  • Alex Wagner is amazing, she's the kind of person I'd like to see in politics, not just as a journalist.

    • TheHehe1223 You got the best combo in my opinion. Too bad warren inst running. Sanders is also starting to lose media attention. He got some attention after announcing his run and after raising all that money (which none of it came from big money interests). But now, the media ignores him. I was watching the local news a couple of days ago and they were talking about all the presidential candidates. They went through all of them and talked about history and policy, except Bernie.

    • ***** At around the 44:00 minute mark of the show she actually said: "Isn't the whole point of free speech to not judge people based on what they're saying?" Which she went on to qualify (after interjections from both other guests and Maher) by saying: "You test your moral convictions by using the most repugnant examples, ...the Westboro Baptist Church has every right to be doing what the Westboro Baptist Church does." Where I can agree that in this instance she could have articulated her point more clearly, she did not say: "free speech means we can't judge other people's opinions." I would also agree that her appearance on the show was not flawless, there were other minor gaffs but all in all, I thought her effort was impressive for a first appearance.

    • ***** Your focusing in on this one line from her, while insisting that the subtle difference does not exist between what you take her words to mean and what she actually said, suggests to me that there are other factors involved in your developing a disdain for this woman. GOP political partisan entrenchment I would guess but feel free to clarify? Again, she qualified her words with the following within the same discussion which demonstrates that she does in fact know something about the 1st Amendment : "You test your moral convictions by using the most repugnant examples, ...the Westboro Baptist Church has every right to be doing what the Westboro Baptist Church does." Then of course there is the simple fact of how she makes her living as a TV political commentator and host. To suggest that a person doing that for a living knows nothing about the 1st Amendment is simply ludicrous.

I guess it's different if you get your predictions from an ancient book of Jewish fairy tales rather than any kind of scientific model.

  • A good example that some political pundits lack tact when it comes to discussions. Will Cain hit a wall in the discussion and went to the default denier talking points on "Climate Issues" and then took a time machine back to 1998 for the Monica Lewinsky scandal when he didn't have anything to defend this point with. I also find his assumption that taking preventative measures for something "100 years" down the line is just unsound. Yet the pundits on the right worry that their great-great-grand children will inherit the national debt, despite not being psychics able to see whether or not the debt will even be an issue for their offspring. So, They're willing to take measures to protect the pockets of their descendents, but not the environment they will have to inherit as well. Okay, solid reasoning? On a side note: Lincoln Chafee seems like a very sweet man, who has the best of intentions for his campaign, but the other candidates for president are going to eat him alive. He's too soft spoken and can't response quick off the cuff. There is no place for the meek in the race for the White House, sir. These folk are out for blood, nasty, and Looney Tunes loco. If you can't hang, you will end up thrown to the wayside.

    • How does that dehumanize them? What is wrong with questions or asking for evidence? Some have to seek on their own, and some may never become scientifically literate no matter how hard some one tries. This even with physically showing them experimental research they can try on their own. Also stereotypes positive and negative all humans are challenged not to follow based on assumptions alone. All people have the ability to fall for what one wants to believe rather than what facts exists and are knowable.

    • _The science is already decided on this subject._ Well then, so what is the solution to fix it? If it's decided then the scientists must have a plan ready to go to stop and reverse climate change. _The question was how we should maneuver them into the position of firing the first shot without allowing too much danger to ourselves."_ Wow, I should have realized by how quickly you call people retarded, that you were one of those people who thinks everything is a conspiracy.

      @RonaldStepp@RonaldStepp9 жыл бұрын
    • Ronald Stepp Who's talking about conspiracies? I'm talking about perspective. And the fact that the science is decided on a problem (that it's actually a real problem) doesn't mean that there's a solution. But we can start to limit CO2-emissions.

      @djoetma@djoetma9 жыл бұрын
    • Science doesn't work that way, it's actually the exact opposite of how science works. Science is ALWAYS open to being corrected or refined whether it is wrong or right. ps "perspective" doesn't mean you can say we instigated pearl harbor.

  • I saw somewhere that in the US the retrieval of water and delivery to consumers is extremely inefficient. For example they said it was something like 20-30% of all the water that is just straight up lost before it ever reaches consumers, where in Denmark it's between 1-5%. Seems like a pretty huge saving right there just setting some standards on retrieval and delivery

    @TomsWhip@TomsWhip9 жыл бұрын
    • Thomas Hagel Well you also use 4x as much water as Danes just in the household alone, so that's obviously something too. A small flush on your toilet is a huge one in Denmark that our newer toilets can't even do. And it's not like there's shit all over our toilets not getting washed clean. Same as shower heads and all the different appliances have saving functions. At some point you just kinda have to go; Well maybe you guys deserve to die of water shortage i guess

  • What's so wrong about deflating the football? It's not like the ball instantly inflates when the opposing team catches the ball, everybody is playing with the same slightly deflated ball.

    @extragirth64@extragirth649 жыл бұрын
    • Gavin Lynch But when a interception happens the other team is then playing with the deflated ball. They also have the advantage.

      @extragirth64@extragirth649 жыл бұрын
    • Gavin Lynch Then they are still playing with the same inflated ball after the change.

      @extragirth64@extragirth649 жыл бұрын
    • Gavin Lynch And now it's harder for the other team to intercept the ball because it's inflated. Just like it was easier for the team who intercepted the deflated ball, it became easier for them. When the inflated ball is in play it's harder for both teams and when the slightly deflated ball is in play it's easier for both teams. Why is this a problem?

      @extragirth64@extragirth649 жыл бұрын
    • Gavin Lynch At the start of each play the other team has an equal opportunity at intercepting the ball as the team playing the ball has at outsmarting the other team during each play. The fact that you think it's okay for it to happen in soccer means it should also be okay in football (for you at least.)

  • Will Cain should also understand that besides the global warming policy, the oil industry also want to write environmental policy that would put our drinking water at risk to save a buck....among other things.

  • I think the prolonged organization of the cheating is what make Brady's thing so bad. Like a murder is worse (in the eyes of the law) when it's "premeditated." I think the detailed planning and all the time he had to reverse and still didn't is what makes it particularly wrong.
