Can’t believe they killed Maria Hill, didn’t expect it. It’s a shame though, I liked Cobie’s character a lot, a strong start to the series- very excited for future episodes

Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill character being killed off was heartbreaking, but like Coulson, I suspect that she will return. This was my favorite part of the episode as it was so shocking. Olivia Colman's scene was a close second. This will be a great series. Marvel and Disney just keep upping their game!
I hope she doesn't. It would cheapen her death and we had enougj of that in MCU already.

Loved episode 1. The MCU seems to be getting back to basics and it's showing. Now I'm not saying Quantumania was great, but it wasn't as bad as some make it out to be. Guardians vol 3 and now Secret Invasion are on par with what we've come to expect from Marvel. To bad Fiegi let Gunn walk. He should have given Gunn the same type of position DC did. I believe we'll be ok. Can't wait for episode 2.

@@bobtwichew3103 Feige had nothing to say. Gunn was let go by Disney after the whole peadophilic joke kerfuffle he went to DC and got into execs good will after Suicide Squad. They were looking for a new captaun go save the sinking ship of DCEU. Gunn of course agreed but before starting for good Disney allowed him a chance to finish his GotG trilogy. I am sure that Disney was trying to keep Gunn on board (there were rumors he was to be a little Feige for coamic part of MCU) but he prefered to be an architect of a cinwmatic universe instead of a right hand of one.

MCU Disney needs to work out a deal with Toei and bring back Combattra, Danguard Ace and Raideen so we can have Shogun Warriors back in Marvel. Have them being operated on in S.A.B.E.R. space station In terms of Micronauts and ROM Space Knight, that'd have to be a deal worked out with Hasbro and of course for Marvel's Godzilla, a deal with Toho
I love the feel of Secret Invasion. Episode 1 was definitely 5 stars. No one truly dies in the MCU so I believe Maria Hill will return.

the guy in the bar was a skrull. Gravik changes into him in front of Fury before the bombs in the square. Gravik was following Fury the whole time. He's the perfect nemesis because he is 3 steps ahead like Fury used to be.

I love the headbump that Fury does was Talos because it show how much Fury does care about the Skrull's. It shows that Fury has adopted customs of the Skrulls and I don't think we have seen any other humans do that in the MCU. It's a little scene but it really does tell you so much about Fury's relationship with the Skrulls.
I don't want Maria to be dead, but it's a great thrilling plot I don't want them to undo either. RIP Maria Hill.
I am with you there, comics often feel like they have no stakes because any death can be undone.
Marvel needs to take more risks like this. Make the threat feel like an actual threat. Kill some characters and replace them with others. Even kill main characters. Go full game of thrones. I'm okay with that. That makes it more interesting.
What an amazing pilot episode. It's trippy to see Samuel L. Jackson lead a project after being in the MCU for 15 years. I LOVED how super serious it is. For the record, unlike critics and "fans", I've enjoyed the different variety of content from the MCU post-Endgame. The death of Maria Hill??? Goddamn! For a recurring side character who didn't have a meaty role throughout, her death was the last thing I expected. Also, that A.I. opening credit sequence was creepy AF. When it comes to Emilia Clarke, I have a feeling that, knowing what happened to her mother, she switches sides before the show is over. Can't wait for next week!
People complained about the Ai intro I thought it was cool at this point I think people just want to have an opinion that everyone can see since the internet allows that.
That ending was a real gut punch, considering she's the first we see in the Avengers basically - i hope she isn't dead but i also feel she probably is just dead for good and Cobie is just moving on to other things 😭 also Talos manages to be the emotional point of the episode and he did it amazingly. But I do find it interesting that Talos' wife's death was touched on the whole episode, only for the episode to end with Maria Hill - the person she had been impersonating - also dying, after being in a fight with the character supposed to be being set up as her replacement as Fury's right hand
Only a Skrull could get a breakdown out this fast.
This was top quality stuff. Hard to pick a favourite moment, but the scene between Fury and Fallsworth was gorgeous! Real old-school spycraft stuff. She's going to be a lot of fun... scary, dark, but fun! And I thought the opening credits artwork was extraordinary - can't believe it was AI generated! Plus that "mid-life crisis" exchange between Fury and Talos was hillarious. This is the best kind of MCU comic relief - genuine wit coming from characters' relationships, not just jokes or memes crowbarred into a plot.
The bombs successfully going off and Maria getting murdered(?) were absolutely unexpected! So far, so good... hopefully the show keeps the intrigue intense, but not over done. It can go either way with this specific type of plot point, where any character can be any character. It can easily be used as a cop-out for any reason to move the story forward without putting a lot of thought into the writing.
Why are these idiots running around not strapped up with bulletproof suits is beyond me.

My favorite scene was the multi-layered joke about Spooks. The woman says "You can't say that" referring to him not being personally responsible for keeping the cold war cold. Nick responds with "No, YOU cant say that." invoking the other meaning of spook. Spooks being a term for spies, but it was also a derogatory term for people of color. Yay, hidden racist joke delivered by Samuel Jackson in a Marvel show! I wonder how many people actually caught that?

With the way Coulson's death in Avengers gave the team the required Push, I think Maria Hill was killed for real to provide Fury the same push to get back in the game so he can assemble the next team
During the scene where G'aia walks past the humans having their minds taken you can see the art dealer/ dirty bomb manufacturer strung up. He's the first one she walks past. Before the reveal later that he's been replaced by a skrull. Only noticed this on a second viewing.

Who also thinks that Gravik is Fury’s son. When Talos is catching up Fury he tells him that “Gravik took his abandonment much harder.” Now that sounds like they have a familiar relationship! Also why is Fury losing focus when he sees Gravik at the end of the episode. Fury looks almost enchanted and finally due to his lack of focus he loses Maria 😢 Gravik is definitely more than just a rogue soldier.

Honestly, I really loved the first episode, what an opening. As soon as trailer footage was revealed, I suspected Ross was a Skrull and I believe that Rhodey, without a doubt, has to be a Skrull as well and I reckon he's gonna kill the president, once he's been exposed. I only say that, simply because he wasn't hesitating to mark Hill and Fury as "AWOL", despite the many times he's worked with both of them and when he knows that they are good people. Just seemed a little suspicious to me. But I can't believe they did Hill dirty like they did at the end. Regarding Gravik though, I think he's gonna turn out to be Super Skrull, because there was footage of him stretching his arm out and it looked very similar to Groot's arms. I had speculated that Emilia Clarke's Gi'ah could be Queen Veranke, but after watching the first episode, I think that is unlikely, however, Sonya might be Veranke instead.

My favorite scene/moment was by far the opening sequence. The ending was great to but I love the way they start it off. Immediately you don't know who you can trust and revealing Ross was a skrull (even if it wasn't for to long) was insane and makes me so excited to see who else is a skrull. It's really set the bar for openings to Disney plus shows in my opinion and for just a 5 or so minute scene, there were so many Easter eggs and foreshadowing to the rest of the episode. The 2 actors, Martin Freeman and I forgot the other guy, did really good jobs showing the conspiracy and paranoid behavior the skrulls bring. Freeman also did well when he showed disbelief even when he was a skrull.
I'm really hoping Maria Hill is the real life model decoy in the MCU.

Seeing a more vulnerable side of Fury from the start was great - I hope we get a few new flashbacks to him returning from the blip
Love when a show throw curveballs and not just for the sake of throwing curveballs. Pretty massive first episode and love that they went gritty and serious with humor on the light side instead of too much like most MCU projects.

Killing of Maria Hill was totally unexpected, but I felt like it was a great start to show how dark and grit the series will be. Like at the beginning of infinity war when Thanos killed Loki, you know its serious
I don't think they can kill Maria Hill off this easily because she's one of the last remaining SHIELD agents that the remaining Avengers know and could trust. She'd be crucial when Fury rebuilds the Avengers. Plus, most of them wouldn't trust Giah that easily.
The first episode set the tone for the whole show love it can't wait to learn more about Gravik in future episode ,and RIP Maria Hill.

This episode was really good for especially for Secret Invasion is one of my favorite storylines from Marvel Comics so far this looks really good I love the suspenseful and intense political thriller vibes especially with Nick Fury, Talos, The Skrulls, Humans, and The Government playing a large role in this so I’m really hyped for more episodes I love how u don’t know who is a Skrull at this point. Can’t wait for more Secret Invasion breakdowns!

I tkink Rodie is a skull. I think the real Rhodie and maybe Ross are captured by the Skrull and at the compound. It seems like when they impersonate a specific person, they restrain them and put them in a machine to take their memories.

Since we see scenes of the president in a helicopter crash during the trailers, I would suspect he’s already a Skrull and is exposed during that incident. Also the fact that Rhodey has no tech to help him walk leads me to think he’s a Skrull also.

Yeah. Skrulls must be really picky about relestate if they've been looking for a planet that's just right for 30-ish years.
I think fury is faking the limp, the gut, and generally being old and out of step, I think it's an act to make him seem weak and lame and not the imposing, dangerous, and threatening figure they've known him as.

21:05 they employed a mother for Maria Hill, gave her military hand off from London to the US. Yes, she may come back some how but I do believe they got rid of Maria Hill to replace her to Gaia. It honestly wasn't necessary, but that "death" hit & SURPRISED me, not like Colson who was major for me too, but Maria, I just wasn't expecting it at all.
The opening scene immediately made me think one of our original heroes will be reviled as a Skrull.

He knows his reputation, he knows key players know where he’s been. BUT he knows he’s obvious, he stands out, he’s being watched. Going for a walk helps him see who’s watching him…we know from the final scenes that Gravik was, at the very least, watching him that night - how else could he know what to do to draw Fury into the open? - and he admitted he WANTED Sonia’s people to bring him in. He expertly placed the camera (which you just know Sonia is aware of and is using to feed him info after openly dismissing working with him)…He’ll be back in full force before season’s end
I hope they left Maria dead so we know the threat is real, otherwise...it's just gonna be a boring good guy winning and bad guy losing.
I believe Maria Hill is permanently unalived. There needs to be high stakes in this series. The MCU can bring back the actress Cobie Smulders as a Skull assuming Maria’s life and her high position in SHIELD.

My theory as to why Prescod found out “Ross” was a skrull was cause “Ross” said “ Let me take this to Fury” so was Ross gonna go to space while he’s on the run from the US and UN. Even if he would how would he contact S.A.B.E.R and Fury? Neither has had contact with earth for year’s, and that set Prescod off. “Ross” was in contact with Maria so that kinda shows that this particular skrull has had meetings with and had knowledge of Maria and her investigation but Maria had no contact with Nick shortly after Tony’s funeral apparently. Also to add to the Skrull’s slip up on meeting Fury I also think he saw the change in “Ross’s” demeanor and doubt of the invasion from “ It’s nothing dude chill out” to “ Oh my god let me find fury” and decided to act on his thought ( which was right) and take “Ross” out. Prescod and the real Ross seems to have history too from how Prescod spoke and would probably know how our Ross would react and handle things. And the real Ross should be in Wakanda so unless this skrull captured him from the Dora Milaje and Midnight Angels and took his mind, this skrull has been around the real Ross since before Wakanda Forever. We went from being happy “Ross” survived Prescod’s attack to upset Prescod was killed by this skrull. To be fair you really couldn’t trust anyone in this situation. I was thinking Maria was a skrull when she was shot and was impressed Fury could tell so quickly. Then they revealed it was the other way around. It makes the death even more shocking when they make you feel like one thing is happening and then you’re wrong and she’s gone. Hope marvel keeps this vibe and mature violence and theme’s. I also hope this isn’t the last time we see skrulls after this show.
I hope we can see Coulson in this show! That would be so cool!

The irony of how big of a deal the death of Coulson was the 1st time he dies on screen. It's so ironic how they make such a big deal out of it only for him to come back yet again and be "not quite himself." It's hard to believe anyone is perma gone in Marvel and kind of makes deaths not feel as impactful as they probably should feel. If Maria Hill is gone for good then damn, this show has started off on a damn good foot. I love this darker, more serious tone and especially something Sam Jackson can sink his teeth into, oh and everyone loves Mendo! I think it's great to see him acting as a good guy. And very cute to see Emilia and Ben Mendo talk about their Star Wars roles together.

I Think the fact that the Series isnt just about taking Down the skrull rebels Which is a pretty one dimensional story, But instead are trying to remove the bad ones and save the good ones from Sonia who Will just kill everything. It sets up interesting viewpoints, would you want to save as many as possible, or take the safe option and just slaughter everything.
Interesting 🤔 video on Secret Invasion Episode 1. I got a few questions to ponder. Question #1- Did anyone ever noticed that the Thanos’s chin is like the Skrulls’s chin. Meaning that Thanos could be a Skrull. Just a thought 💭 to ponder. Question #2- You mentioned that at the Avengers Endgame, all or some of the are the Skrulls. I hope that theory is correct. Why? Cuz iffy Tony Stark died as a Skrull, then he might’ve been alive somewhere in the MCU or in the Kang universe. Another theory that Stark died as Stark himself didn’t died as a Skrull like you saw in the Secret Invasion. So I, we, would LOVE to see IronMan as Tony Stark back. Let it be Robert Downy Jr. himself or someone else. Hopefully 🤞🏽 it’ll be Robert Downy Jr. but of course it’s up to Kevin Feige himself. Thoughts 💭 on these 2 questions? Kindly let me know.
This episode already destroyed my mind.... was Ross a Skrull or did a Skrull just shapeshift into them? Is Fury a Scrull or not?? Because the interaction on the roof he had with Talos seemed like it.... Hill seemed to be onto him in the bar. And then they just kill off Maria Hill at the end of THE FIRST EPISODE??? omfg... so much has already happened and I feel like this series will bring about so many changes for the future of the MCU.
The real Ross is supposedly in wakanda. They rescued him as he was being arrested. I assumed it was just a Skrull trying to get information from that agent.
