    • @@IceDragon978 didn't mean to be rude, just saying. hey, I'm glad he changed your perspective. the way I'm looking at synthesizers is more like sonic amplitude generators. the barebone electric modulators of air vibrations/compressions unrestricted to physical dynamics, timbral qualities, and/or resonance chambers. giving rise to the synthetic quality of the sound, as opposed to the natural one. "from Greek sunthetikos, based on suntithenai ‘place together’. " the modern neologism starts in the 17th century in the early industrial era (late renaissance), to denote imitation of nature, with a huge emphasis on the man's big egotrip. and I think we can declaratively define the beginning of the "low life high tech" era to coincide with the steam machines of the early 18th century onward. cyberpunk is basically just a projection of the Victorian dystopia as seen through the low-fantasy glasses where one eyepiece is made by George Orwell and the other by Philip K. Dick. feel free to choose which is which.
