10 Autistic Behaviors : No Music Edition
Ever wondered how a simple day feels when the world’s volume is turned way up? Dive in with me as we explore not just the clinical descriptions of autism, but the real, raw, personal side of it all based on my experiences as someone on the spectrum. For a little background, I have both ADHD and autism, and my diagnosis came quite late in life. Now I'm here to give some insight to help you understand some behaviors that you might see when interacting with autistic people in your life.
From the whirlwind of sensory overloads to the solace found in routines, and yes, even those unexpected quirks that sometimes make my day or throw a wrench in the works. We're diving deep!
*NOTE: This is the same awesome video as "10 Behaviors of People with Autism" - without the background music, by popular demand. Enjoy! (If you want the version with background music, here it is: • 10 Behaviors of People... )

No music in videos is paradise.
Then the commercial hits.
Yes
I know I already watched the original version, but I wanted to show support for the no music version. I do prefer your no music videos. Thanks.
Thanks for the support! We're still working on getting them uploaded for the others gradually, based on the feedback
@@ChrisandDebbyFeel free to delete all the pings and bings, too 🙏🏻
feel free to get rid of moving things on the screen as well please please please
I have often heard that autistic people are bothered by too much background noise and music in videos. I thought: not me now I see this video and find it incredibly relaxing. Maybe I was wrong. 😅 Thank you
Most rear view mirrors allow you to flip them up into a sort of sunglasses mode. Very helpful for driving at night and not getting blinded by headlights behind you
i made a list of my sensory triggers and its 3 typed pages and still going. my new goal in life is to keep myself as comfortable as possible. this video is comic genius.
Also for your Australian birds playlist, definitely check out Australian magpies and pied butcher birds. Such a gorgeous distinctive warbling song
I also prefer no music version. But enjoying your videos. Thanks
More on the way! Thanks for the feedback
First of all, thank you for the no music thing. It takes so much mental energy to listen to words and background music. Also, I checked out those bose headphones and loved them! So, husband got me a pair for Christmas. 😊 game changer for sure!
What a great gift from your husband! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. And glad you appreciate the No music versions - there are more on the way!
Thanks for releasing these no-music versions. 👍🏻
I so appreciate your honesty! It goes a long way in helping us further understand what it can be like to have autism.
language is really sticking in my mind right now. i couldn't even tell you how many times I've left a situation questioning whether or not i read between the lines when i should've or gone on with my day slowly realizing these a**holes were being complete d*cks to my face and left the situation most likely thinking this chick is slow, but ive just gotten to the point where I'm like sure, call me dumb- if you can admit you don't have the b*lls to say what you mean to my face. A lot of times I've pegged it to being naive or have had other people tell me I am. Also, the thought that i constantly and uncontrollably tend to make others uncomfortable, it used to put me in really dark place mentally. Well, i gotta admit it still does. I cant seem to keep it from wearing me down- the idea that somethings wrong with me because of it but i also think its really messed up how stigma and shame, and the exhaustion of having to worry about everyone else and how they feel when im internally going through a lot already.. how that can bring me to such a dark place speaks to how messed up society has dealt with mental health up to this point. Its really only is an issue though when it comes to people i actually give a crap about. For the most part I stopped caring what anyone else thought a long time ago, i had to or I dont think I couldve handled the emotional weight iof it all.. i wouldn't be here most likely if I cared what most people thought of me. Eye contact, way too much on my anxiety for me to even bother. Wont do it. If it makes some uncomfortable, oh well.
I hate that dark place. ❤
What a relief! Music was killing me! Thanks!
😂😂 I gotcha!!
Yeah!
You might try tweaking your equalizer settings on videos (with music) that have that issue. I found some headphones have a voice preset which emphasizes that channel and range. Otherwise, try different settings in your device's equalizer. 😊
I have autism and so can you😂😂😂😂 awesome💖 I have described myself as going into "shut down" mode and now I think I'm just having meltdowns or at least periods of deescalating the yucky feeling that builds up when I do "normal" for too long. I'm waiting on testing. But your videos make me feel so much better about myself. It's so frustrating not understand why I seem to struggle with things that *should be easy*
So much resonates with many of your videos! The hating sudden things, yet not being able to deal with planning stuff too far ahead? !!! One thing I want to ask is if you have a podcast no disrespect at all here, as we are all different and i love your content, but I can't handle the special effects and all the sounds and images and noises that pop up, they are clever and I am sure many appreciate them, so yeah I wondered if you have a podcast as I like listening to what you and Debby say.
All of what you say goes into my neck of the woods. Late diagnosticated autistic female of 45 with 2 kiddos also autistic.
I love to read house plan books. I, also, love graph paper, a "good" pencil and a gummy eraser. I have notebooks everywhere full of floor plans and garden designs. It is so calming to me. It seems as if we were cut from the same tree! We have an unusual amount of quirks in common. Thank you for sharing! I am a new subscriber and am really enjoying your content! Way to represent! I look forward to future videos you and your wife put out. Take care!😀
Graph paper...yum.... I myself am obsessed with all office supplies, especially notebooks (dotted and grid) and pens.
“I have Austrian… and so can you!” 🤣🤣🤣 too funny
*Aurocorrect is probably funnier than what I typed. 🤣😬
I didn't realize that word play was an autism thing. 😂 My favourite word for some reason is 'pants' and I will giggle like a ninny if I attach it to other words like 'man-pants' or 'cat-pants' - ludicrous things like that. I also really like words like 'influenza' that are sort of melodic - 'influenza' is my favourite word after 'pants.' Just word it out: "in-floo-ehn-zah" - it's insanely satisfying to me for some reason. It's happiness.😂❤
Totally appreciate this. Thank you.
First thing I do when I get in any car is move the rearview mirror so it’s facing the roof lining. As a truck driver you don’t have that mirror, so it’s actually unnecessary. And OMG water on face or on/in ears🤮
Just found your channel, and really enjoying your videos!
i use the calendar in my phone, and every morning i have to look and see what's there, and look a week out because i have to know these things are coming up and i have to know at least a day in advance. If i don't, i get very anxious.
My stepmom said that when my twin and I were little, while talking a friend of hers, she told the friend that we walked on our toes and still do it to this day. I recalled the time I was at an appointment for something, and this guy asked me if I move or do something with my hands. I actually do open and close my hands, flick my fingers, etc, minus flapping them, but I said no to him but I should've told him yes instead. I don't know. I just thought I had to do all the time, and I don't think I do it a lot from my autism experiences.
R u hyperflexible? I read there is a connection to autism & connective tissue issues (ahlers-danlos?)
I love how open and honest you are about your experiences! I can relate so much to you. Going to watch a lot of your other videos now. So glad I found your channel!!
That’s awesome!! I really hope you like my other videos! 🥰🥰
😆😆😆 loved the start of your vid !!!!
i was eating chili when you said you woke up and shit your bed
omg 😮😂😂 ew
If someone who has an accent says something really cool sounding I want to repeat it really badly but of course I don't. I want to see if I can replicate it.
echolalia
Me, too. When I visited my cousin in Okla, I warned her I would prob start talking with a southern twang like her & that it wasn't gonna be on purpose to mock her but that I was naturally inclined to do so. It didn't take long & I also picked up some of the lingo like sack instead of bag & coke for all sodas. It's fun to mimic accents from ppl around the world, tho I have only shared the experience with a few ppl that agreed over the course of 30yrs. A fun one- "Well, Ello, darlinngg.. Perhaps, we could get a spot of tea & some crumpets.. " We didn't "carry on" for long but I secretly want to do so in a restaurant but am afraid of the expected negative responses I would receive. 😂
The diarrhea is awful, especially when you work in a small office. ❤
I love that your wife recorded conversations 😂
I call those ‘sneak attacks’. She doesn’t do it much anymore, but she did it before because I left her little choice. It’s really hard to argue with your own words.😂😂
Construction work sets my off as well. I can't stand if to many things change. It will cause panic attacks.
Yes hair pulling when i get stressed out lol
The word I really like is 'fancy'. I use it all the time and sing it to myself. I also have echolalia which by now is more internal so I sometimes get words or phrases as earworms like other people have with music and my brain is constantly repeating said word or phrase. I never thought that was strange till I told someone about it and found out that not everybody has that.
I LOVE THE SHY THING !!!!! 😁
About estimuli, I always wonder how police officers can stay close to the lights and noices it seems so annoying to me.
The thing about the plates I know what you mean !
Chris, please wear your hair like a unicorn for us.🦄
Keep an eye out - it makes an appearance here and there 😆
Hey, wanted to let you know that you can see the amazing antennae make an appearance here 😂: kzhead.info/sun/rNSehZpujJd3kqM/bejne.htmlsi=W6hfGRjDg5J2EWgj Feel free to let us know your fashion rating of this on a scale from 1-10, with 1 being "never again" and 10 being that you have adopted this new look yourself 😁
I hate LED lights! Or not knowing where noise is coming from!
What is the brand of your hoodie in this video? It looks very comfy.
I am the same as you.
I have the twirling of hair thing, i can end up with small buns all over, sometimes without noticing until im partway through..
😊
“I have autism… and so can you.” 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
You are SHYYYYYY 😅 ❤❤❤
Love it without music. BTW, is seems some of what you said is more ADHD than Autistic. For example, the part about time blindness. Please keep up the good work...
I think I have the same shirt, except beige.
You clearly have great taste!
Poor Debby.
😂🤣😂 You don’t have to worry about her. She’s hot!!
The shark video is fake btw :3
I’m being serious I like the “F” word
