Matthew McConaugheys renaissance or the "McConaissance" is one of my favorites instances of the world (re)discovering the brilliance of an actor. I recently had great pleasure in reading his McConaughey's memoir Greenlights. In this video I explore Matthew McConaughey's career, personal life and most of all the McConaissance where he delivered brilliant acting performances in the Wolf of Wallstreet, Dallas Buyers Club, True Detective and Interstellar.

  • The book is nothing like a typical memoir. It feels more like us going on the journey of life with him. He's honest about his mistakes and humble about his great successes. Cannot recommend it enough. 🚦

  • Read green lights in 2020 I think when it came out my mom recommended it and straight up helped me refocus on the things that matter. I wasn't going listen to this vid, but it's worth just like the book it's worth it.

  • Really enjoyed this video. Great job surating the multiple sources. I appreciated your key insights. The one that sticks with me strongest is his dad's words: don't half ask it. I also enjoy your virtue-vice videos, like the one on ambition. Indeed, hustle has its ditch on the other side too.

  • One o the dopest actors of all time and the roles he plays are fukn sick(sometimes literally like that dallas hiv movie or wutever it was called) I have not seen all his movies but i can guess safely that he killed every role. That space movie he did where he time traveled was extra dope and such a simple movie to boot but immersive and captivating and all the other synonymous adjectives that apply.

  • McConaughey annoyed me. Overtime, my respect for him grew. Now I admire his acting and life. I even wrote an essay about his struggles understanding the burning Bush in the Joe Rogan podcast. To his credit, he has never settled. He kept digging into the heart of the matter and his true calling. Yet he was practical and made the most of what was before him - ie the rom-coms.

  • Maybe I am a negativist or whatever but whenever I hear these kind of stories like "I went on a sabbatical and just lived my life and had fun" I always ask myself with what money? Keep in mind we are talking about a guy in early 20's having no job up until that point
