming documentary “The Beatles: Get Back” for fans everywhere to enjoy. The 5-minute special look is available to fans worldwide on TheBeatles.com and streaming on Disney+.
Jackson said, “We wanted to give the fans of The Beatles all over the world a holiday treat, so we put together this five-minute sneak peek at our upcoming theatrical film ‘The Beatles: Get Back.’ We hope it will bring a smile to everyone’s faces and some much-needed joy at this difficult time.”
Acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson’s “The Beatles: Get Back” is a unique cinematic experience that takes audiences back in time to The Beatles’ intimate recording sessions during a pivotal moment in music history. The film showcases the warmth, camaraderie and creative genius that defined the legacy of the iconic foursome. Shot in January 1969 and compiled from over 60 hours of unseen footage (filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg) and more than 150 hours of unheard audio, all of which has been brilliantly restored, “The Beatles: Get Back” is the story of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as they plan their first live show in over two years and charts the writing and rehearsing of 14 new songs, originally intended for release on an accompanying live album. The film features - for the first time in its entirety - The Beatles' last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band’s final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be.
An exciting new collaboration between The Beatles and three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “They Shall Not Grow Old”) presented by The Walt Disney Studios in association with Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Productions Ltd., “The Beatles: Get Back” is directed by Jackson, produced by Jackson, Clare Olssen (“They Shall Not Grow Old”) and Jonathan Clyde (“Eight Days A Week”), with Ken Kamins (“The Hobbit” trilogy) and Apple Corps’ Jeff Jones (“Eight Days A Week”) serving as executive producers. Jabez Olssen (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) serves as the film’s editor, and the music is mixed by Giles Martin (“Rocketman”) and Sam Okell (“Yesterday”).
“The Beatles: Get Back” will open in U.S. theaters on August 27, 2021.

    • The world will never see the whole 56 hours because in there is some quite controversial stuff, they sing some songs that would be taken out of context as racist today, and they have some quite lurid locker room talk about women etc. It wouldn't be good for the Beatles brand if this got out.

When the movie Let It Be that was released to theaters, my friends and I walked out because it was such a downer with all the arguing and the glum faces. It just was not a fun movie. But I'm champing at the bit, and foaming at the mouth to see all this new footage when it's released, hopefully sooner rather than later!!

    • It annoys me to think that with all of the video footage, Let it Be only focused on all of the bad. What a terrible thing for people to have believed that's how things were all these years. I don't doubt that there were very bad times, but there was always good, too.

  • Looks as though Peter Jackson’s hit the jackpot with this! There’s millions of Beatle fans who will be overwhelmed by it all, I’m sure. What makes me happy, but also brings tears to my eyes, is the fact that they were, all four of them, really happy! I know the original stuff was all dark and gloomy in places, but that’s life too. When you see them on the roof - that really shows how bonded they were. Happy, funny, knowing it’ll be over, yet it can’t be helped, it’s time to shake on it, it’s been fun! It will be fantastic to get back where we once belonged...🥲🙏😎

  • I was 10 years of age and my mind was awoken to these mere boys from Liverpool sharing their music with the world. I made my first electric guitar, somehow converted a radio into an amp and taught myself how to play (albeit & badly). My world was perfect however not all things stay the same. I'm now 69 and this sneak peek has taken me back to those perfect days where it seemed the world came together as one. So looking forward to the movie. Thank you for this moment again on the long and winding road.

You have brought out the brilliance---the genius, the hard work behind the scenes......the fun, the tragic sadness we have lost. This effort of yours today is brilliant ....Thank You......I have tears in my eyes....im a 64 year old banker...a New Yorker.....and the Beatles ....again...are the greatest artistic force in our lifetimes.

I know Jackson will make an amazing doc out of those 56 hours, but I sure hope we get to see more than 1-2 hours of the unreleased footage.

  • Thank you. I really needed that 5 minutes of Beatles joy after this year. The Let It Be sessions have always been "reported" as a nasty and argumentative. There was clearly joy and friendship amongst a band of brothers after so many years. There may have been tension but when they played together they still were happy.
