  • I'm a native English speaker and I subscribed after watching your cockney accent video, but I enjoy these videos too just because you're funny and entertaining and they make me think a bit more about grammar and usage in ways I never had before. Like I never really thought about how you get on a bus, but you get in a car. I'm reading a book at the moment that you might enjoy, it's called Bad English: a History of Linguistic Aggravation, by Ammon Shea. It's all about the supposed rules of English that mostly people just made up in the 18th or 19th century and now we think of them as canon, even though they've been in common (mis) use for centuries. Stuff like ending sentences with prepositions or using the word "aggravate" in the sense of "to annoy", which the author cleverly does in the title. It's a fun read (also "fun" supposedly can't be used as an adjective).
